Sina Sina Sina "Any day of the week with Sina" Hello, I'm Sina Valiollah presenting
to you another episode of... "Any day of the week"
from MBC Persia channel. This is our last episode in the year
1402 based on the solar calendar. The year that was called the year of
production growth and inflation control. But at the end... it turned out to be the year of
inflation growth and production stoppage. So we thought it is a good idea... to remember important
events of the last year. Unfortunately,
th
is year we had a lot of bad news. A lot of youngsters have been imprisoned, executed, or killed for no
reason, like Armita. May they rest in peace,
they will be remembered forever. Last year, many of our
compatriots suffered floods, earthquakes and
natural disasters. They are still suffering from them. Surely, you can remember that the first month
of this year was not a good start, and there was an earthquake
in the city of Khoy. At 6:45, an earthquake with a magnitude
of 5.6 on the Richter scal
e... shook Khoy city in West
Azerbaijan province. Just like the old saying "You can
know a good year based on its spring". Just like the goodness of
the Islamic Republic... which was obvious from the
beginning of its revolution. It started with execution,
imprisonment, war, famine, and bloodshed. And these things are still
happening to this day. A year that starts with an
earthquake, will end badly. But... you must know... if there is an earthquake, it is your fault. When adultery develops,
eart
hquakes will increase. Do you mean if people commit
adultery, there will be earthquakes? Isn't it more reasonable
if adultery causes flood? A flood in bed, not in a riverbed. As a great poet once said, something that happens in the bedroom, only shakes the bed. What should we do to escape
being trapped under the debris? Thank God that only adultery, which means sexual relations
between a man and woman, would cause sudden movement
along Earth's faults. It seems that sexual relations
between a man
and his brother-in-law. Continued reactions to the
release of the sex video of... the Director General of Islamic
Guidance of Gilan Province. and the masturbation video
of a Quran reciter... and a member of the city
council in Anzali harbor. The first official reaction of the
government after three days of silence. We are lucky, if instead of adultery, sodomy caused earthquakes, the way these religious fanatics
are attacking each other's cracks, it would made the Earth's faults to dance. When J
ennifer McCreight read the
speech of Hojatoleslam Seddiqi, She asked her friends to
wear revealing clothes. to test the theory that women's
immodesty causes earthquakes. More than 200,000 American
women participated in the rally. She named it the Boobquake. Was there an earthquake? Yes, yes, the Boobquake. Don't you have job to do? If their bullshit was
about to come true... you and your friends were eating charity
food at the mosque of the White House. When a calamity happens to
someone and God
tests someone, this is a lesson for
the rest of the people. I don't know why would not God test the
people of Thailand as a lesson for others. Why God? Why? I'm not saying flood or earthquake, at least shut down the grid
power of Pattaya for a week. So that we know you didn't have... a personal problem with cities
like Khoy or Zahab bridge. We should ward off evil by giving
charity and doing good deeds... because it is a divine test. Due to the large volume of
your pornographic videos... that h
ave been published, you have to pay more than
your income to charity. People who have been hurt
in the recent events... should not count on government aid. They have to help as much as they can... to solve the problem of survivors. No, you don't need to worry, people never count on you for anything. Your function is lower
than the toilet paper, because at least it is used
in critical situations. The Deputy Minister of Interior... and the head of the country's
crisis management organization... an
nounced the signing of a contract with
the seminary to reduce natural disasters. Until now, the amount of damage caused
by the 1979 revolution in Iran... has been more than the amount of
damage caused by an earthquake... with a magnitude of eight in Japan. I wish it was possible to sign a
contract with another organization... to reduce the unnatural
disasters caused by the seminary. The holy soil of Imam Hossein's tomb, on this blessed day, we give this gift to the
people of Khuzestan province,
God will make the
water level go down. Allahumma salli... There was only one way that piece of
dirt would have helped the people, and that is if you jumped
in the water with it. In the prayers that I read for you, it
says the reason for the earthquake is sin. there is a vein in the Earth and every
time God wants to send us a disaster... he will tell an angel to move the vein. There is a vein in the Earth and
God would tell and angel to "move it"? Move it? Oh yeah move it? "Move it", sorry the na
me of that angel
is not by any chance Arash, the singer? It has been said that even looking
at stranger women is a sin. I thought only the brain is
connected to the genitals... in the body of religious fanatics. Now I know that eyes, ears, nose,
throat, and every other organ... in their body is connected
to their genitals. You are going home and suddenly
the Earth starts to shake, I write a verse of Quran on the board, read it at the time of earthquakes, and when you did you don't need to
run or
go outside the house anymore, by reading this verse, earthquakes won't hurt
them God's willing. When an earthquake starts, even you mullahs would forget
everything you read in the seminary. At best you call upon one of
