This baby leopard is only 2 days old. He was found all alone outside in a sugarcane field. The rescuers need to find his mom right away. But first, they have to check him out to make sure he's OK to go back to the wild. How much do you weigh, little guy? 614 grams. That's a good baby cub weight! A leopard this little really needs his mom right now, but can they find her? These rescuers have saved a lot of animals in the wild, like this monitor lizard who had gotten trapped in a wall, until they
carefully brought him back to a much better place for giant lizards. Or this vulture who couldn't fly. So, they helped her feel safe enough to eat and drink. And when they saw her starting to get her energy back, they brought her to a field, hoping she was now strong enough to fly away. And...she was! They had even helped a different leopard mama, who was raising her cubs very close to humans. The rescuers kept people away and taught them how important it was to let the leopard move the babies w
hen she felt ready. And three days later, she brought them back into the forest. So they weren't gonna give up until this cub found his mom. That's when the rescuers spotted something in a nearby field: the cub's mama. She was waiting nearby, but she might not wait long. They couldn't bring the cub right over to her because she'd run away. So they dug a hole for the baby. They needed a way to keep him safe until it was dark and his mama would feel brave enough to get closer. You'll be OK, little
one. The sun was setting. It was almost time. They'd only have one chance. Was she still out there waiting for her baby? There she is! She can smell the cub inside. They're calling back and forth to each other. Maybe she's letting him know that she's here now. But she's too scared to come near. She must smell the scent of humans on the basket, too. Oh no. Is she gonna leave again? She still isn't feeling safe enough to get him out, but she really, really wants to. What was that? She puts one pa
w on, but no! Her ears are listening to every tiny noise. And then... She did it! But wait, she's listening again. Did she hear someone coming? Come on, mama. Your baby's right there! And he's out! She grabs him gently. She's still listening. Is it safe to go? Good job, rescuers! Another successful mission.
