Throga - Vocal Gym

Streamed 4 days ago

at the rhythm of the sun I was wi awake to the dawn upon her face and The Echoes of our song as it humed along so stay with me stay with me you are my missing pieces oh you are my missing pieces you are my missing pieces so to stay with me you're so cute as Ernie I love that [Laughter] picture good morning everybody and you are a stately Bert if I ever saw one stately except you're taller so we have that the height difference isn't quite synced there but yeah there's a little of both of them and
both of us so there's that good good morning thronies uh we're excited for today we have heard this name many times over and I had instruction as to how to say it art uh hook me up here with a very long detailed explanation as to how to say it which of course guaranteed I will mispronounce it because there's too much information coming in I'm pretty sure it's so young is that correct like the H is semi silent and it so young so it's a little bit like that hello oh Art's here hello art art rjs u
h I know can I just out he's been one that uh has recommended so young as well what's that uh Chris called me Johnny piano daddy Cummings it's actually P daddy now P daddy Diddy P Diddy piano oh I said it right okay fantastic oh you awake uh I'm I'm getting there yeah oh my love uh I've never like 100% awake but I'm I'm better than I was I'm better than I was well your eyes are open your ears are open we're ready for a new artist today now uh for those of you who have monitored or watched a few
of our videos sometimes we have some issues with copyright last yesterday morning was one of those issues uh looks like that's going to be resolved whether it's re-uploaded or approved um and we'll be able to see that back soon so there'll be updates as far as that goes but we did look a little bit in today's video we're going to watch Bridge Over Troubled Water and it is from our understanding from watching other reaction videos that it shouldn't need to be filtered it seems to be pretty clear
but there are a couple that have put some transparencies on it to be cautious so I'm going to be somewhat cautious I'm going to raise the transparency so it's not so dark you'll be able to see her better more than you are seeing right now um just to be a little bit on the safe side so that's the plan so let me adjust that real quick if I can oh this song has always been my favorite one of my favorite [Music] I get this adjusted here sorry I forgot to this earlier all right so we're going to put
it right about here so that's should be able to see her pretty well and hopefully gives us just a little extra layer of protection here so that is the plan and I'm excited I want to kind of want to jump in I've heard so much about her uh she is uh Korean I believe correct me if I'm wrong and that that's all we know other than she's suppos supposedly amazing and we do trust your recommendations so absolutely John do you have something to say to the people I do before we get started with this vide
o you guys know the drill hit like And subscribe and ring that Bell I apparently screwed that up so I hit the wrong button so we're but but you got it out you were correct on that one technology was bad on that's all I care about as long as I did my part you can you can mess up as much as you want and on my side of things please check out the description below where you can click on a link to go to buy me a coffee and buy us a coffee we appreciate your support that is why we are here because of
your contributions you can become a silver gold or Diamond thr member for extra perks and whatnot you can also check out thr.com to view the vocal gym courses to learn how to sing and learn more about your voice by the way we had a blast yesterday why isn't this going away there it is we had a blast yesterday we had our first thron Le meeting if you become a diamond throny member we have like a get together once a month and it's not recorded totally off camera so not everybody was able to make i
t but we had a blast and we have six more spots available if you want to check that out where we spent an hour just getting to know each other on Zoom hanging out talking music and it was a lot of fun so be sure to check that out life too it was just it was just a good oldfashioned hang it was awesome it was so much fun yeah okay shall we let's do it I'm ready wait I know I don't know if I'm ready okay I'm ready okay ready go go is this a competition show uh I don't know got that [Applause] vibe
cool different [Music] approach when tears are you're right I will try it's so [Music] inviting oh that's [Music] beautiful I already have Goose FS [Music] oh God over TR water [Music] oh wow there is so much happening wait wait can we can we pull out the classic okay I'm not sure where to begin yeah I heard um okay let me gather my thoughts can you talk construction a little bit they like right from the beginning I wouldn't have recognized the song Just I would yeah it was well it's in a diffe
rent key first of all so bridge over troubl Waters the original version with a garles an E flat this isn't C but it's like up so they kind of do more of a drony thing in C so when she comes in when you're we feel when so and I love that that's sort of more drony it's almost more hypnotic that way yes [Music] oh man it she approached it in a way I I inviting was the word I used at the beginning because it just had this like like the world just kind of like dimmed right like everything around her
voice and a little bit with the the the presentation too I mean just she looks connect and everything it has a bit of a church quality to it as well just like in the sense of like it has a little bit of that that gosp sound I I guess the song has that built in it's got to begin with right um but she's just bringing this kind of like this connection of just like this singular beam from the heavens coming down like this is what you're going to experience in this moment kind of feeling right well s
