but first developing story out of Fairmount Park where two people are now facing murder and related charges in connection with what police call and execution style shooting thanks for joining us here at 5:00 I'm Jason Martinez I'm Sheba Russell the victims were shot and left for dead on the side of the road police offering more details on this case just a few hours ago Steve what have you learned well those two weeks have passed since those victims were found in a horrific scene in Fount Park an
d today the victim's families found out who did it and what happened courtesy of the Philly police here at headquarters and what they learned was through the surveillance at the bar and talking to Folks at the bar that both couples the accused and the victims were regulars there at a bar right off only's Transportation Center there at Broad and Al so we have them leaving the bar at at about 9:40 in the evening we then have uh we pick up the the kage Sportage that Miss uh Johnson owns in the 3,80
0 block of Mount Pleasant about 20 minutes later and that is where the bodies of 48-year-old thirston Cooper and 39-year-old Christina Chambers were found side by side shot to death execution style in a gully off the road of Mount Pleasant drive here in Fairmount Park on February 29th police found out the victims had just been at tups Tavern on West only Avenue and that's where detectives then got these surveillance photos of this man in a Dallas Cowboys hat once put out to the public the next d
ay 52-year-old Lamar young young saw himself in these photos and turned himself in and then within minutes of that I was on North Broad Street with the Philadelphia police Highway Patrol when they stopped Young's acquaintance 56-year-old Dale Johnson driving the red Kia Sportage detectives found out was used in the murders it was seen on surveillance in Fairmount Park right near the murder scene that night and detectives found out D Johnson had a permit to carry a concealed weapon today Johnson
and young were charged with the murders over what detectives now believe is not any major reason but a leading motive they see so much in Philadelphia that leads to murders these days a simple argument I think it was a dispute in the bar um may have been may have been based on previous contact uh they you know for all we know they may have had contact in the past that was uh you know was an issue between them well the victims voluntarily got into that Kia Sportage that night because that was see
n on the bar surveillance footage not by force but by choice they were planning to leave before 10:00 that night detective said and we going to call for an Uber but then we're offered a ride by the accused Killers never thinking they were about to be driven through their deaths Jason Sheba just still so perplexing Steve exactly what that argument may have been over all right than thank you
