Work in travel hiring fair being held in Cleveland

Hundreds of people are making their way to downtown Cleveland for a hospitality industry job fair. Organizers say it's critical to hold this event. It was a busy afternoon at the Huntington Convention Center. There are booths from 16 different employers, 12 hotels and 4 venues. right now hundreds of people are making their way to Downtown Cleveland for a hospitality industry job fair organizers of the work and travel hiring Fair say with all the big events coming to the city this year this event is critical arai tqu joins us live now from the Huntington Convention Center Kor we previewed this story last week how's it going out there now well it's pretty busy right now the event has been going on for about 3 hours at this point and if you take a look around you can see
boots for 16 different employers that's 12 hotels and four venues including the Huntington Convention Center the Great Lake Science Center the Guardians and Levy restaurants the Cleveland hotel association tells us over 200 people pre-registered for this Fair which is great because there are over 250 job openings here to fill in everything from Administration to housekeeping to even security the GM for Hilton Cleveland Downtown says this is a first ofit kind event for the city the first thing wa
s to raise awareness of our industry and the amazing career opportunities that we have to offer to also raise awareness of um you know the season ahead how we've come out of the pandemic uh we're going to have great occupancy levels coming up we have great events such as the women's final four the solar eclipse asae the panm games and we want to be ready to be able to service um all those people coming in to to visit us here in Cleveland the Cleveland hotel association tells us that right now 12
% of Hotel positions are open Citywide that's down compared to 2022 when it was 24% of positions that were open now this event goes until 6:00 tonight and anyone is welcome to come on down but coming up at 5:00 we are going to have a preview we're going to talk with the organizer who's going to tell us why they wanted to make sure that this event was accessible to everyone including those with disabilities and we'll be talking to some applicants as well Matt yeah Kor we know there's been a lot o