he almost uh apparently she did the arrangement too the oh really um the the instrumental Arrangement because that would be something oh does she play the instrument as well so maybe that's that's part she does the arrangements okay but also her her tone in the beginning in the verse part it it almost sounds like an instrument it just it's like maybe that's kind of what you were talking about it's like it's almost like just this one whole you know it's not like singer and instrumentation below i
t it's like almost it's like so intertwined and yeah it's just sort of that more ethereal breathy tone in the beginning then she starts to open up with more of the clear tones little bit clear yep and setting up for something more to come like this is you could tell the skill level is a not in a sense of like a teas in a bad like oh I'm just going to kind of like tease you with something it's the you just kind of know it's going to escalate just on the level of control and comfort that it's bein
g presented with there is so much more in the tank so to speak there quick little flips like little riffs runs things like that feel very artistically creative to her like I haven't heard anybody else place them in the same way and everything all right we're talking too long I need to hear more okay go by the way uh thank you for the the Super Chat very much um Tika Tia if I'm saying that correctly appreciate that very much yes thank [Music] you so precise just there there's almost a little I'll
explain it after when you're down and out when you're the gospel Here Comes The [Music] Gospel so I will come for I'll take a when [Music] the [Music] wow like a over [Music] [Applause] [Music] great all the now [Applause] [Music] will me [Music] down [Music] [Music] say take [Music] a when dark [Music] [Applause] [Music] is is [Music] all like [Music] a [Music] [Music] [Applause] over I oh my [Music] [Applause] God how me oh there it [Music] is oh I why are we just oh here he goes here he go w
hy is I mean seriously Richard's cry I never had tissues in my studio before starting this stupid Channel you know I never really knew you as much of a crier you know for these how long have I known you now 204 I'm just old in sentimental 24 years holy crap um I mean I'm just really excited that was unbelievable uh where why did it take so long to find her we're like because we're so slow listen that she was mentioned like in the first month maybe the second month of of doing reaction videos I'v
e got like 100 on the list and without well but without going and actually listening to them all which is kind of defy the purpose of you know it's like I don't know which ones to to prioritize she doesn't have like insane number of followers or whatever which sometimes kind of goes into the equation of like oh we should listen to this one because not not because they're famous but because obviously there's like a viral quality or or something that everybody is I mean this is Whitney level I was
gonna say and that's what I was JF that's what I was going to say I heard at the point where I said that I kind of heard a little bit of Seline Dion like the purity of the tone and I was like R Whitney it's like yeah if if Seline and and to me Selen and Whitney had a baby somehow somehow um that's that's what you'd get that was you had the the gospel uh the gospel runs the gospel soul and the in the still the purity of the the tone that Whitney had and then that almost like like crystalline pur
ity of a tone that that Seline be on yeah definitely more Seline in in that kind of that that Purity sense and that's not taken away from Whitney's Purity either right it's just we're using you know subjective adjectives to try to describe a sound that is filled with impurities I mean that's part of what makes it so incredible and you know like the violin or any fretless instrument that just those those little nuances of being sense sharp or sense flat and easing into ver and the tonal shifts is
what makes it just so captivating God just the PowerHouse I mean she's just you know she's just hitting those g5s like over is that where she was I don't I wasn't even paying attention to that yeah yeah I was well it's what you do but but in those moments it wasn't head voice it was like like a belt it's like a slight I mean I mean slight mix in the sense of where the folds thinned a little bit technically in the pistachio leaning towards head voice but it was still like like a chest voice qual
ity with the overtones that just made it yeah you know yeah Sophia you're right yeah like the sort of the strength of Whitney and the sweet of sweetness of Seline yeah just the perfect mix man okay um and if she did and if she indeed did the arrangement even if I don't know if she like arranged the string like the individual Parts but like even the chord structure like so when she hit that second verse cuz usually it would be like da then you go so it starts on C then go to the four chord da da
but they did this cool thing totally made it their own so we went to that seven CH over the [Music] one had this a little bit more of an anticipation to it it's like where's this [Music] going yes yeah so if you guys would allow me to hear that whole second half again I need to maybe get like my teacher hat on because I like I want I mean she's a master class right I think somebody said that and just to to borrow your quote there she's a master class in just in the combination of skill sets with
