People think that One Piece is a show about Pirates or Devil Fruits … But in reality, One Piece is about dreams. Literally every important person in this show talks about it non-stop: Roger, Blackbeard, Big Mom, even Vegapunk tells us that Devil Fruits themselves are somehow made from dreams. Even Luffy’s idea of defeating his opponents revolves around crushing their dreams, not killing them! And most importantly, without a dream, you can’t become a straw hat. That’s Because each of the straw ha
ts has a dream they openly state. And not just that, most of them even have a secret dream too! So let’s get into it. There’s no better place to start than with the BRUTAL vice captain, Roronoa Zoro. And that’s because out of every strawhat- Zoro’s dreams are about as clear cut as it gets. And that’s right, Zoro is one of the crew members who actually has two dreams/goals he needs to accomplish. And one may just be a bit more devilish than the other. So let’s cover the obvious one first. Zoro ha
s proclaimed time and time again that he WILL be the Strongest Swordsman in the world. This all stems from a promise he made to his rival and best friend, Kuina. Kuina was another swordsman in Shimotsuki village, Zoro’s hometown. And you see, she was vastly superior to Zoro as a swordsman all the way up until her tragic death at the hands of Down D. Stairs. Okay yeah, maybe not the best taste in jokes, but come on. Falling down the stairs really is the worst way to go. Maybe she pushed? Who know
s. Regardless, Kuina was objectively better than Zoro. However she believed that she could never be the strongest, because with time, Zoro would become faster, stronger and greater. Her father instill the belief that because she was a woman, it would be impossible to achieve her goal. Well, Zoro wasn’t having any of that. And after their 201st duel, which resulted in Zoro’s 201st defeat, they made a promise to each other. One of them would go on to become the Strongest Swordsman in the world. Wh
ich Kuina promptly forfeited in her battle with the staircase. And as a result of her death, Zoro’s dream kicked into overdrive. Proclaiming that he would become so INCREDIBLY powerful, that Kuina would be able hear his name from heaven. It’s a dream that Dracule Mihawk pushed even further too. Because after their battle, Zoro realized just how far he was from the pinnacle of power. Now you probably know Zoro’s dream, it’s pretty obvious. So why did I mention he has two? Well his secondary dream
is a DIRECT result of his first dream. It feeds into him becoming the strongest swordsman. And that’s because during his battle with King on Onigashima, we learn that Zoro’s resolve is far beyond what we thought. At the end of their clash, we see Zoro triple down on the promise he made to Luffy. Zoro WILL not lose. With a FEARSOME roar, he declared to the heavens that he would become the King of Hell. Afterall, if death is defeat, then he cannot afford to have that happen. Not At least not unti
l his true dream of becoming the Strongest Swordsman is realized. To prove to himself, his captain, and his best friend, Zoro needs to break through to heaven. And only then can he sit back, relax, and drink. He’s gunning for that Dark King Rayleigh life. But don’t worry, Zoro is actually pretty close to accomplishing this brutal goal. He’s taken down so many swordsman, that there’s only a small handful of foes left for him to defeat. Shiryu, V. Nusjuro, and potential St. Figarland Garling are t
he only real swordsman besides Mihawk left for him to beat. I mean, he also defeated the clone of Mihawk, S-Snake. It’s safe to say he’s well on his way to being a pokemon master- I mean the world’s strongest swordsman. Alright, with moss heads dreams out of the way, let’s talk about the next straw hat. The lovely and beautiful navigator, Nami. Nami’s dreams are also straightforward. But don’t worry, we’re going to get to some CRAZY unclear ones later down the line. For now, Back to Nami. She’s
made it very clear through Arlong Park that her dream is to create a full map of the world. An incredible and truly awe inspiring goal. She wants to explore the globe, and be the greatest map maker there ever is. Which sounds simple- until you realize IT'S ABSOLUTELY INSANE. I mean, to do this she’s going to have to find Laugh Tale, the hidden island that holds the one piece, and a bunch of other secret islands and locations. Is she nuts? Well, quite frankly, no. Because lucky for her, she’s wel
l on her way to doing that! I mean she’s been to gorgeous sky islands, below the redline to the inspirational fishman island, and is actively navigating the dangerous Grand Line. She’s well on her way to accomplishing this dream- but as I mentioned previously… I think Nami has a secondary dream. One that lies a bit below the surface. And that’s because when you think back to Nami’s introduction as a cat burglar and greedy fiend of a person, we really start to understand her true morals. We know
