everybody today's video is a streaming alertĀ  about DirecTV and some changes that affect both satellite and streaming subscribers let's getĀ  to it first I want to show you the plans that DirecTV is heavily marketing including withĀ  TV commercials the website says TV without compromise with or without a satellite dishĀ  if you're familiar with DirecTV stream you already knew that was possible but wait this isĀ  different take a look at the glance they start at 65 a month and that price is guarantee
d forĀ  two years sounds good so far but keep reading and you see there is an advanced receiver fee 15 aĀ  month and if you've got the choice plan or higher you're going to add an extra 13.99 a month to theĀ  prices that you see here the fine print says a 24-month contract is required for the satelliteĀ  version but that does not appear to be the case if you get the internet version so now let's talkĀ  about DirecTV stream this service starts at 75 a month so ten dollars a month more but theĀ  differe
nce is there are no hidden fees and you don't pay a regional Sports fee with the choiceĀ  plan or higher with DirecTV stream you now have to bring your own device meaning a Roku or anotherĀ  device to stream on your TV set the service is no longer offering the DirecTV stream device thatĀ  I've reviewed on this channel to new customers but those new plans from DirecTV satellite or viaĀ  internet those do come with a Gemini streaming box that looks similar to the DirecTV stream deviceĀ  and is going to
give you that more cable-like feel with a channel number pad but I hate theĀ  idea of people paying 15 a month for the Gemini streaming box when you can just purchase a RokuĀ  for a one-time cost of about fifty dollars and use it to stream for years and years to come yes theĀ  new DirecTV satellite or via internet plans have a lower starting price and that two-year priceĀ  guarantee but I do not think it's a good value because of the Hidden fees generally speaking IĀ  don't recommend DirecTV or even
DirecTV stream to most people unless you really want Regional SportsĀ  networks and for a Time DirecTV stream which are only streaming option for those networks now fuboĀ  has them so that may be another service to look at but if you want to cut your costs you reallyĀ  want to get away from these high priced premium live TV services and look at more affordableĀ  options I'm Michael and I thank you for watching

Just more proof that DirecTV hasn't changed a bit. AT&T is still the majority stock holder, and this shows it.

@armzzer0

Those fees are not "Hidden". It's disclosed on the website and it is on the bill. Maybe "Additional Fees" is more applicable since they are added on top of the base package's cost after discount.

@juicebox5595

After many years with direct tv I cut the cable today and now a subscriber of YouTube tv. So far very happy with my decision

@craigphillips6308

Love baseball, but thereā€™s no way Iā€™m paying $100 a month for the privilege of watching my home team. No way!

@thegracepreacher321

Thanks Michael! With DirecTV, we should have known šŸ˜…

@donhgr

I have the lowest stream plan and have had it about 7 months. No hidden fees and like it way better than YouTube TV as far as Chanel line up. No contract and use Apple TVs for my devices

@charlesig7098

I purchased service over the phone and bought a renewed Gemini outright and they signed me up for DirecTV stream instead of regular DirecTV to avoid the ARS fee.

@boneyard1434

I just recently cancelled my direct tv service and the person that I talked to on the phone told me that I didnā€™t have to return the equipment but I kept it for about a month and then I got a letter saying that I had to return all the equipment or I would get a charge of $135 a month until it was returned so be careful if you cancel any service with any company , donā€™t just take their word for it get it in writing whether or not they want any equipment back or not

@dankelley9361

Great coverage of these companies that are still lying to you about out the door pricing. I thought there was an alleged new bill/law to get passed forcing companies to tell the full price, no more hidden fees, what happened to that?

@DJaquithFL

"Fake Price Alert" .. translated, business per usual for a cable company.

@kclefthanded427

This is a no brainer. But it all depends if you want regional sports networks, just get a $50 Roku device instead

@thedude2897

Directv Stream is selling the outdated 2020 Osprey boxes as Geminis at least for current customers. I ordered one under my account only to get the old box.

@user-wd2cs7xs9d

You can now cancel your service now online without customer service now

@rem145

Itā€™s a real challenge getting senior citizens used to this off these high priced services. And to see the light of how things work now.

@biblebelter9772

With AT&T is not about cable, it goes all the way back to telco. I remember when you could NOT own your own phone and you were charged a monthly fee depending on the phone. I had Direct TV for many years and got rid of it not long after AT&T took over. I moved from satellite to Sling when it was the only bundler of streaming services. In the beginning of internet, my only choice was AT&T DSL. AT&T is a terrible corporation. In Illinois they pleaded guilty to bribery concerning landline legislation. This being Illinois the justice for the bribers comes more quickly than justice than for the receiver of the bribe who was the longest serving speaker of the House in Illinois. AT&T is the WORST and considering the cable companies are their competitors, that says a lot.

@leosalas41ify

Direct Streaming for me, yea cost a bit more, but it has all the a&e programming and others where YouTube streaming does not. Also, I like the menu guide. The heart favorite selection is easily available without going to a separate menu to select. That's only a few reasons I've gone with direct tv streaming.

@johanalvarez895

Unfortunately only direct tv stream and spectrum offer the lakers and dodgers channel in my area

@matthewd4156

Thank you for posting this video!!

@louiee4837

Directv is also so freaking expensive

@f5fstop

I usually like your videos they are informative; however, why not just come out and admit you are advertising in almost all videos for Roku? It appears quite obvious. And I do use a Roku for an older TV in my exercise room and it is a great device, not sure it is the number one device for use on TVs since most TVs sold today are either classified as "smart" or "android." Just saying....