emotional connection which we talk about all the time in this channel it's like that's the most valuable thing it's great to have just emotional connection and there's an audience for that too I I like to use you know Bruce Springsteen is a good example of that it's just like the note is somewhere in that direction you know the Bob Dyan was kind of like it's we'll go up here maybe down here and there's just a story an emotional connection that that resonates With Their audience and and you know
and that's great that that's not my cup of tea but I get it and then there's the pure skill which is just like just an exhibition of you know Pitch Perfect and riffs and runs and Dynamics things like that which is amazing and it will get Applause you know in that sense but when you combine those two and you're able to like allow the unconscious mind to to dance with your subconscious skill sets you find amazing you find a singer that Richard and Johnny will ignore for months yeah that's why and
and never not discover her until way too late okay all right so if y all are open to me nerding out over this uh I would like the opportunity so let me let me absorb this one more time here um and by the way I forgot to turn our bi a coffee uh thing on so thank you Alicia for your three coffees very much from from Mexico latte lover thank you for the five coffees much appreciated it's she's up early so she's buying multiple cups of coffee for for all of us she's buying around uh and then Art th
ank you for your coffees as well much appreciated all right oh she does a cover of Misty too do you know this one Johnny I'm telling you right now we're we're putting her on a reaction Wednesdays like we we need a deep dive like not even up for negotiation all right here we go I will always love you too I will I'll [Music] take when the [Music] darkness around like [Music] [Applause] [Music] a [Applause] [Music] great all water now will [Music] sorry I lost my cursor I wasn't paying attention to
anything mechanical are you losing it again like she's like four lines in so that that little run there oh go ahead I'm shaking there's like an adrenaline rush in my system right now and I can't even like break it down it's the this is my my care an equivalent of morat happening right now yeah oh my God okay but she goes into that little like love it oh my God it's too high for me too [Music] hot she kind of goes into that Blues thing that's oh man song really isn't it's not really set up for t
hat but she oh man I'll tell you one of the things that's triggering me emotionally and it's something tonally that she does so well she pulls on um the the muscles it's the is the no the zygomaticus are here I think it's the bux inators right here that attach to the bicular orus all right so okay what the lip muscles the muscles inside of the lips that's the obicularis orus that's you know create all these shapes right here okay and then there's a ton of muscles that come down into the the jaw
um and then I that one up it's not a muscle but yes that is the the medul uh depressors uh which attached to the jaw um the mandible and you could see she pulls down right here it's these muscles right here that kind of shape it Alters the tone in such a way that gives it like that it it just it gives it the feels which is the other technical term I think it was important to address yep here I'm going to show you oh my we're I pretended I could sing hi uh zero M when you're wey small all right t
his is what I'm talking about let's go to this screen okay so if we go to hold on let see if I can he's naked he very naked you're always quick to the the the the only the only references only fance okay th only fans I still wish th only fans worked but it doesn't no it doesn't you'll get us in trouble here okay it's too naughty it's too naughty so these muscles so I'm going to back it up and I want you to pay attention to just how she is using these muscles so this is obulus obulus aorus I was
talking about right under here the the um mentalis the depressor labia and then up here you've got the leviter the zygomaticus and the bux inators okay the way she pulls down on the corner the the depressor muscles here those muscles shape in such a way that sometimes they're associated with the uh the emotion disgust but there obviously that that's not what's happening here but it's that it just it Taps into an emotional uh the the Olympic system it triggers like an emotional response that is l
ike of great emotion it is just like there a feeling of being overwhelmed right so those muscles triggered with how she uses the muscles around the lips here are so particular in how she uses them and then of course you've got the you know the plma muscles and the sternal clom mastoid the big muscles here that she's like sometimes going up and down it's not manipulating tone in any sort of negative way but instead it's adding to the weight the the the the feeling that's taking place that's inten
tional that's there right so let me back it up a little bit that wasn't an x-ray of you was it no okay he'd be crying you just see tear ducks yes allart I don't know who wrote Misty actually that's I failed that failed that so I will come for I'll [Music] take when the [Music] [Applause] close watch around the lips right [Music] [Applause] [Music] there water now [Applause] will [Music] me [Music] me I'll take a [Music] p when I she shifts into this smile it's like [Music] breath like a breeze [
Music] over let me [Music] [Applause] [Music] I [Music] [Applause] I [Music] how [Music] me wow and then aside from the the expression muscles then you have just the I've used this word before and it's not in a negative way it's piercing that the laser beam attention not piercing like Screech on a chalkboard obviously right the high frequencies right it's that like just the attack you just feel that's I think you went back to earlier you were saying like the the the crystal clear overtones that
