When $2B facility opens, Amkor will become Peoria's largest private employer

The planned $2 billion Amkor Technology Inc. semiconductor packaging and testing plant that was greenlit this week by Peoria City Council is set to draw an international spotlight and could level the playing field for jobs in the West Valley.

e but don't put it here Larry Boris lives in vistancia he spoke during the city council meeting earlier this week voicing his concerns about the location of the new semiconductor packaging and testing plant near his neighborhood there's a lot of concern cuz people moved here for specific reasons to be in a quiet area commercial away from commercial uh not to have a lot of uh the the traffic not to have the nois the air pollution uh and there's going to be construction for 9 years years the site
will also be home to 5 North a shopping center with restaurants and apartments as well as a school something residents were concerned about being impacted by adding amcore to the mix I talk to the heads of ala today um they're extremely excited about it um as again I talk to the developer of vistansia they're extremely excited about it I talked to multiple restaurant tours that are actually signing contracts they're extremely excited about it additionally mayor Jason Beck said the sight of amcor
e will be further south more near the 303 and noise will be minimal he called the project vital to Bringing economic growth to the city you know the reality is the majority of citizens love this project the majority of citizens know that if we're creating jobs we can bring that growth of restaurants and all the amenities with that the project is estimated to create 2,000 jobs and will be operational by 2027 in the meantime mayor Beck said he welcomes comments and open discussion something Larry

What are they doing to make sure there are no environmental issues? We already have how many super fund sites in Arizona? How does it work?

Larry, you are out of touch, the city (Peoria) planning for that area will multiply by 1000 fold. The only reason why the development hasn't started is because TSMC asked all surrounding cities to delay projects until the facility (TSMC) is near completion.