your holy saints to help you. Here is an example. Earthquakes happen to test
people, to test their patients. To test your power and will... That was just a puny aftershock. Imagine if a war starts, I swear to God that with the first bomb,
they put a white flag on their turbans, T
hey would put their hands on their knees,
bend over, and surrender to enemies. They brought me some photographs, ladies walking at the
side of this dried river. Their clothing would
dry what is left of it. Which one is it? Not wearing the
hijab causes droughts, floods, earthquakes, volcano
eruptions, or tsunamis. Oh woman, the crisis management
organization tells you that... the most beautiful way to fight against
natural disasters is to wear hijab. You might think, why European countries with a
ll that
corruption in their societies... don't have droughts? God test his believers,
like people of Isfahan. some of God's servants shot the
people of Isfahan in the eye. some of God's servants shot
people of Isfahan in the eye. Actually, they don't care if someone
is from Isfahan or anywhere else. The people of Isfahan are sad
because of the water problem. Other than people of Isfahan, people of
Tehran, people of Shiraz, People of Yazd, people of Sistan, people of Ahvaz,
people of Kerman, peop
le of Qom, and people in more than
thirty provinces are sad. Not because of water problem,
because of mullah problem. this regime is so horrible that
even the Taliban is hurt by it. The verbal conflicts between the
two regimes of the Islamic Republic... and the Taliban are
increasing every day. That was not an important
thing to mention. A little fight is like
salt in terrorists' lives. Like that old saying,
"Terrorists fight and stupid believe". I warn the authorities and
rulers of Afghanistan.
.. to give the rights of the people
of Sistan region immediately. You have not given the rights of
the people of the Sistan region... to them in forty-five years. Taliban are foreigners. In response to the words of the
President of Iran, General Mobeen Khan, the former spokesman of the
Kabul Security Command, made this joke. Mr. President of Iran,
this is our situation, don't invade us, we don't have any water, but I will bring this container myself. This was at the beginning of the year,
he won
't even give that container now. At best he will give enough
water to the president... to wash his ass after all that bullshit. Because Except for saying
bullshit he does nothing. Thirteen people were killed
and twenty-one were injured... in the terrorist attack
on Shahcheragh shrine. A terrorist shot at the
people who were praying... after entering the Shahcheragh
shrine during evening prayer. That was another example that the
region's Bullshiter did nothing. Explosion and blood in the ceremony
of the fourth anniversary... of the death of Qassem Soleimani That was another example
that shows how much... their claim for people's security is true. If you are a thief,
embezzler, or terrorist, Iran is completely safe. You can do whatever you like without fear. Pakistan attacked one of our
border villages with a missile, in which three women and
four children were killed. They are all foreigners. Well, thank God. A missile killed women and
children in a border village, and she is thanking G
od. If the missile heat the Qom's seminary, all the people of Iran would thank God. The Islamic Council put the approval of
the Hijab and Chastity bill on the agenda. This was at the end of August. A year had passed since his
granddaughter's baby clothes. And the new scandal of the parliament
chairman's son had not happened yet. Isack the Napoleon, He wanted to get a
Canadian visa as an elite, with grades like the
Napoleon, I mean all F. They will probably pass
a few new bills now, so people wil
l forget his son's scandal. This problem of women
not wearing hijab... will be solved for sure. Don't worry. Did it? Six months is passed your bullshit. Is this like destroying Israel? For forty-five years you said,
"They will not see twenty years later". And your war diminished from the storm
of Al-Aqsa to storm of walking on a flag. I want to show you a video of
people walking on the Israeli flag. The people of the world are doing it. And you try to avoid stepping on it. Are these few humans
t
he people of the world? If you want to play a friendly
football match with them... they are a few players short. Three brands support them openly. For example McDonald's. He gave McDonald's gift bags full
of sandwiches to Israeli soldiers. So what? It is not too late. You can do the same thing. Cook some Maqluba and
send it to Hamas guys. Just make sure your delivery guy is
not a family member of Majid Hosseini, He might confuse the address and
instead of Gaza go to Canada. Mr. Hosseini. Are you
having a good time in Canada? I'm here to visit my
brother and my family. That is what he said after
being seen in Canada. If he was seen in Italy, he would
say I'm here to fight Sicilian mafia. His speeches in Iran were so influential
and eradicated corruption completely. The hidden facts of Debsh Tea
Company's financial corruption... worth one hundred and forty
thousand billion Tomans. Among all the warm drinks
and joys of the world, our poor nation only had tea, and this year they made it
ta
ste bitter in people's mouth. Before that tea was served
with sugar on the side. Now they served with shit on the side. It is not known how much shit they pull
before that tea is in people's homes. An official of the Tehran
City Council said... that air pollution causes people
to die as much as the Iran-Iraq war. Now you know why no country
launch a military attack on Iran. Do you think it is because Iran's
regime has bombs and missiles? Nope. When they see that the
environmental organization...