like Seline would have of just just so precise with or without ver it's just like on and that that's like 95% chest voice meaning the vocal folds are a little bit thicker like the the lower string of a piano or guitar the larger they are the slower they move but it also gives more depth MH but if you thin it just a little bit and by this I mean the vocal folds are this big right but if you thin just a little bit it allows them to vibrate faster giving this immense sound pushing a lot of air crea
ting the sound waves but also being able to trigger faster because she right there she's at about I don't know 760 cycles per second the folds vibrating there mhm I 750 but yeah I I I am rounding abouting uh you know what also super impressive to me is like you know once she gets past that second verse and it's just like full on you know she's like hitting high notes like pretty consistently the G is the highest one but she's around that c right below that that C5 and it you never I that's that'
s a high note for for anybody and you you never get the sense that she's shouting at you like there's just it's like there's power behind it but it's not shouting which that that's sort of a tendency when you start getting up in the in the higher registers you want to just like you know that's all you can do some people right but she's just got full control over it and then the larynx would be lifted up a little bit more the back of the throat closes that gives you kind of like that more like sh
outy kind of a yelled sort of excuse me ton mix in with it can we do one more yeah we have to do how do we how do we stop there no way all right we're going to do one more we were going to do a short one today um that's out the window right now I mean you can't go crazy but what it be so early on we had several recommendations what we looking at oh also shout out to uh to Chris and L lover and any others out there that have your Shirley Jones throwing the mug your Shirley merch I don't have I al
ready drank my coffee it is it is gone okay so lean on me that was a big one suggested early on it's another kind of gosp there's a lot coming in here all right we're going to go lean on me yep let's see if I can find it here what movie is this from it's the happy outtakes of Godfather yes kind of sounds like it this [Music] way by the way was this what was this or what is the show is it a showcase is it a competition is it I don't I'm not familiar with this looks like we've got another one from
the same thing y Elizabeth one Elizabeth prepare one what was it it's from La Land ah okay all right let's go [Music] okay [Music] it is a competition [Music] show if are we know that there always [Music] tomorrow [Music] [Applause] [Music] Michael Lean on Me When You're a round I be your friend I help you carry on oh it won't be long till I'm going to need somebody to leave on [Applause] please please swallow your PR so again she's reminding me of Whitney in in the sense she has these these gr
eat choices right like Whitney would just make the song hers right we saw that with Dolly pardon I will always love you it's like there's doll's version and then there's the what became the iconic version uh from The Bodyguard sound she would just filter that Melody through her brain her life experience her gosp goodness R&B influence all that stuff and I hear her doing the same thing what I hear different is she's taking to me I would say some more risks I don't mean in the sense of like abando
ning the melody and making it her own but more of like she just kind of like flirt with the head voice right around the pagio and just kind of like just adds like these what feels very impromptu risks and they're paying off does that make sense I yeah I think so I think also um there's there's a certain level of like what's the word like conversational tone like the way she's she's not like it's like when I'm in the studio like some sometimes I I direct whoever I'm working with vocally to to not
be so singy like don't sing speak to me so it's like it's it's less like this sort of like I'm singing a song as opposed to like I'm having a conversation with notes essentially and and just the it's it's really impressive the way that she pronounces some some notes it's like you would think that she was raised in like Mississippi like she just like has that you know she and we've made that mistake before so was she raised in Korea I'm guess oh I'm guessing she wasn't raised in Mississippi well
no no I I meant before before we made the Assumption like with one okay rock that taka was you know raised in Japan like wow the pronunciation so you know whatever and we're like no he was you know raised in America so it kind of made sense after so but even so people raised even so people that are raised in America singers like some of them can't even do that like have that like Soulful you know just delivery of this you know certain points you know I don't feel compromise taking place yeah ri
ght it's not like oh I'm I have to change the shape of this vowel or I'm getting sloppy on on the diction for some consonants or whatever in order to get the note or place it you know in quotes place it in a register something like that it's a there's a sense of Independence in her skill sets between how she shapes the word the tone she wants and in the range that she's singing in yeah you set up out of the night I did um uh born and raised in Korea yeah okay wow which is just that's incredible
wow your bachelor degree is in French language okay so she's she's very versatile [Music] thanks it won't Bel long till I'm going to be somebody body to lean on please please SW there you no one can fear those of your need that you won't let out some time in the L we all live pain we all live sorrow God if we are wise we know that always tomorrow [Music] tomorrow Chang [Music] to lean on I have you carry on you're going to need somebody Le on on me strong when you're the strong I'll be your frie
