The Deshbhakt

5 months ago

Politics is full of big talks ... Five year plans - 5th largest GDP in the world, RBI reserves have broken the record, etc. There is not much discussion if after studying for 5 years, you get a good job or not. After having 5th largest GDP, what about your GDP, i.e. your per capita income? Or leave the Reserve Bank, your reserves, how much money is left in your bank balance? Similarly, in geopolitics, we know more about Ukraine vs Russia, China vs USA, Trudeau vs vs Modi. But we don't pay attent
ion to the fact that our students are migrating to Ukraine, Russia, America, Canada or even China. Skilled labour, high net worth individuals, we are exporting them all over the world, we have become world leaders in that but now, in the Amrit Kaal, a record number of students are also quitting India. Look at the figures, they are shocking. 7.5 lakh Indian students have left India in just 2022. Don't expect them to come back. It is statistically proven that Indian students are least likely to co
me back. They want to stay abroad. Anti-national. Between 2021-2022, Indian student visas saw an increase of 43% That means, in total, more than 1 lakh students have received visa approval. And we are twice as many as China, which sends its students abroad at second place. This Make In India export to the world is going well. And there is no fault of students or parents in this. I will not blame them at all. Global IT companies have sacked 2 lakh employees in the month of May, 2023. And many IT
companies, even today, big IT companies are hiring engineers for 25,000 or 30,000 salaries 42.3% Indian graduates who are under 25 years of age do not even get a job. So much development has happened that nowadays what is the need to find a job? And this situation of unemployment - no one has a solution for it. Let's be honest. Neither the government nor the opposition they don't much talk about it. So not talking about the problem will solve it. PM delivered a long speech on employment. But he
didn't just talk about employment. He gave a lot of information on everything. Online learning, tech progress, gadgets, G20 success, India becoming a world leader, Women's Reservation Bill, Chandrayaan 3, Amrit Kaal, how people should do their duty talked about the new parliament, but no talk about the employment opportunities, employment numbers. The government itself has admitted in the parliament that only after the pandemic last year, about 70% more students have gone abroad to study. That i
s 4.5 lakhs in 2021 and 7.5 lakh students in 2022. But why this 70% increase in one year after 70 years? Let's find out in today's Deshbhakt episode. ~subscribe and press the bell icon~ The degree you have obtained from college, whether it is the best in your district or the best in the country, Delhi University or any expensive private university, your condition will be almost the same. You didn't get any knowledge from your degree and you weren't taught any skill which will make you employable
in today's knowledge economy. Even if you learn something by mistake, you don't have a job in the field, you don't have money, Even if you get it, there are so many layoffs, there is a lot of pressure, there is a toxic work atmosphere, there was a new era of start-ups, but now the light is dimming. You must have thought that if you take a loan, you can go out and do Masters ... then you will get a work visa. If not that, work like a donkey abroad earn on daily basis ... that is better than noth
ing and life of humiliation This clip went viral on the internet. Many Indian youth are entering America illegally. Entry in USA is already tough. People can die while crossing the border. But now, Trudeau has also started fighting with us, there is racism in Australia. Now even Sunak bhai has betrayed us. He has started to put restrictions on our Indian students. No work in home. No entry abroad. Then youth will say, what to do in that situation? I will give four main points in this video. But
before knowing those four main points, you should understand that this video will be short and tight. Because we know that you don't have much free time between job hunting and visa application. But if you have decided to go abroad or if you want to upskill yourself, then you should know about Cambly. Cambly is the partner of today's episode and their English style is very unique. You cannot learn English in a class staring at a blackboard. It takes practice. If there is no one to practice Engli
sh with, no problem - Cambly has a solution. There are more than 20,000 native English speakers with whom you can practice from UK, US and Canada. Classes are interactive and live. And you will get a chance to learn English in a non-judgmental way. if you want to increase your education prospects or you want to go abroad or you want to become an expert in English language, then this is a very valuable tool for you. Now, interestingly, you can experience Cambly for only Rs. 44 with a 15-minute sa
mple class with a teacher of your choice. And if you like this class, then after this, you can choose a one-on-one class or you can also sign up for group classes, with students from all over the world From global exposure let's come to local exposure. First, let's talk about the systematic failure of our education system. Whether you get a job or not, being a degree holder is a big deal in our country. Because higher education is neither affordable nor accessible. If you have this, you are priv
ileged. Enrollment rate is very low in our country. Even if you get admission, say by selling jewelry, there is no guarantee that you will get a job and your life will be set. There are a lot of dropout rates in India, especially for those groups who are already marginalized. So, there are very few opportunities. But by luck, you reached university and got degree. What then? If we talk about the number of universities, in the case of degree colleges, we come in the third place in the world, in n
umbers. We'd get a bronze medal. But, if you talk about universities, except for a few top universities, the quality is absolutely bad. The system of accreditation and quality control, National Assessment and Accreditation Council, 65% universities and 86% colleges have not been accredited. Meaning, UGC is saying, that you can run your university, but quality is not checked. You will get many such fake colleges and fake degrees as well. Okay, fine, you may have got a degree in a good government
college. You are very lucky and hardworking. 10 lakh people gave JEE and you are among those 10,000 who got into IIT. Or you got a cut-off of DU, JNU. But there is no proper funding, no education. Expenditure on R&D is only 0.7%. Global average in R&D spending is 1.8% of GDP Central government expenditure on education is also continuously slipping. It is decreasing when it should be increasing. That means, for stipend also hunger strike has to be done, and fees will not be increased. So, if you
