What Are Those Yellow Spots On My Car? It's Bee Poop! - Chemical Guys Car Wash

What's behind yellow spots on autos? Yellow (mustard looking) dots all over the paint, windows, and glass? What are those damn yellow drops all over my car? We sent some off to the lab and had it analyzed. The results are in... It's bee poop! These yellow spots contain digested flower nectar, traces of honey, and pollen. Honey bees, bumble bees, and carpenter bees all leave their waste behind as they fly around on their daily business. As busy bees buzz from one flower to another drinking delicious nectar, they have to poop... and they've got to poop somewhere! And just like birds in flight, bees poop wherever they please... which tends to be on shiny clean cars parked near their buzzing grounds. You'll notice lots of these yellow spots on your car if you park by flowering plants, trees, forests, meadows, gardens, vineyards, or pastures. You may notice you have more of them during certain times of year (when bees are more active,) and fewer of them at other times of year (when bees are hibernating.) It may not always be bee poop; sometimes airplane fuel or other airborne pollution lands on cars. But you'll notice these yellow spots on your car even when you're parked nowhere near an airport or the flight paths of any airplanes. Cleaning bee droppings off your car is easy to do if you use the right methods. Bee poop is not as caustic or dangerous as bird droppings, but it can harm the paint if left for too long or wash incorrectly. We cleaned this Tesla that was lousy with bee poop with Chemical Guys EcoSmart and a microfiber towel. The waterless car wash solution helps break down the stuck-on yellow dots, lubricate any abrasive pollen and dust particles, then pick it all up without installing any swirls or scratches. The blended-in natural carnauba wax formula helps protect and shine the car until the next wash, and helps repel future bee droppings from sticking to the paint. The eco-friendly and bee-friendly formula cleaned off all the poop from the paintwork, plastic headlights, side window glass, and even the windshield without any swirls, scratches, streaks, smudges, or problems. And the best part about EcoSmart is it's convenience. Keep a bottle of EcoSmart and a microfiber towel in the trunk, and take down bee droppings and other incidents whenever they pop up: anywhere, any time. http://www.chemicalguys.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=WAC_707RU_16&Click=18676&utm_source=Social&utm_medium=YouTube&utm_campaign=WAC_707RU_16 Now you can keep your car clean without feeling the sting of dirty yellow spots all over the place! Welcome back to Detail Garage! Today we're working on this beautiful Tesla Model S here in the shop. Now we were looking at it to inspect it before we decided how to wash the car. We can see the car was covered in all these little yellow spots. So we get a lot of questions about what are these little yellow spots and how do I take care of them or will they stain or damage the paint. So we get a lot of questions about what it is and we've actually had some of these residues removed from the car a
nd analyzed in a lab. When you look at it under a microscope the technicians were able to see that it's full of pollen and digested nectar. That means its bee poop. So bees eat nectar and pollen from the flowers and move from one to another and go back to their hive but when they're out and about they have to poop. Their just like birds and they'll poop all over your car and that's where you get this little spots from. So the good thing is it's not too caustic and it's not as bad as bird poop wh
ich will etch your paint because it's very acidic. Bee poop is fairly neutral but it gets annoying and it's ugly and it's actually abrasive if it isn't removed correctly. So we're going to show you how to take it off without damaging the paint in anyway. I'm just going to use some EcoSmart because we're indoors and I don't want to worry about using a hose or bucket. So I'm just going to clean the car using EcoSmart and a couple microfiber towels. So to get started by spraying down your surface.
I'm just going to start on the hood. And I'll get a nice coat of EcoSmart over the paintwork. Now whenever you're cleaning with a waterless method I'll take my towel and wipe in one direction that way I pick any dirt with the towel as I go and I don't grind it into the surface and cause scratches. Flip the towel once it gets dirty. And proceed to wipe in one direction. Now this whole side of the towel is dirty so I'll flip it over and expose a clean side and keep wiping. So now that I've cleaned
this half of the hood you can see that I still have some yellow spots stuck on the surface. So what I'm going to do is flip to a completely clean side of the towel so there is no dirt at all on this side of the towel. Now I have to spray a little more EcoSmart right on the surface. But I don't want to focus on just one spot because I'll be wasting product as it runs away. Instead I'm going to spray some EcoSmart right into the towel. I'll focus with a little bit of the towel and gently rub. You
see all the spots immediately breaking off and lifting off the surface so I'll wipe them up. Now that spot is all clean. I've removed all the bits of pollen and bee poop from the surface. I'll move on to this next spot and do the same trick. There you go you might be able to see a little bit of residue so I'll take some more EcoSmart and buff it totally dry. It's also very important you keep your car waxed and you keep your car sealed at all times. So any little bits like bee poop or airplane f
uel you need to take it off the paint so it won't etch the paint and cause permanent damage. So I have a lot of the car left to do because the whole car is covered in this contamination. It's on the paint, it's on the clear plastic head lights, the grill, the windshield and even the chrome on the side view mirrors. So I have a lot of contamination to remove. I'll start by doing a 50/50 so you can see the before and after of cleaning. After that we're going to clean the rest of the car. So if you