nd you car all you w itong till I'm going to need somebody to [Applause] be me my brother [Music] when we need some to you can up you can up you can what is [Music] happening you you need [Music] a [Music] [Music] me I I I I got to back it up so okay once again where do these people come from I've said it before I'll say it again we should make a shirt that says where do these people effing come from I'm just Kidd sorry excuse my language ah okay her impromptu range and everything is I just have
a feeling every time she sings this there's just all these gems there has to be there's no way this is all completely planned out I'm sure it's mapped out in her mind on some level but she's so in the moment that that feeling the song the the meaning that and just she's she's so responsive to everything that's happening and musically this this is another like they redesigned the song it's like an entire Adventure yeah well I was wondering since this is more of a singing competition I don't how
much do you think I don't know that she had a lot to do with the the arrangement of it she could I I don't know but I mean her vocal Arrangement is impressive like you're were saying I mean she's going way outside of the form of the on me when you're not which it's a great song and it never had to be changed but yeah but man she's like she's taking it just like in another Another Universe and it's so awesome they're saying that she she arranges the song so I don't know if she gets with I mean I
have seen that happen on other competition shows where they they come in be like okay here's the chord structure things like that but but even the the layers of like what they're doing with the brass section in and it's just so she arranged every performance wow wow and and that's happening over you know I mean that's limited time to do that on these these oh yeah shows you know you have a few days you know it's a week between but it's like you know it's probably like three or four days to put s
omething that complex together I concur the recommendation in the chat where I think she and deash would go very well together in a song and that should happen oh my God I would love to see some of these people that we like collabs all over the place that would be that' be amazing okay let's try to breathe this in one more time here okay and and I I will get to the end I [Music] promise it won't be till I'm going to need [Applause] some me my brother when you never hand [Music] [Music] you what
ability to do that can lean on just Le on you need a PR [Music] on me and if I need a h car car it won't be long that I'm going to need [Music] somebody I give sh Brother s we all need a PR a little B cracking there [Music] oh [Music] [Music] and God there's almost there's almost too much to unpack with that there's so much happening so much good stuff happening just the tail end here [Music] again so even again with the exterior muscles even with the movement she the little headbang at the end
there it's the the control is still present internally in terms of air pressure and the tension everything is just crazy the the arrangement to that if if she indeed had something to do with that Arrangement that even if she didn't the fact that she followed along with that arrangement I know right and was so precise there was so much going on there I mean there was there was like these intricate little phrasing things with the background singers there was like uh you know there was congatulatio
ns there was you know different parts of the song that never existed before this version you know it goes to this like this this D FL cord and she's doing all these like crazy like Blues runs and stuff and all of her runs they're they're all like perfectly placed too it's not it's not like these haaz I'm just going to you know use my bag of tricks it's like she's going along with what's musically happening in such a precise way um she fantastic and also and also if this is true somebody said she
had pneumonia the night right before which come on how if that's true how many times have we reviewed somebody that saw like the most Earth shattering performance and she oh yeah sorry she was she was actually dying so oh my God I am seeing a lot of requests for for one more song one song in particular um which I I'm totally good for Johnny if you are we can do one more but we but but only one more um and just a quick reminder for chat etiquette if having the same person say the same thing over
and over again tends to get ignored um because then we can't see if everybody else wants that or if only one person wants that so just chat etiquette for future reference but I do see there's a lot of people saying for the same song um so I'm game for that what else was I going to say I don't know there's she's she's stupified you into silence it it it happens often on the show I don't know what to say all right let me look up this other song God Johnny play something in 30 seconds that modulat
es six times and is as interesting as the arrangement that she just did okay you ready yes look us up [Music] well four oh [Music] [Applause] yeah wow you're equal footing as what we just heard I was just I would say i' better I would bet better to just by that much all right last one do I have the right one I did see a few options uh this one has English uh subtitles I think this one feel good go py that's awesome oh man this one is this the right one guys react to no we're only do one more bec