kills more Iranians than
Saddam Hussein's army, they think why attack them? Why should we bother ourselves? They will kill themselves. Even the circus is not
disorderly like this. It reminded me, to remember this year
ceremony of February 11th. The images of women without hijab in
the ceremony of the 47th anniversary... of the victory of the 1979 revolution. have brought many reactions. It has become difficult to distinguish
the celebration of the victory... of the Islamic Revolution
from the c
arnivals of Brazil. Next year,
instead of fruit juice and cake, they will give free bikinis and tequila. A large number of people... in Iran are sensitive
to clothing issue. The people of Iran? They are sensitive to what clothing? If you mean cape and
turban, you are correct. When people see them they go mad. Fake media streams... who get paid by foreigners, like Manoto channel and other
enemies' Farsi channels, they have no other future
than the one Manoto is having. If Manoto had a bad ending,
then what should we call your
national television's ending? This year, from night news and kids' show, to a documentary about African boars
mating, Mehran Rajabi was on every show. If that ending is bad, this one is shit. That was a verse of the Quran "Something
that has no roots, will be destroyed". So that is why you are not
destroyed for a half-century. Because you have roots. You have very deep roots. But in ignorance,
stupidity, and oppression. Shervin Hajipour was sentenced
to three years
of imprisonment... and two years of being banned
from leaving the country. This is five years of imprisonment. Three years in Evin prison and
two years in a prison called Iran. Additional punishments that they gave him. Making a song against America. Writing down the books written by
Morteza Motahari and Javady Amoli, and releasing them on social media. What song he should make for you? For convicting America's crimes. For writing down this guy's book. Now that I understand,
I can see that... t
hree years of imprisonment and two years
of being banned from leaving the country, was not that bad. Even reading their books is so painful, let alone writing all that bullshit down. Singers like Moein, if they come back to Iran,
will they have permission to perform? Having permission to
perform is the next step. Their presence in the
country is not a problem, it will be handled by law. Due to Shervin's sentence for
a song without permission, if Moein with all those
songs come to Iran... he woul
d have to memorize
all your bullshit books. And if you want to torture him, you can tell him to write down
all of the president's speeches. Thingy thing, thingy things. Thingy thing, thingy things. Thingy thing, thingy things. Thingy things. Check this out. See how these poor people are living... a hard life without food and shelter. I feel so bad for them,
We have to do something. We cannot just wait. Hello sir. We are here to get budget... for the oppressed people
of the axis of resistance, in
Yemen, Gaza Strip, West Bank,
Iraq, Syria, and south of Lebanon. The treasury is empty,
where can we get money from? The sanctions broke our back. Sir, I know how to evade sanctions. Everywhere is safe and secure. I'm Mehran Rajabi. It is one after midnight I hope you are not tired brothers. Let me bring you some fresh drinks. Oh my God. They took all the money. Well done general,
you screwed him over very cleverly. My homeland is safe and secure. Sleep tight. My homeland! You constant glory! T
hingy thing, thingy things. Thingy thing, thingy things. Thingy thing, thingy things. Thingy thing, thingy things. Thingy thing, thingy things. Thingy thing, thingy things. Well, Miss.
Shadi it is time for our guest. - Awesome, what a guest.
- And tonight's special guest... is one of the influential and
artistic women of our country. From a family of artists. She did not come here empty-handed. - What does she have with herself?
- A dagger. A song called "Dagger"
which will be performed... in me
mory of all women, daughters,
and mothers of our country... whose art has been buried
under the ashes of fanaticism. By... Mojgan Shajarian. Don't stab my singing. Don't stab. I'm like the cloak of fire. I'm the last generation of the night. I carry my life... I carry my life on my back. Don't stab my singing. Don't stab. I'm your country, your sister. I'm ready to die. Around you... Around you, like your mother. Don't stab my singing. I'm a gypsy with a wandering heart. In the land of having no
body. I'm living alone in a poor neighborhood. Don't stab my singing. Don't stab. My lips has the thunder of madness. As soon as my heart
starts to sing about you, a scent of blood, a scent of blood, a scent of blood is on my lip. Don't stab my singing. Don't stab. Don't stab my singing. Don't stab my... singing. Awesome, what a performance. Very great. Please sit down. Please. - Welcome to the show.
