WHY TEACH ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

hi there G here again um this video will be a  little bit different I want to talk about why it's good to be an English teacher teach English as a  foreign language um start with a few of the things that are different so before I was a personal  trainer and gym manager so I had a change of career so one positive for me as a English teacher  was having a different professional experience as before I would say teaching English as a foreign  language isn't a good first career I think it's good to h

ave worked and some of fiiled before  I think it's a job that requires a bit of life experience that's different to um what's actually  required in the job itself that's quite good um one of my absolute favorites is Mee and pable from  other cultures so I started uh in local schools in Sal by you where I live most these people with  a same background but pandemic time I made a big uh switch to mainly online and just online most of  the time and it opened up people from other states of Brazil I'v

e not visited a lot of these states  in Brazil but uh some of these places I've never been so get a chance to talk to and meet people  from different places I started I've had a couple of international students through Linkedin and I  use a platform called live XP gets your students from all over the world so these are countries  I've never been to you can teach people talk to people that you would never meet in another career  or on another another platform in another way You' need the Internet

for this and it's that kind of  job that gets you a chance to experience other cultures it's quite a flexible job so you can  maintain a work life balance if you do things correctly um you manage your time properly you  have time to do other things other personal commitments other professional commitments uh if  that's the case the flexibility is very good it's they they're some of the things I like most so  you're looking flexibility meeting other people different cultures um it's a job that c

hallenges  you in a different way and you experience makes you appreciate your own language and culture  a bit more you really think about things um I think it's important that you do remember things  about your own country makes you think about your own language in a different way too you could  be speaking reading and writing English to a very very high level without even knowing it as  a native speaker you maybe don't always think about why grammar's a certain way uh I could form  all the ten

ses without a problem before I started English because I'm literate but labeling them all  and labeling every aspect of grammar something you learn to do so you you are more conscious of your  own language and it also helps you learn other languages meeting new people so that's why it's  good uh to teach English as a foreign language it's a way you can use your language that you knew  already uh if you're native anywhere non native it's a different experience and that wouldn't be  one I would be

able to share that's something for a non-native English teacher to discuss but  it's a way of something you've already known and taking for granted English language sharing  it with people who want to learn it and that's always quite good different people and they  share that there's a cultural exchange which is an interesting part hope you found this  interesting if you are a if you're a language teacher not necessarily just English could be  any language uh guess you understand English if you
