Welcome, everybody! Today we are learning
English phrases from The Purge Anarchy. Let's do this! Why would you learn English from some
suit-and-tie professor when you could learn it from... an angry cop, a stressed out mom,
and the sweetest teenagers in Los Angeles? Open up that notepad app
and get ready to learn English from... Our story begins with Eva. She's a mother
and tonight is a special night. For one night each year all crime in America is legal. It's called... The Purge. On this n
ight people fill the streets
committing all kinds of crimes. Eva and her daughter Cali have chosen
to stay indoors and try to survive the night. The girls also live with Eva's father.
A severe illness is slowly destroying him but the family can barely afford his medication.
While Eva and Cali are distracted, Eva's dad sneaks out of the house, where a limousine is
waiting for him. Elsewhere in the city, a married couple is traveling across the country. Shane
and his wife Liz are quickly try
ing to do some last-minute shopping before The Purge begins.
But some teenagers try to intimidate them with their super scary Annabelle masks. Shane and Liz leave but their car starts to misbehave. Liz says... 🔥 "Can you pull over?" 🔥 "To pull over" means to stop your car
on the side of the road. 🔥 "Can you pull over?" 🔥 The car breaks down and the couple start to freak out. Being stuck out on the streets
on this night is a death sentence. In the distance they see the teenagers
from earl
ier following them. They wave hello but Shane and Liz are so rude
that they don't even wave back. Pff. They deserve to die. The clock strikes seven and all the TVs
in the country display a message warning everybody that The Purge is beginning. Shane and Liz run the streets looking for safety
but never find it. Eva and Cali are at home, but Cali discovers that her Grandpa
is gone. She finds a note from him stating that he has made a deal with somebody a family
will delete him on Purge Night
and in exchange they will give
Eva and Cali a hundred thousand dollars. Before Eva and Cali have a chance to grieve
men with boom-boom sticks bust into the apartment. Eva and Cali try to hide but the men
find them and drag them outside. They see an 18-wheeler waiting for them. While outside
a man in an armored car sees Eva and Cali. He has no idea who they are but
he feels obligated to help. He rushes over and starts shooting all the men in uniform. Meanwhile
Shane and Liz arrive and and h
ide in the man's car. They have no idea who the car belongs to and are
just looking for cover the man is still fighting to save Eva and Cali. He shoots a guy wearing an apron. What the hell is he cooking in there? All the men are dead, and the man allows Eva and
Cali to come with him. He goes back to his car and finds Shane and Liz inside. He almost deletes them
but they show him that they mean no harm. They all get in the car but the Apron Man is still alive.
He starts shooting at the car a
s it leaves. The car is able to get away safely.
The man asks Shane and Liz a question. 🔥 "Are you armed?" 🔥 "To be armed" means to have a weapon,
any kind of weapon on you. The man wants to be sure that Shane
and Liz don't have any weapons. 🔥 "Are you armed?" 🔥 Shane and Liz are not armed and tell the man their story. The movie never tells us the man's name but he did work for Hydra fighting against
Captain America, so we'll call him Crossbones. "Hail Hydra!" Cali asks Crossbones why he
's out
tonight but he doesn't answer. The main characters haven't had it hard
enough, so the writers of this movie decided that their car should break down... again. With no way to
repair the car Crossbones decides to leave Eva and everybody else alone, and go his own way. But Eva
convinces him to stay. She has a friend that's a total BBW, and she has a car that they can borrow.