- Thank you. - I'm so happy to be here.
- Thank you for coming. - Thank you.
- You are a dear, w
hat is the news? How was your trip? Was it good? Yes, it was great. Was it easy? Well, when it is for an important
thing, it would be more easy. Well, great. Do you travel a lot? - It depends, if I have a concert...
- For concerts and shows. yes, I travel a lot. Doesn't it affect you?
Your voice and your performance? If it does not mess up my
sleeping schedule then no. But many countries that I travel
to, because of time difference... - I usually...
- You have a sleeping problem. Yes, we have to
arrange
the time for concerts... so that there is a gap for me
to set my sleeping schedule. I think traditional
Iranian music concerts... are so serious and there
is no room for jokes, that a simple mistake in the
singer's voice, or being sleepy... Doesn't this lack of
sleep affect your voice? - One hundred percent.
- It is so interesting. - All that flying...
- Of course. When you don't have enough sleep, the first thing that will be
affected is your vocal cords. Or even if you use sleeping
pi
lls or something. Has it ever happened to
you at a concert that... Well, in a live performance,
anything could happen. - Being sleepy for example.
- No, not that. You never go on
stage sleep-deprived. No. Great, great. I'm tired of this world. I'm tired of this world. Until I solve this problem... by drinking from a fancy glass. Although, you are a musician
artist and a music lover, but you studied graphic design. We went to the same college. - On Palestine street?
- Yes. I was there too. Yes, a
t first... I really wanted to continue with
music but music did not exist. I mean, there was no major
called music in the university. So when I was going
to choose my major... I went towards painting
because I loved painting so much. With Mr. Mohsen Keramaty who... was my father's student,
and he is one of very great singers. He taught me watercolor
painting in my father's classes. I loved to paint. Interesting. Then I chose painting
as my major in college. The following year,
the music departme
nt was launched. I took the test and passed. I tried to do a double major, because... A lot of people did that back then. I wanted to continue them both,
but if the university had found out, - surely, they would have stopped me.
- Yes. One of the colleges was on one
side of the Vali-asr crossroad... - and the other on the other side.
- Yes. The other one was behind
Beethoven, the music shop Yes, that's right, behind Beethoven. So I was studying at both colleges. I had to practice singing at four
in
the morning so nobody could sleep. Which one was harder to study at
college, graphic design or music? - Do you mean painting?
- Yes, painting. Obviously,
music needs more practice and work. Especially me, because I was trying to
learn them by heart and by listening. So I started by studying painting and the
next year I started to study music too. But, because after I think... For many years... music was not a major
in Iran's universities. So the situation was very messy. A lot of students wh
o played an
instrument very professionally... Students who claimed to practice
five to six hours every night. After one or two years they
stopped playing their instrument. Because they did not have a
correct plan for teaching music. As I said music department was new and... What was your father's advice? - Due to singing being hard for women.
- Right. Although... Anyway... my father was saying that you could
continue music outside of college. But I wanted to know
what is happening in... music ma
jor which now
has its own department, and there is work being done in there. I wanted to work with different masters
and learn their different techniques. Back then, there was no singing major. There was just classic music major
and Iranian classical music major, which you had to play Radif. I entered college playing Iranian
music Radif on Setar instrument. Well, in college they blamed
everything on music major students. - For example they were saying...
- Damn it, why? For example, they were sa
ying
there is not enough space, so music students should go to... The Karaj buildings. Yes, it was under construction back then. - I remember.
- There was nothing. I remember. When we went there workers were
laying bricks, and nothing was there. My uncle is a hunter,
he came to visit me there, he was saying oh dear nephew
at night wolves would be here. You could hunt everything there, as far
as the eye could see it was just desert. From the beginning of its
department in the university, they tri
ed so hard to
push art away and away. That is right. They sent that Azad university to
Imam Hosein Square after that... Yes, exactly. They never wanted music
close to other majors. That is right. They first suggested that
photography students go there, Mr. Fakhreddini said I will never go
there, I will leave the university. They said, no, you stay
here, music students will go. Music students said they would not go
because it would kill their creativity. They said OK,
then your department would b
e dissolved. - It is easy for us.
- Really? We said OK, we will go. Being dissolved was a possibility
from the first day of college. For example, one day we went to
college and they told us to go back home. Why? They said music is forbidden. - Damn it.