are not born in a rich family then don't dream too much. Higher education will be too difficult And I am not saying that the government is not interested in education. Of course, there is. If there was no interest then they would not spend crores in funding their student unions or change vice chancellor Not only higher education, govt also has interest in primary level textbooks - from Mughals to Vir Savarkar flying on bird - govt is taking interest Even saying that Sanskrit should be compulsory
in higher education. But will you get a job with it or not? That's different thing And that is also a different thing that you are getting some benefit from this interest in education. Education of elite government universities is neither holistic nor up to date. According to the State of Working India report published by Azim Premji University, 42.3% of Indian graduates who are under 25 years of age are not getting jobs. That is why some parents are sending their children to elite private univ
ersities by giving 12 lakh rupees a year, so that they can get good international level elite education, which may give them a job. The government has now made it clear in this model that you can party with money. But if you ask harsh questions, if you survey in the name of academic freedom, release uncomfortable data against the government, then they will make you pay Which has happened in Ashoka University recently. And whether the degree is expensive or cheap, whether it is top college or fak
e.... After graduation, your situation will be the same. job market will devour you alive. You may have done Masters in Financial Inclusion in Global South. But for the job of tallying the account sheet, your waitlist is stuck at number 5. Why so? the prime time anchors will not be able to answer you. So you will have to find the answer yourself The government has no business in doing business, so Privatization is going on... Family silver is being sold ... Government jobs are done away with.
Even the jobs that were there, they are not getting recruitment to a great extent. As of 2022, 10 lakh posts are vacant only in central government offices. Now when will they fill up? When will a new job open up? People keep preparing for exam and get old Despite our market-friendly, capitalist, liberal model, the private sector is sinking. Make-in-India is not happening. New factory not opening. Even after 4 rounds of interviews and 2 tests, the one who gets the job is the one who has a uncle i
n company's management Recruitment scene is shaky, as global layoffs happening in IT field. There is atmosphere of fear. Ruthless free market economy is a challenge for everyone, but CEO salary is not decreasing. After hard work, after paying fees, degree may be there but person may not be employable or there may be no opportunities. 90% Indians work in the informal sector. The condition of this sector was always bad. But getting worse now. Take the uncertainty of the gig economy, take the lack
of safety net, which the union, labor laws and welfare boards provided security to some extent are slowly disappearing or are being made to disappear in the name of efficiency. If this is a domestic situation, then an educated unemployed person can only dream of one thing, a visa. He will go abroad and earn at least a daily wage. He won't have to bear the humiliation of India. But the situation outside is equally bad. Only rich kids are able to afford the fees of the masters. Because the value o
f our rupee is slowly sliding Fees, rent, grocery, the budget of the rich kids in India is also getting tight. They are not even able to afford a Starbucks coffee. Along with studies, you work on minimum wage for 8-10 hours, and then try to make ends meet. Remember, this developed country is attracting our students, this brain drain from India, this alienation in the name of studies, they are calling us there not to make us owners. We have to work on minimum wage, have to spend so that the maste
r's degree is completed. But even after the master's degree, there are still fewer opportunities. People are realizing that they are trapped in a poverty trap even after going abroad and finding low-income jobs. On top of that, the American Dream is also in a bad shape. Due to global layoffs and recession, recruitment in US and Canada is slowing down. Salaries are also low. Dollar Dream is slipping from our hands. But no one wants to come back after giving up. We live in exploited system, like a
n exploited class. Maybe we can get a visa in the US. But the job market is already tight there. What can happen with Canada due to diplomatic tensions? Time will tell. In UK, Sunak Bhaiya has already said that current levels of immigration are too high. UK Home Secretary has accused that Indians are the largest group of people who overstay their visas. Why? Why people are not coming back in Amrit Kaal? You know well about racism and xenophobia in Australia. By the way, this is also increasing i
n UK, Canada and US. This is the condition of our country's degree holders. This is the condition of legal immigrants. Our education is increasing the unemployment youth And this is the condition of you and millions of young people like you, who are the biggest asset of this country. It was supposed to be the demographic dividend, population boom, which the government should have used in the creation of India as a manufacturing hub, a creative hub, but that did not happen And now we are being m
isled by a warning that there is a threat, but ultimately, the threat is only to you and me and our future. Look, this problem is very complex. Unemployment, and quitting India, and going abroad, the solution is also difficult. But 90% solution will be found from the basic steps. You will have to increase investment in primary and higher education. Focus on R&D You will have to update curriculum. And you will have to make education holistic. Not only us, our new education policy also recommends
this. Let's see what implementation is. The government will have to get involved. Government will have to invest more money. Quality will have to be checked. And make a conducive economic system where jobs increase. But as long as the government wants to include pranayama in the syllabus, Sanskrit, wants to take the job of professors in college who say two words to criticize the government, till then educated unemployed will be there in India So, they will have PhD and apply for a job of peon, o
r stand outside an embassy for a visa. ~subscribe and press bell icon~ I have said before on The Deshbhakt that expect less from system and upskill yourself on your own One of the first steps in this would be fluency and proficiency in English Cambly is an amazing tool to equip in English I have given the link of Cambly below. You can use it in a trial with only Rs 44 and then decide to use further. Link is in the description. Best of luck.