ause we are going to circle back we're going to do a reaction Wednesday with her and we can take a deep dive into multiple songs are you saying the wrong one all right so let me let me look [Music] again is it this first one right [Music] here is this the right one guys to make sure we get the right one there's that little delay there like wrong no but is this one wrong too no mortal 2 version please I think this is it then I'm waiting for a couple yeses oh that's such a good song yes yes yes ye
s okay all right it just takes a second for us to come in I think we're good all right I think this is the same channel I don't know if I have to filter this one more or not I really don't want this to be deleted and then nobody else gets to watch it this is on a different Channel than the last one that we had so because that's a bomber man it's so frustrating so frustrating all right so I'm just going to just be just a little little cautious since this is not prepared and we're impromptu here s
o enjoy Johnny's bicep in the background that's to make sure that this stays on hopefully you can still see it well enough all right yeah let me uh there we go yeah all right that's better here we go well we want disrupted a little bit it's kind of like the point but oh then oh they are they are saying definitely filter okay okay so keep your bicep on your bicep is going to save the show finally your muscles are are benefiting us all right here we [Music] [Applause] [Music] go [Music] H what has
like a Hades sound kind of Melody to [Music] it [Music] for beautiful language wow [Music] jome quick Little semmit Tone kind of yeah a traditional a folk folk song Something Beautiful Mellie so it's a song about a wish to unify North and South Korea okay yeah I was going to say it's got like a folky sort of traditional um sound to it which I I love love it's so foreign to us it's just candy with those like melodic choices that we just normally don't hear yeah I have to hear it again and just t
hose quick movements and we've heard this too and it reminds me a little bit of some of the traditional pieces that we've seen uh for Mongolian and for Chinese yeah it's just just that those there's some similarities in some of the the melodic phrases that's taking place is just so intriguing her delivery here is completely different than the other two songs we heard and it's I mean she's doing what the song needs which as anybody that's watched us knows we love that yes serve we har that all th
e time that's the song she She stripped like all the sort of gospell Soulful delivery out and it's just like this you know very little ver just very pure tone mhm like little little runs like you were saying before but but keeping it pretty simple and it's because of that it's it just like transports me to this this other place you know like if she if she like put you know if she just like did a blanket sort of delivery for everything then it would be it'd be impressive because she's amazing obv
iously but the fact that she can just change it up and completely and just just really serve the song is just oh and I and I suspect because this was such a big request in in the last few seconds here she's still going to do something crazy with it but it's the ability to like you just said kind of turn turn that stuff off to choose how to deliver it and to honor the song [Music] yeah [Music] wow [Music] [Applause] [Music] so simple really just you know just a a straight line why do I even say a
nything I'll listen Okay so I was WR it's really easy for everyone to follow I was wrong no but I will say to defend myself which if anybody's going to do it it's got to be me I got to defend myself um it's it's still it's it's not like the bluesy delivery it's it's like she's going High um you know she's adding the power again but it's it's not like it's still sort of different than the other approach that she you could backpedal all you want she just do into the de Bend and took us with took u
s with her listen my credibility is at stake and I apologize for something I'm backing it up we're we're gonna that's the highest hit so far that's uh B flat high flat five but I will but again I I will support the idea that she definitely like transported you in that that beginning it's like it's like an invitation into the song and then she just takes you to another place so that still transped that very few singers can [Music] execute [Music] wow [Applause] [Music] one ConEd [Music] Gra okay
there's the [Music] [Music] BL [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] forah [Music] more my [Music] here get [Music] [Music] [Applause] get [Music] no [Music] no [Music] it's another one you just forget to breathe I know this song is just a complete movie it's just a you know what I mean it's like it takes you back to to like where you started kind of thing it's like yeah lot I think loty lover kind of said it best she said this song is to the audience what adal Vice was i
n the sound of so latte lovers who we talked to yesterday yes yes uh and and I mention how much I love the sound of music and um yeah so it's just that got that much resonance but thank uh by the way thank you to um our coffe buyers yes Joey Robinson and another keep reacting to Korean singers they are amazing if you react to the singer on the competition get famous and realize they're amazing we're we we more than realize um we're just I can't she's unbelievable she's just you know just when yo
u just when you feel like okay we've discovered the best you know there's there can't be much more it's like sh people every country every region has their you know their relative best in in terms of of skill sets but again you know you and I we have this conversation on air and and off which is a lot of the singers we just listen to in our daytoday they can't do any of this skillfully right but it's like they don't necessarily have that but they emotionally trigger us to our childhood or our in