- The major is gone. God damn it. We went home and we were depressed after a week they called
and told us to go to college. What happened? A boy played accordion for me
and I decided music is allowed. God save that boy. Because he played accordion
, studying
music in all universities was allowed. What is the meaning of this? The philosophy of not having a
department in the university. Based on that they cannot
invite great masters. Of course, there was great
masters teaching there too. I respect them all. It did not have a comprehensive plan. Dr. Pejhman came there
to teach us to compose. In the fourth year, he was asking why
there is no piano in this college. Finally, in the fourth
year they brought a piano. They brought a master to teac
h the
piano, I mean they just... It is interesting that you
did not get disappointed. I mean you went
through it to the end anyway. Anyway. Because you could have gone home and
practiced with the greatest masters. Even better than the college
that does not have a piano. And you went through it to the end. How important was that degree to you? It was not just for the degree. You see when you enter the college... the connection that you find
with your community is important. Hundred percent. Maybe
I cannot make that
connection at home with anyone. Maybe I could not feel the
shortages that our music had at that time. The question of, how the values of
music are being defined in our society. Right. An interesting thing
for me to tell you... is that when they wanted to
take a practical test from us, they announced that students should be
able to play Radif on their instruments. It means that they should have
known Radifs before the test. Then the day that masters sat down so
that students
come and take the test... They saw so many students and
there was such a big crowd that it would take
months to test them all. They said we are surprised that these
young musicians know how to play Radif... considering that music was
so limited before this. All those kids wanted to
learn music and they did... and now they want to
study it in college. That was interesting to me. Very interesting, Specially for something
that they tried to stop for so long. Let's go to the control room and we wil
l
be back with the rest of the interview. Awesome. We are with dear Mojgan Shajarian. Dear Mojgan let me ask you
a more personal question. Yes. In home I know that... Which child you are? The third child. The third, how many siblings are you? We are five children. - Five.
- Yes. You are five children so
you are the middle one, right? Yes, yes. You have two older sisters
and two younger brothers. Yes, yes. And are you the only daughter
of the family who sings? My sisters also sang, I mean... they
learned and
practiced with my father. It is inevitable in that home. When you are born in that home
you will leave it as an artist, - Yes.
- there is no other way. They don't raise doctors for society. Yes. My sisters sang and
played instruments too. My brother too, you know about Homayoun. - He sing a little.
- A little. Really? Does Homayoun sing too? Yes, but... maybe I had more courage among them. I don't know. Among girls?
Did you ever had the problem of... Because Homayoun as the younger
brother was singing with your father. Of course I know... your father started a
band to sing with you... and you were singing
and playing in concerts. Apart from that, at home... Right. Your brother was singing
without any problem. right. But you even had problems in university. What was your motive? - Were there any fight?
- You knew it was hard. Did you ever have any discussion? No, never. Have you never fought? Yes,
we fought over other things. - You never fought over music.
- No. When we had
classes with our
father, Homayoun was so young. He was a kid. I and my older sisters with Homayoun
, and Rayan was not born yet. I think it was Mondays, every Monday
we had a family round table... and Father practiced Radifs
with us very strictly. Well, in between classes,
Father's concerts were held or... Did your father... practiced with your older sisters,
although they never going to sing? Yes, yes, because nobody knew what
was going to happen in future. But they liked to... As I said it wa
s... the year... I was nine years old for example. We all used to go to Chavosh
center and practice instruments. My older sister and I was playing Setar. Afsaneh was learning Santoor from
Mr. Meshkatian and they later got married. Homayoun was learning
Tonbak from Mr. Farhangfar... and later he went to Mr. Mohebi. We were all playing instruments
and going to our singing classes. Then my older sister, Afsaneh,
got married so classes... were happening one day and
being canceled the other day... an
d my father had concerts. These classes were constantly
canceled and held again. Anyway, my sisters practiced music
too, but maybe... the fact that... society did not have the passion
for hearing a woman's voice. Do you think society does not have the
passion to listen to women's voices? No, the society... - It was not allowed.
- You mean the officials. - Those you made the decisions.
- Yes, they did not allow... - anyone to work.
- Have you never been disappointed? No, I like to do this a very
much but... Because I could not sing, I tried to... - focus on playing instrument.
- Focus. There was a while when they asked me
to perform concerts only for women, and I said no way. - You mean only female audiences.
- Yes, yes. I said, if I accept to do
this, it means that... I have accepted the wrong
laws of this society. I would never do that. This means disrespect to women's
character, and I never did it. Oh, my traveler. The one that is gone from my side. Your presence is healing... for my
helpless heart. Come back, I'm helpless. Come back... Later when we performed concerts
with my father outside of Iran, I tried to be like a backup vocalist. For the parts that I was singing solo... I fell in trouble for that
when I got back to Iran. How was that? How was the first time... - You were with Shahnaz band, right?