@ishita.ishu.p1303

Mere school me career counselor aye the aur ham sab ko upsc neet jee prepare karne ke liye bol rahe the. When I said I want to be an artist they humiliated me infront of others, laughed mocked saying choose something real but hey! 3 years from now. I am making a living being a fulltime artist today❤ and I'm really planning on pursuing my studies abroad cause that has the exact course I'm looking for. They even offered me a scholarship 🥰

@ranjithagirish3879

My cousin literally started his life from scratch - zero inheritance and nothing except degree, and now he got IJP in his company at the age of 36 to Singapore long-term and now he’s the happiest he’s been in his entire life.

@panakulrana284

There is abundance of jobs available in India like selling pakodas,MBA CHAI WALA, BTECH PANI PURI. Thank you Gobi ji.

@ashishvenkateshgad47

As an engineer in UK after studying here, though the medical here is not upto any standards, the quality of life and the savings I can send back is monumental. I can confirm that the quality of education I received here in 1 year was significantly better than my 4 years of engineering. I struggled to get a job as a graduate in India but got a job even before I graduated in UK... Speaks levels about the experience outside our education and economic system.

@pharaohakhneton9553

I came across this episode on 15/10/2023. I am 70 and horrified at the chilling prospects awaiting our youth. If it is the fate of educated youth, I shudder to think of what would be the fate of uneducated,unskilled youth, particularly at a time when even the manufacturing sector is automated due ro advancement of AI etc. How long can people be fed on dreams of golden Era based on a particular ideology. You are a real thinker.

