tonight on your health keeping you and others safe on the highway the state's Move Over law has expanded to include disabled vehicles to explain here s and news reporter Sandy Torres De Forest Hollis is doing some work along Interstate 81 you see any type of flashing lights give us space to work um it's it's dangerous out there and it's tough you know I want to go home to my family so New York's Move Over law makes it mandatory for drivers to move over a lane when they see flashing lights vest o
r reflectors it's crazy you know it's you know 65 mph people you know driving and it's just tough and uh we're out you know we got work Zone set up you know lane closures uh people are just not paying attention sometimes and one accident will cause the life and the Move Over Law is now expanded to include disabled Vehicles see one and you must move over no matter if it's on the right or left side of the interstate Jefferson County Sheriff P Barnett says in the county it is common to see disable
vehicles on the side of the road especially in the winter time every vehicle that's on either side of the shoulder um slow down move over safely and use you know good common sense when you're out there and again when you're on these roadways uh two hands on the wheel nobody should be texting uh that operator of that vehicle should be in control and observing everything uh as they should according to the governor's office from 2016 to 2020 37 people were killed outside disabled vehicles in New Yo