- Yes. It was Shahnaz band, you were playing
and singing with your father. - When you performed the first concert...
- Yes, yes. after that what happened?
You sang with the
great master... on the stage of a concert outside of Iran. After the concert, because my father
came back to Iran, nothing happened. Because as I said they were
so scared of my father. Then in 2011, when father... was in Europe and he did
not went back to Iran... because his concerts
were starting in 2012. My husband and I were doing most
of the backstage work for concerts. It was mostly on my husband's shoulders
and I was doing the financial work. My husband said,
go talk to the father about n
ext concert, and also visit him, because I
had not seen him for a long time. I went to see my father in Spain
and we were together in Germany too. Upon my return to Iran, I landed at the airport and some guy
was yelling who is Mr. Shajarian? - Who is Mr. Shajarian?
- Who is Mr. Shajarian? What does that mean? Think of that idiot. He was asking who is Mr. Shajarian? At first, I thought, it had nothing to
do with me. What should I say to him? Then I saw he was trying so hard. I said, Mr. Shajarian
is not here, but I'm Mrs. Shajarian if
you have something to say. He said, yes, I'm looking for you. - I got it now. Oh my God.
- Later my father's lawyer said... - Why did you give yourself up?
- You went to him and said, I'm here. Mr. Shajarian is not here,
you can arrest me instead. - Arrest me instead.
- Yes. They took me to a room, they asked for
my passport, and I gave it to them. They said, The Ministry of Intelligence... will call you later and
you can go there and get it - So easy.
- Y
es. I asked, that is it? He said, yes, go home,
they will call you later. I came home and a while passed. I told my father that
they seized my passport... and said The Ministry of Intelligence. My father said you will not
go there without your lawyer... because I know these people, arrange with Mr. Aghasi to
accompany you that day, I said OK. I was at home, the phone ranged,
I picked up and it the guy said... we are calling from The Ministry of
Intelligence, are you Mojgan? I said yes. You must
come to this
address on this day and hour. I said let me see if my lawyer
has the time on that date. He said are you making fun of us?
Are we friends enough to joke? I said you must be there
at that day and hour. - It seems that we are a joke to you.
- The lawyer. - I talk in the presence of my lawyer.
- OK, I'll try my best to be there. I said I'll do my best sir,
Goodbye, and I hung up the phone. When we went there, my lawyer stayed
at the bottom of the stairs... and my husband and I went insi
de... the place they had. The first thing he asked
was where is your lawyer? I said he is down stairs I
can call him if you want. He said were you scared
that we take you away? I said you people do anything. Did you really say that? Well done. He said alright sit
down we need to talk. In short, they were asking, why doesn't
Mr. Shajarian come back to Iran? I said, well he did not
want to come back to Iran. Because his concerts will
start in a few months. And he can travel within
Europe more easi
ly. Then he said to my husband, as his manager why would you
let Mr. Shajarian interview? My husband said should Mr. Shajarian
ask for my permission? He is a great artist
himself and decided to that. If he interviews again,
we would see it as you are doing. What? - I thought maybe he was stupid...
- He was trying to create a spy. It is kind of creating a
spy in that person's family. I said look sir,
my father is from Mashhad. People from Mashhad are very stubborn. Do you want me to tell him that
he should not interview anymore... and he would do more interviews? - Of course the guy was really...
- Easy on you? easy on me,
and he was talking reasonably. - He was a reasonable one.
- Yes, and then... he said why do you sing? I said should I ask for your permission? I want to go and sing, this is a
legacy that has been passed on to me. - It is a talent.
- It is a talent. He said no. You should not sing because it
is the law of our country... that women are not allowed to sing. I said you s
hould respect your law. And for me, I don't sing in Iran. I go outside of the country and sing. No, it does not work that way. You shall not sing ever. I said why? What would happen? You should know that it is not a law
in Islam that women shall not sing, we have this law based on
the expediency of our regime. I said sorry but I won't
let go of my heritage... for the expediency of your regime. Whatever happens, happens. He said if you sing one more time
I will not talk so softly to you, the cons
equences are all yours. - He threatened you.
- Exactly, he threatened me. Like a bird, you flew, oh my friend why did you go? oh my friend why did you go? Like a bird, you flew, oh my friend why did you go? oh my friend why did you go? oh my friend why did you go? You have three children. - Twin boys and a girl.
- Yes, three, twins and a girl. Any of them do music? They all do some music, not Iranian
classical music, but they do music. - They do music.
- Yes. - Are they talented too?
- Yes, they
are very talented. Are you saying this
because you are their mom? - Or are they talented?
- Because their uncle is Homayoun. OK, because of him,
then they are talented. - And because of their grandfather.