Came here to see what all the buzz was about; I knew I wouldn't bee disappointed.

I have a bee keeper close to my job and my car is always covered in bee poop. I just recently had my car detailed to remove all the poop as it wasn't coming off at a regular car wash. I wish I had know about this product beforehand but I've since purchased it and am looking forward to see how it works. It's so annoying getting this stuff on my car every day. Very hard to remove without a good product.

@danielohkay

Observed bee poop fall on my forearm today and wondered what it was. Googled and ended up here 👍

@BernardoSilva70

@mrnguy7119

Yellow spots, I was blaming those airplane when emptying their toilet on passing by over head, good to know that it's a Bee poo.

@MarkRuttan

Frass, which is the excrement of insects, including bees, is typically dry and in the form of small, solid pellets. Unlike wet grass clippings, frass is not known to splatter on cars or other surfaces. The size and consistency of frass pellets make it unlikely for them to splatter or stick to a moving vehicle. They are generally dry and lightweight, so they are more likely to scatter or disperse when disturbed rather than splatter like a liquid substance. However, it's worth noting that frass is typically produced by insects near their nesting or feeding areas, and these areas may sometimes coincide with places where cars are parked or passing by. In such cases, it is possible for frass pellets to land on a stationary or parked car if there is direct contact or close proximity to the insect activity. If you find frass on your car, it can usually be easily brushed or wiped away. It is generally not a significant concern or cause for damage or staining like some other substances might be.

@sweatybetty-ps3ru

You got some beautiful cars man fair play ✌️

@stephenlouden480

yesss. I love these bees! I just acquired a while neiborhood of cars to clean the poop off their cars. I just did 16 cars this week in one community. now I'll be in there maintaining and washing and waxing all the cars. protected cars it's really easy to come off after you foam the car and wait a minute it emulsifies it all and comes of so easy. thanks for business, bees. 😆 I'm sure it's not just bees but other flying infects that digest pollen n poop

@scottsuhre2514

I have seen mosquito hawks make similar marks on my car. For some reason the love to just fly by and just touch the surface. It makes sense now because it's likely they're transferring pollen to the surface as well.

@bigboycars

Great topic. I was thinking it’s from the small birds.

@Aviatorkayla

God damn bees and pollen ruining my nice white paint. It penetrates and stains rapidly regardless of how much wax and sealant I apply to my car. At this rate the car is going to need to be clay barred every 2 months! Clay is an abrasive so I won’t be doing that. What else should I do about this? My lovely white paint is all stained again and I’m about to give up.

@Pawelusable

I have a quite big new cars storage and a beekeeper close to my this. Got big problem with bee pops. Is there a coating that really protects against bee droppings?

@davidf8322

My car is covered in thousands of these spots as well as sap! Any advice!?

@prabhakarnegi2031

I thought they are from some flowers. Washed my car and after an hour I again saw many spots on my car again. ☹️☹️☹️Ended up visiting the video!

@wildwestunlimited

Note to self -- My next car will be the color of bee poop!!

@humbertozavala8470

Can I spray wax my car every week?