fluences or whatever that's very personal and you know they they couldn't even conceive of delivering a a song like that well necessarily right um so when you step outside of that that bubble I think that we all have we have our bubble like our playlist our favorites or whatever that that's kind of our our dat a day and you peek your head out it's just like damn it's like there's just so much more out there that yeah it's just mindblowing and it's hard to bring them into your bubble because it's
like it's like a new memory it's a new emotional attachment or whatever too like that's a process but she's also one of those ones I mean there's there's singers that are so impressive and you're just like they're just jaw-dropping and then there's singers that have that but also have you know if they sung in a limited range you'd still you'd still listen like like I do you know CU I don't I don't need an amazing singer to like a song like you like you were saying like some of my favorite bands
and artists you know they're not they can't do anything like that but I still there's something about their tone there you know like there's a whole a lot that goes into that maybe listen to this and somehow I could still put on Metallica and thoroughly enjoy it I me James range is like you know he's got an octave and half to play with he's got very similar tone to almost every single song and it energizes me I like it it's it's mood it's an emotional drip that that I enjoy right yeah I mean no
ne of the Beatles could do that none the Rolling Stones you know like I mean close but but I love them you know um you know but and then you hear these singers you're like holy crap how does that even possible but also kind of like a more set you know it's just like she's also got this amazing tone like that she doesn't have to have all the crazy stuff going on and you still would listen to her I would have if this last song had just like the the the folk traditional quality that we heard in the
first 30 seconds if it didn't have the blues references and the crazy not things like that I would have genuinely enjoyed that presentation and that feeling of just like right but then she takes the you know takes you by the hand right from the lyrics and just like invites you to just like you join these two you know opposing forces you know that North and South Korea and and to have this you know to try to in an effort to bring peace and and Harmony and all that through just this incredible gi
ft that that she has and clearly works hard at no one just has the you're not just born with the ability to sing you might have an advantage that you're born with but you still have to cultivate it you still have to spend tens of thousands of hours to get that good she put in her time and and you guys are saying that she's humble too I I don't doubt it there's just something about her song Choices the clever her just how she presents herself I'm I'm not surprised at all isn't it comforting too l
ike these these unbelievable talents all they seem to use their power to for good you know they they want to you know they want to promote peace and connection and so nice to well that's what gives it that we're the genuine humbleness stems from right it's or connected to and that's why it's so believe that's so believable so we all we Al we always talk about you know or I talk about it's like you know God can only stack stack the deck so much and give one person you know so much you know but so
metimes it seems like it's like he forgot or here forgot and it's like no I'm G to give them everything but luckily I forgot to give this to the last 5,000 people let's let's just throw them all into one here just take it all take all the good stuff and but they use in such a such a eight billion vocal instruments on this planet and none of them are the same and and that's the beauty of a song you take a song like lean on me and you have eight billion different versions and they all have somethi
ng to offer that is unique to their story and everything and they all have an audience I say this to my students all the time if you watch the Grammys you will learn that there is an audience for anything that's I'm I'm just I'm just saying right so there's an audience for anything but if you put in the work and you are genuine in what you do you're going that will resonate with someone or a group of someone's um that could do something and then you've got somebody like this that should just be
a sweep at at the Grammys in in from the skill emotional aspect but there's so many other factors that go into play in the social constructs and the culture and the business aspects of it so that's a whole another conversation but wow thank you all for recommending her um we will be back we're going to we're gonna take a deep dive and and explore many songs in a longer reaction this was this was supposed to be like H we'll do like 30 40 minutes maybe we'll do two songs three songs later an hour
and 10 minutes later you're still here thanks for hanging with us um we will be back next week with uh our continued countdown to budapes with deash we have I think it's Gabriel henrique next Wednesday let me check cool haven't visited him a a long time yeah oh we have uh xiaan next week we're doing listen with xan and we have our mystery guest from billybilly our our the one who's translated our work is going to actually be joining us so if you speak Chinese in the chat we're going to have some
body there to help communicate that should be a lot of fun next week as well so that is it for now thank you everybody for joining us you are awesome thank you for the coffees and the continued support it helps us do what we're doing so yes thank you everyone have an amazing day me you are my missing Pie Oh I Feel It In My Heart