- All of the reasons... I... I'm not talented myself. You are one of the best singers for us. You are a dear. We go to the control room
again and we will be back. Well... another interesting thing for me... Because you said that after
2012 you never went back to Iran, - Yes.
- Because of your
situation. Your children came after that, right? Yes, my children came
with a lot of hardship. The way I thought... they should have come to
Germany, and there we... Because if they were finding out
that I was going to become a refugee... they would have banned my
children from leaving Iran. Right. As well as I heard that many
of the people who came here... were not able to bring their children. We were worried every day
when will their visas come. And finally, after eight months they
got their
visa and they came here. - OK so...
- Yes. you passed that with
a lot of hardships. When your father died... It was during COVID if
I remember correctly. Yes, right. Did you go back to Iran? Yes, I got back a few weeks or
a month before my father died. I heard that he was very sick. And I wanted to put aside the warm
farewell that I had with him... at the airport and go back to see him. Everyone said it is
dangerous if you came back. I said whatever happens is worth it
for me, to see my father o
ne more time. And so I went back to Iran and
as usual they took my passport, to set another meeting with me. After a few days of meetings, one of our friends said
don't go there dear... because you cannot
defend yourself for sure. - And he...
- During all this... taking your passport, meetings,
your father was still alive? Yes, he was alive. They had a meeting,
fourteen to fifteen men, to destroy us. And it took three or four hours and... a revolutionary guard was insisting
and saying that she m
ust be put on trial, I'm not letting her go. - Trial? - Put on trial.
- He exactly said that, trial. Others told him what trial?
Do you understand that master is sick... and if something happens to him
what would you answer to people? And... And this will aggravate all the issues. They were so scared of my father's death. They were scared that
people might protest. And COVID helped them
very much in that matter. - It saved them.
- Yes, COVID saved them. I should say that the
day my father died,
They had a security camera
to record every moment. They sat a security camera outside
the hospital to record every moment. It means that they installed
that the night before. They installed a camera to see who
comes to the hospital and what they do. Exactly. They were beating people. Until midnight they did beat those people
who came out of respect to my father. Other issues happened after that. It was not clear if they wanted to
allow us to bury father in Mashhad. As well as you saw... Right. w
hen they brought his body to Mashhad, and they wanted to do a military march, they didn't allow it and
they took the father's body. - So disrespectful and...
- Under control. under control. In... graveyard when people
wanted to say goodbye, it was people's right to participate and
say goodbye, but they didn't allow it. And army, anti-riot forces, police, and armed forces were
everywhere to beat the people, and prevent people from mourning. With a lot of problems, it happened. And we did the fune
ral. And it really was not clear until the last
minute... if they allow the funeral to happen. Because a lot of them
were against funeral. They were so scared of your father. Well done to Homayoun
for being able to... bury father in the place he deserved
by fighting all those problems. The cruelty of the oppressor, and the harassment of the hunter, destroyed my home. Although the hearts are bleeding, the happiness is more glorious. The moon's white face is red, oh it is red. My only wish is that
you will always be... healthy, intact, full of love, as my father wished for you, and victorious. Thank you. To change the mood. You said that after your father's death, thousands of people claimed
they were his student. They came to your father's
classes and parties. They had a lot of fun in
the garden of Hashtgerd. Was that true? - To be honest...
- Or... Why didn't you invite us? How come? His close friends never made such claims. People who were very close to my father, and loved him with a
ll their
hearts, never made such claims. So those who make those
claims should have evidence That was not true. That was one thing. Some new students are
popping up everywhere... and I have never heard about them. They are Shajarian's students. I decided to release my
father's students list. Please do that. - Because it cannot go on...
- If you release your guests list too... the list of people who came to your home.
That would be great too. And beyond that... a few political parties are
claimin
g that he was a member of us. What the hell is this? I have never seen anyone more
free-thinking than my father. Who is not with any party. Not the left, not the right. Not a Mojahed. None of them, he was just... He was popular. - A popular artist.
- Popular. If he said anything it was
just for the good of people. To be people's voice. And he paid a heavy price for that. He was not allowed to work
in Iran for many years. They didn't even allowed
his works to be sold. They didn't allow his
music
to be released. There are thousands of
songs by my father... that has not been
released yet because... Thousands of songs? You don't believe,
for a year and a half... What a treasure. For a year and a half
one of our friends... was converting them into... - Digital versions.
- digital versions. And based on this I want to
say with loud voice that... you cannot connect my
father to any religious, any political party, or anything. I testify to this. Even some of... his students said that he said..
. I don't know... "Mr. Shajarian said during his sickness... we don't have a problem with mullahs". He would never... - His interviews are here.
