Hello annyonghaseyo~ Welcome to Mai Mai's Autumn Vlog in Seoul. The weather this morning was forecast to be warm so I only wore a light blazer. I have plan to take pictures of autumn foliage with my friend. In Seoul, places where you can take instagrammable photos often have a lot of people gathering, so we decided to be an early bird and meet at 8AM for crowd-less photos hihi It takes about 10 minutes by bus from my place to the subway station, and maybe about 15 minutes by foot. In the hot sum
mer, I often take the bus, but since the season changed to autumn and the weather got cooler, I often walked and enjoyed the breeze, looked at the trees, changing leaves, and felt the street vibe... My train arrived. I was taking off to meet my friend now. Goodness, we were so determined to meet at 8:00 a.m., but one of them didn't hear the alarm (because it was set at 5:00 p.m. instead of 5:30 a.m.). We were going out and at around 5:30 p.m., the alarm suddenly went off haha) The other slowly d
id her hair and makeup... so we didn't arrive the meeting place until after 8:30 a.m., and the universe... even put us in the same train, only different cabins hihi Now we were looking for a good spot to take photos. Autumn seemed to arrive in Seoul a little late this year, so those ginkgo trees only turned yellow-ish a little bit. We set a goal of just looking for one tree, one really golden tree, but those trees were playing hard to get ㅠ Mai: Record with the front camera. Hang: So pretty >< o
r is it because we're already pretty hehe Mai: we just know our the angles kkk Mai: It's all about the angle. Hang: hihihi Hang: *deep inhale* It must have been a very long time since I went outside and was able breathe fresh morning air like this... Mai: It's been a long time since you woke up early, right?! Hang: Yeah ^^ I'm only staying at home, then going to school, going home, going to school, going home... Mai: You've been studying hard 😓 Seoul is busy and crowded but before 8:00 am, it
's a completely different world. A peaceful, quiet, gentle, melancholy place that I couldn't keep myself from wowwwing!!! The tree just looked so romantic here, that I asked Hang to make a little bit of a melodramatic K-drama ^^~ Mai: Em, can you walk a bit faster... I'll put the camera up to this tree and then took it down and filmed you... We were walking towards Gyeongbokgung palace, also known as Palace of Happiness, the largest palace in Seoul. Around the area, there will be many Hanbok ren
tal shops and soon, you would see many people wearing Hanbok and go to the palace to take pictures. Mai: Did we cross the street here or over there? Hang: How's about go a little further, do you want to walk on that side or this side?! Mai: Let's walk on this side to enjoy the view on the other side! Hang: Well... so we'd take a photo like half of this view but why... the trees... they look so bald!!! Mai: I see it tooo kkk, they are so bald > Hang: I think it's probably because of the heavy r
ain... yesterday it rained a lot at my place Mai: It should be alright... we only need one tree... Hang: but I still haven't found it yet kkk Mai: Yes, we haven't kkk Hang: We've been saying since the morning that we only needed one good yellow tree but we haven't found it yet... Mai: Oh the bookshop. I'm not sure if it was the bookshop my aunt mentioned! Hang: Which one? Mai: My aunt said there was a traditional bookstore around here, but they has a book shop here but this one looks like it'
s a temple... Hang: Whoo, this place is beautiful!!! I think we are going here for fall photos in a good timing. Strolling down the sidewalk with those beautiful golden trees was really something special, so of course, we had to made the most of the moment!!! The day before we went to take pictures, it rained all day here in Seoul, so some of the leaves had already fallen, and there were even some that looked so bald. We were out for fall photos, so we mostly just wandered around the area. I've
been in Korea for couple of years, and I'm still moved by the cuteness of this place!!! I've been in Korea for more than 3 years. Since the first day I arrived, even it was during the Covid period, when the whole world shut down and everyone was on guard with each other, I was still treated warmly by all the strangers here. Hence, I had such a deep first impression and appreciation for Korea. They say first impressions are often unforgettable. That's so true!!! Because I had such a good first im
pression, I maintained that positive attitude for a long time hihi Maybe that's why the universe also attracts similar sources of positive energy to me. Here, I was lucky enough to meet sweet and kind people, each of whom has a relative influence on me, making me a better version of myself every day. Hang: Let's go 1 2 3!!! Mai: Okiee...1...2...3... Hang: We have to turn to here, right at this emart... Goodness, we're so busy talking that I missed the turn > Mai: Oh, are we going to the bus sto