@ajiteshdas751

Currently in the US. Hence giving my point of view. 1) here, although tuition fees can seem high due to currency exchange values you can get scholarships (both merit and means based) and university funds through TA/GRA jobs ($12-15/hr @ 20 hrs/week). That is a big difference in how you can fund your education here. The loan from Indian banks becomes more like a buffer rather than a lifeline. 2) you can do summer and fall internships (6-7 months). This adds to your funds available 3) the ratio of annual salary to education cost is 2-3x. That is on the lower side. While in India that ratio is ~0.75-1.5x. This means that you can pay off your education loan in less than a year in the US while in India it can take 2-3 years. (Assuming you are tight on your expenses and only spending on basic necessities- rent, utilities, groceries and travel for first few years after college) 4) Although inflation has gone up in last 2-3 years, your monthly groceries expenses will not exceed beyond 2-3%. Since you will have to buy a car here to commute, travel expenses including your car EMI+ Insurance + fuel will not exceed 10% (depending on your APY and tenure). Only rent fluctuates depending on the city you live in. It can vary anywhere from 10-30%. In India, monthly groceries will usual cost about 10-12% of your monthly salary (considering 50-60k which is slightly above mean salaries). Rent can easily cross 40-50% of your salary (considering places like Bangalore with 20-25k for a 1 bhk now. Maybe lower depending on your location. But it will never be below 20%.) add travel using a 2 wheeler which is affordable but your fuel expenses will add up. 5) here you are not pigeonholed into certain roles based on your education. For example, I have seen people with M Ed working in Marketing or even Architecture. In India, M Ed is only for teaching jobs or getting a higher secondary level teaching job vs only high school levels. 6) Although US now ranks lower in R&D spending vs GDP ratio and ranks lower in number of original papers (China is highest right now I think) it still spends 6% of its GDP in education. That’s ~9x of what India spends. (Hence the university funds for TA/GRA jobs which helps with your education fees) There is definitely struggle here. Getting a job after graduation, getting a good salary to service your loan, getting an immigrant visa sponsorship and finally your GC (which is currently 100 years 😅). But overall you get to experience a lot and it adds to your profile. You’ll not remain in debt with your education loan if you decide to move back to India. Or try some other countries for immigration. Every immigrant struggles through this. Also you get to know people from other countries especially ones from our neighbouring countries who are also struggling with you. Long post I guess but I would encourage people to try for masters outside if not bachelors.

@sidpan19

As someone planning to apply for Master's in the coming year, I can totally relate to this content. Seriously man, our country's employment state is in complete shambles

@moiz350

I am totally with you Akash bro. After PhD, I tried to search job for 2 years but cannot get any in India. But I was selected within 2 month when I tried in US. I wanted to serve my country but may be my country didn’t need me. Shayad yahi hai wo ache din jo Modi g ne kahe the.

@sandeeproy1327

As a father of a Class 11 Kid, I totally agree with you. I have made up my mind to send my daughter abroad for higher studies, both for educational, career, and social reasons. India/Bharat (whatever you call it) is going down the pits.

@sabihasayed8389

This is very serious matter indeed, education aur jobs ki deterioration ke baare me Ravish Kumar ne kaafi pehle hi bahot saare prime time show kiye the, lekin phir bi youth ke problems theek se address nahi hue, thanks Aakash for raising this issue 👍

@NSq12

As an International student from UK, what you said is correct. There is no future for our country under this undemocratic leadership. They are working for some cronies instead of improving education, healthcare and jobs sector.

@sppremsarimella4915

contries like USA, UK, China, canada, Aussies, JAPAN, Singapore improved & improving their Quality in education. least bothered abt Religion. in india we have IIT's, IIM's, AIIMS, bcoz of Jawahar Lal Nehru. now the politics focus on WINNING again not the quality in Edu. ex: ISRO scientists not paid salaries for more than a Year, but Govt celebrates chandrayaan-3 as it is their own success.

@Msnabanita87

I came here (abroad) as an educator and started doing various roles in school and advanced into admin jobs and learned so much in few yrs that it felt like my brain had few glitches. Education even though isn’t perfect and has it’s own flaws but is so much better than our country. Students go out of secondary school with work experience, CV and scholarships they can avail. There is so much focus on practical skills development and application of knowledge. The system of teaching is absolutely different and sometimes takes a while for a teacher to adjust. Rote learning is never encouraged here and so many techniques help students learn and retain information without spending loads of time. They train teachers well for it and pay is better than engineers in IT companies in India, if you’re able to perform and loads more holidays are there to balance work and family life. However, learning seamless communication and advanced tech skills is the key alongside being adaptable.

@visionuz199

Independent and factual journalism has become rare these days, thank you for your fair insights! 👍

@asterx_obelix653

It really doesn't have to do with the present leadership. I got a PhD in space sciences from a leading university in the US, tried coming to work for ISRO about 6 years back, and they asked me to take GATE to be "eligible" without even considering my resume. The system is broken beyond the government. India only makes sense if you are majoring in CS, EE, or business.

@bazlur-rahman

India needs German and Swiss educational systems and to open technical institutions like electricians, plumbers, and construction workers. Need skilled workers for every production, even farming, then there will be no unemployed people. The world has huge deficits of technical people.

@a4aasim

As I am watching this I have ₹980 in my account.. for a 38yo post double graduate having 2 kids..this is a shame and scary at the same time.😢