- Why? Why won't you show an audio proof? Why no video proof? Haven't cameras and sound
recorders been invented? Why are you saying such
a thing in a newspaper? There is no doubt... that they have no mercy, and they would... abuse anything. Yes. Let alone Master Shajarian. They would do anything... They tried their best to
tarnish the reputation of anyo
ne whose loved by the people. You see,
an honorable job that I have found. - Honorable job.
- Or any other artists, or those who... doing some kind of art or
have voice for protest, we created jobs for these assholes. Exactly, yes, exactly. - She created jobs for them.
- They are... getting paid to... - To curse at you.
- to curse. Now that you mentioned
cursing and swearing. At the ceremony of awarding the Nobel
Prize to dear Narges Mohammadi... - you did a great performance.
- Thank you. First
you did an official performance, and then you did another
with Golshifteh and others. The reason we did that... we are all hurt by the
laws of that regime, Although we know singing will get
us into trouble, we still sing. Although dancing in the street
is not allowed we dance. Although we know if we don't wear hijab... we might get hurt
or go to prison, we don't wear it. All these happened in Woman,
Life, Freedom Movement. Right. And prove them... it is right that our men and women
are in bad s
ituations in prison, but for protesting
the regime's protocols, and for protesting the law of that prison, they sing and dance
but they are not happy. - Maybe there is a lot...
- Their actions are purposeful. - of pain in that person's heart.
- Right. But he or she cannot talk about it. But they dance to fight that prison guard. To tell him that I'm happy, and I'm
dancing, because you wanted me to cry. Our goal was to prove to them... that an Iranian woman is not a
woman who only cries in her ki
tchen An Iranian woman is not just tears,
cooking, and raising a child. Iranian women are the ones who fight too. The cruelty of the oppressor, and the harassment of the hunter, destroyed my home. Oh God, oh universe, oh nature, end our dark night with the sunrise. They said to me, why
did you go and sing in that event? But I wanted to tell them from here... It is a big thing that an Iranian woman... not just a woman,
because we won this award twice, The first time Mrs. Ebadi and now Mrs.
Mohamm
adi received this award. This was not for one person... this was for all the Iranian women who
respected human rights, women's freedom, and their movement, and they moved. right. And the thing that I
always want to say is that... we should not be disappointed that
in this movement many things... did not give the result we wanted. The only thing... that we have to consider is... having one direction and one heart. - If this happens, hope will...
- We should be united. - We should be one.
- come.
To make the devil fall from the throne. For the tears of mothers. For girls hair. For lovers who has no graves. For the tall green cedar in the sky. What are your future plans,
concerts, and projects? Currently, I do protesting music more. There are three or four more
songs that I have to record. I am not planning to hold
a concert at the moment. Maybe next year I perform
some concerts about Shahnameh, and how we should appreciate
Ferdowsi, in the Netherlands. It is going to start from there. -
I try to work more on social poems.
- How great. I myself try to teach
online through the Internet. I had online classes through internet. Everyone were saying it is not possible
to teach a class with internet. - Now everyone know that it is possible.
- Now they know it is possible. Mostly, I have my online classes. Unfortunately, I cannot teach Iranian
students because of the time difference. And also their slow internet connection. But I work with those
who have the passion. I teach singing an
d
playing instrument. I spent most of my time with these... and I love to have some time
to finish my researches, and sing Iranian music Radifs. I hope that they all happen
and we will enjoy them. We thank dear Mojgan
for coming to the show. Thank you so much,
you are a dear, thank you. "Any day of the week with Sina" What chaos has been created
in my heart and soul all the time. Oh homeland. The home of the bird... of my heart is being burned by sadness. Oh homeland. Although the birds of the m
orning cried... in this house, in this house. It is still silent and quiet, in this house, oh homeland. Oh homeland. The string of my heart was cut, and the instrument of the
heart ripped from the devil, oh friend. The string of my heart was cut, The string of my heart was cut, and the instrument of the
heart ripped from the devil, oh friend. Nobody heard nothing from my heart... Nobody heard nothing from my heart... except my cry oh homeland. It seems that the sun is not
shining from your roof
anymore. The owl is singing the sing of the night, oh homeland. Give birth with your soul... to brave heroes. So that they be the
medicine for your wounds. Oh homeland. We have lost our way and... we are tired and disabled. Open your warm hug to me... oh homeland. - Oh my God.
- Awesome. - Awesome.
- Very beautiful. - Thank you.
- Very great. Thank you dear Mojgan. And thank you all, dear friends. This is our last episode in... the year 1402 of the solar calendar. We will be on vacation for two