If Crossbones helps them get to their friend's house, she'll let him take the car. Crossbones accepts
the deal a
nd they all leave together. On the way they come across an 18-wheeler. The same
18-wheeler that was used to kidnap Eva and Cali. But all the men are dead. They investigate the
18-wheeler and notice that the men had access to the city cameras. The only people
that would have access to those cameras... are the government. "I hate the government." The gang arrives at the BBW's house
and are safe at last. They all meet Roddy and Lorraine, a husband and wife with some small
marital problems, but
they're still madly in love. Lorraine mentions that Roddy thought about going
outside during The Purge. Roddy says... 🔥 "I chickened out." 🔥 "To chicken out" means to say that you are going to do
something, but then you don't do it because you're afraid. Roddy is saying that he did not go out
during The Purge because he was too afraid. "He chickened out," 🔥 "I chickened out." 🔥 Lorraine then makes a joke about her husband,
but with lots of love. She says... 🔥 "He would have been the la
ughingstock
of the neighborhood." 🔥 A "laughingstock" is someone that people laugh at. It's someone that they don't respect and they do
not take seriously. Lorraine is saying that if her husband,
Roddy, had gone out during The Purge, no one would have taken him seriously
and they just would have laughed at him. 🔥 "He would have been the laughingstock
of the neighborhood." 🔥 Everybody in the room can feel the love
coming from Roddy and Lorraine. Crossbones talks to Eva and asks her for t
he car. Eva admits that she lied to him. There is
no car. She just wanted her daughter to be safe. Crossbones is livid. Tonight is an important night
for him. His son died some time ago and Crossbones is out on Purge night to get revenge.
Out of nowhere Lorraine pulls out a boom-boom stick and starts blasting. She deletes her sister and goes
after her husband. Crossbones and the gang leave but outside the building is Apron Man and his
soldiers. The gang finds another way out but are capture
d by the teenagers from earlier.
They throw them in a van and take off. For some reason they've decided not to delete Crossbones
and the gang. The van arrives at a location. Men in suits give the teenagers money and force
Crossbones and the crew to go inside a building. They find themselves on a stage
with a large audience watching them. An announcer states that they will be playing game. Crossbones and the crew are moved into a
giant room where they immediately try to hide. A group of hunt
ers get together and start looking
for our heroes. Since everybody in the group is... absolutely useless, Crossbones has to fight the
hunters all by himself. He takes them all on in the dark while the audience continues to watch.
Crossbones gives Liz a boom-boom stick and says... 🔥 "Light 'em up." 🔥 "To light someone up" means to shoot them
with a boom-boom stick. Yeah? I can't say the word because of YouTube rules. Damn. 🔥 "Light 'em up." 🔥 While everybody has their guard down, one of t
he hunters blasts Shane
and ends him for good. At that moment... Agents from Hydra bust into the building. They start fighting back against the hunters.
Crossbones is happy to see his old buddies. They took a break from fighting Captain America
and the Avengers to come save Crossbones. He, Eva, and Cali escape but Liz decides to stay
behind and fight with Hydra against the hunters. Crossbones and the girls steal a car and arrive
at a suburban neighborhood. The sun's already up and there are
only minutes left in the Purge. Crossbones explains to the girls that this house
belongs to the man that deleted his son. The man was driving drunk and ran over
the little boy. Crossbones says... 🔥 "And he swerved off the road." 🔥 "To swerve off the road" means
to turn your car off the road. Crossbones is saying that the man
turned his car off the road and hit his son while he was walking on the sidewalk. 🔥 "And he swerved off the road." 🔥 because of an error in the courts the man
that
deleted Crossbones' son never went to prison. Eva and Cali try to convince Crossbones
not to do what he's thinking. But Crossbones doesn't care about morality now. His son will be avenged. Crossbones enters the
house and wakes the man up. He sends him to his knees and forces him to admit what he did. The man
gives his last words and Crossbones gets revenge. He walks outside feeling good and gets lit up!
But who would do this? Apron Man! He's pissed that Crossbones scarred his pretty face. A
pron Man admits that he and his soldiers
work for the government. The planet is overpopulated and they
need to lower the population by deleting people during the Purge. Apron Man is about to delete
Crossbones for good when a slug blast his brains out. Crossbones never deleted the man that deleted
his son. Because of this the man saved his life. The girls come to help Crossbones
and take himto the hospital. The Purge ends and our heroes
survive another year in hell. And that's it!