Without doubt, one of the best female vocalists on the planet. She does all the musical arrangements herself, with the input of her in-law family and musical assistants, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks five languages: Korean, English, French, Vietnamese and Chinese, as well as reading Greek!

@seungkim8576

Speaking of Whitney, you MUST react to her "I Have Nothing."

@anniex8712

You need to hear her version of I have nothing (Whitney's cover) and Everyone. Just amazing

@erikoenglish1651

Finally. She is the best female singer in the world 🌍

@RaWrr915

I just wanna say that Koreans as a whole, have a hard and dark past as a country. The soul that they sing with is so beautiful. It just amazes me the amount of great singers that come out of Korea. Guys seriously you have barely hit the tip of the iceberg with the amount of amazing singers Korea has. Also on the same show there is this young girl Song Sohee, who grew up singing pansori (traditional singing of Korea) And what she does with her voice is just another level of amazing. I highly recommend you react to her rendition of "tearful duman river" on immortal songs.

@t.lucalake8963

'Bridge Over Troubled Water', was just a small sample of the flexibility in her voice. This event was in 2015, when So Hyang was 37 years old. She is now 45 years old (she turns 46 next month). Not only is she aging in reverse, but her voice sounds better than ever, if that's even possible. Her vocal range is still ridiculous, and her breath control remains insane. During her cancer surgery in her early 20's, she contracted Hepatitis B or C from a blood transfusion. This has made So Hyang susceptible to pneumonia. She has battled severe pneumonia eight times between 2016 - 2020. If you continue on the So Hyang reaction, please react to So Hyang singing "You Raise Me Up" from Immortal Songs 2. There is an interesting back story that nearly ended her singing career. BTW....So Hyang, her husband, and some assistants, arrange every aspect of her live performances; the music, backing vocals, staging, lighting, etc.

@jackio46

I am a Korean ESL tutor and also a cancer fighter so one of my students introduced me to SoHyang and told me that she had battled cancer in the past. She is so uplifting. Could imagine a duet with Dimash!

@diatima

Her rendition of Arirang is one of my favourites... so beautiful, especially the first half when it's all airy and whimsical

@armenoid2278

A warm welcome to the amazing world of Sohyang , one of the best female vocalists currently on the planet, period!!!! . Thank you for the reaction.

@davidkoepke9841

Sohyang was born and raised only in Korea. First learned English from watching "the Little Mermaid" repeatedly. David Foster did Whitney's arrangement of "I will always love you" and composed many of Whitney's top songs such as "I Have Nothing". Sohyang has performed with David Foster and is known for her Whitney covers.

@jobydogwhisperer4163

She is my favorite female singer. Reactors call her the female Dimash. Glad you guys finally found her. My favorite song she does is EVERYONE. I play it every Sunday.

@haxson37

The artist who appear on this show are not amateurs, but the best singers in Korea.

@sohyangedits1599

She said she cried while making the vocal arrangement for Lean on me😆 She had great ambitions for that song and wanted to do her best. It paid off in the end, she won that competition

@richardjones3242

She's in the top 1 singers in the world.

@stevelloyd6940

Talking of MISTY, Sohyang does a great version of Misty (in a park with just minimal accompaniment) where she is SO precise on EVERY NOTE its a masterclass in itself of placement, phonation, tone, arrangement and feeling.

@mailidong3576

Soyhang is a miracle singer who has suffered much, wrestled much with God and is His instrument of comfort and wonder. Others can enlighten you of her bio, You must see a fan cam video of her encore, "Upon This Rock" of 2022(?). She teaches voice at a University level and is an author of fantasy novels. Only recently did she start her own social media you tube channel. Her collabs are also lovely.

@airyfairy2396

It's not just her incredibly high range and perfect technique; she always sings as if she's conveying her soul to us. She doesn't just surprise the listeners; she moves their hearts. Let's go to "You raise me up" from the same TV show. You will find yourself tearing up once again : ) And there is her masterpiece, "Everyone." When listening to this song, I highly recommend watching a version that includes English translated lyrics. Love your Sohyang comments and analysis!!!!

@deb9869

To me, she is the best female vocalist out there as she is so versatile with her range, tones and her rifts/runs are super impressive! She’s one of the few that flows with what the song needs/requires and not just pulling out her bags of tricks just to show off. She is also accurate in how she flows through a songs ; not screaming but just beautiful to the ears!!!❤️🌹

@britishpetroleum1171

Welcome to the world’s best female vocalist SoHyang. I’ve heard her in front of me one time and she just non matchable unbelievable vocalist. You guys will love her singing.

@ClumsyMumsy

Dimash is in S Korea at the moment, wouldn't it be amazing if he and SoHyang collaborated?!