p? Hang: Yes, we are! Mai: Oh, you passed by this... turned here?! There is a saying that we are the average of the five people we regularly interact with, so we need to carefully filter the people we spend a lot of time with. People who have the same interests, aspirations and values of life that we are pursuing. I want to share with you 5 types of people that I have learned that we should regularly interact, those who will bring good influences to our personal development in both profession
al and personal life. Type one - Mentor/Role model are people who have accomplished significant achievements in the field we are pursuing. When we interact with these people, we not only receive valuable guidance and inspiration, but also receive lessons from expensive experience. I work in the field of engineering, information technology... so my network is almost 80% of the people in this field. Every time I need to ask for opinions or advices, I always know who I can trust and go to. I feel e
xtremely reassured when I have someone to rely on!!! Mai: Hey~ do you have any plans for Christmas this year?! Hang: Not yet T.T Mai: I'll give you a plan later when I have lunch then?!!!! Type two: Diverse perspectives - people with diverse perspectives coming from environments and cultures different from ours. Communicating with these people will help us expand our scope of thinking, make us think about a problem from many different angles and elevate our understanding of the world around us.
When I was in the US and now in Korea, I have come into contact with many people from different backgrounds and cultures, like my current circle in Korea, there are Filipino friends, Vietnamese, Indians, Germans, Koreans, French,... There are many beautiful things in each person that are worth learning and helping me expand my way of thinking and selectively receive refreshing and interesting things. Mai: people are waiting for New Balance?! Mai: This cafe is so cute!!! Type three: Support frie
nd - building connections with friends who truly understand and encourage us. I have close friends who are extremely supportive. More often than not, they just listen to me ramble about things I like such as football. Even though they don't understand anything, they still ask me to tell them more details. They also said "I didn't understand a word but seeing you talk with a bright and happy face made us happy and enjoy listening!!!" Awwww~ that was the mental support I needed at that time! Until
there comes some life-changing decisions, when I shared it with close friends and received words of encouragement like "you will do well! I know you have a reason to do it, and I believe it you will make it." Awwww~ such positive energy is sent into the universe and makes me more confident in myself. Type four: Collaborator and Team player - people with whom you can collaborate effectively whether in personal or professional life. I understand it basically like when great minds meet each other
(great minds think alike) it can be colleagues with the same direction, a research group with the same passion, a group of friends with the same interests. The common denominator of this type is that we have the same goal and the spirit of determination to pursue and develop that goal!!! And the last type, type five - Adversary/Challenger - opponent, challenger. Even though opponents sound a bit negative... meeting someone you choose as a rival to challenge your ideas or opinions can be more ben
eficial than you think. In a positive way, interacting with people who have different views can help us refine our beliefs and principles, strengthen our arguments, and possibly learn in a new, refreshing way. I read in the book "Think Again, The Power Of Knowing You Don't Know" by Adam Grant, and learned a pretty good concept about "the Art of Knowing What You Don't Know", basically it's how you come to acknowledge what you don't know. Challengers may have different perspectives and perspective
s that we do not yet know or realize. By recognizing these things, we can develop ourselves more perfectly, know how to manage emotions when faced with opposition, and know how to accept new perspectives more openly. Personally, in every stage of life that I go through hihi, it's not long, not long, not long, not much hihi I meet all five types of people above. Sometimes it's all five people, sometimes one person is both a mentor - a guide and a support friend, some people are both a team player
and a challenger... each person contribute to help my version of today to be better than yesterday a lot. I hope that all of us will meet people who bring us peace of mind and help us become closer and closer to the best version of ourselves!!! This is the scene where we sat down for a coffee and gossip about the world!!! Goodness, it's soo much that it seems never-ending kkkk After walking all day, we finally found a yellow tree that we liked, settled and took pictures!!! ^^~ Thank you for wat