that initially it all seemed to stem from trying to earn her and her hometowns freedom from Arlong and his crew. But this doesn’t ever seem to stop. She’s always about that filthy and sweet cash money. *Manu rubs his fingers together or pretends to fan dollar bills like he’s at the club* Okay, but not for those reasons. She’s not like that. Nami does it because she was raised to truly understand the liberating freedom money provides. Nami gives all of the signs of a poor child who’s dream to hav
e money and stability drives her every move. It makes a lot of sense too. To help her realize Luffy and her crew's individual dreams, their cash flow is beyond important. She’s still got a ways to go. I mean we haven’t seen the crew go to half of the oceans yet, and to map the WHOLE planet- well Nami’s got a few years left at the very least. I just feel bad she has to take care of the whole crew that whole time. She really does have the whole “single mom trying to provide for her kids” vibe goin
g on. Good on you Nami. What a noble cause. Unlike her captain’s dream. Yeah that’s right, just wait until I tell you about Luffy’s dreams- they are far from noble, and are absolutely shocking to hear. But speaking of lacking nobility, someone with A FAR MORE SELFISH dream is the sniper extraordinaire, God Usopp. His dream really takes some DIFFICULT interpretation to realize. And that’s because his dream is WAY to open ended. We find out through the infamous barrel scene, where the original cre
w all pronounce their dreams, that Usopp wants to be a brave warrior of the sea. Which sounds noble, but it’s definitely rooted in his insecurities and fears. But uh… what exactly does that mean? I mean he clearly doesn’t think he’s accomplished that goal yet. And he’s slayed Dinosaurs, liberated countries, and I guess fought a mole person…? And what’s more mind boggling is that he’s befriended all of the giants. I mean- that all sounds like a brave warrior of the sea to me! Well, it’s commonly
theorized that to realize his dreams, Usopp will have to believe the lies he tells. Or at least, realize them all to completion. And it may just be on Elbaf that this dream fully gets realized. If Usopp can go on to lead the giants in the war on the world government, I think that in his own eyes, he’ll see himself as a brave warrior of the sea. Because that’s really the whole point of his dream. It doesn’t matter what others think, Usopp needs to believe it himself. Honestly, you’re so real for
that Usopp. It can be really difficult to believe in yourself in the ways others believe in you. But rest assured, I am confident you’ll become a brave warrior in your own eyes someday. Now that we’ve covered the sniper supreme, it’s time to talk about the straw hat chef. It’s time for Sanji’s dreams. You better buckle up. Because Sanji has, in my opinion, the most crazy and difficult dream out there. What do I mean by that? Well ever since he was a young, Sanji has dreamed of finding the legend
ary All Blue. A location where the four seas, North, South, East and West blues, meet together. Creating a magical place where all fish swim together, and all plants grow. Making it the ultimate spot for a chef on the high seas. Afterall, you’d have every ingredient in one convenient place! The absolutely insane thing about Sanji’s dream though? Is that it is a dream that LITERALLY saved his life. Because when the pirate Red Leg Zeff found a young Sanji, Zeff only decided to save him from their
shipwreck after he learned that was Sanji’s dream. Because it actually was a dream he had also chased during his days as a pirate. And you see, Zeff really is the reason Sanji has to do this. He owes it to his mentor, and himself to see it through. Once he finds the all blue, he’ll be able to do his best feeding everyone. A cause he’s had since he was a young kid, that Zeff has reinforced. The all blue is his secret to saving the world through food. But unfortunately it’s IMPOSSIBLE to find. It’
s even harder to find than laugh tale! And that’s because there isn’t a map to find it. That’s right, unlike the one piece, which has the Poneglyphs, these giant ancient stone rocks that are a map to the island, the all blue is truly a mystery. However the fanbase has an amazing theory about Sanji finding the all blue. And that’s completely destroying the Redline. Because all of the oceans would then be combined. Literally creating the mystical all blue. Which definitely goes to support the theo
ries that the redline is unnatural. IF it’s not supposed to be there, then the legends of the All blue would simply lost to ancient history. Let’s hope that’s the case because honestly- Sanji isn’t anywhere close to finding the all blue at this rate. He still has no leads, except maybe one. What if maybe Laugh Tale IS IN the all blue. That would be pretty convenient. A two for one special on dreams. But we don’t have time for theories! There’s 8 more dreams to cover! And I’m sure some of you jus
t reeled back in confusion. “Manu, there’s not that many straw hats left? How could you have 8 more dreams to cover?” Well that’s because there are three characters I count as straw hats that have dreams to discuss. So let’s take a quick break and talk about them. Momonosuke, Yamato, and Nefertari Vivi are three honorary straw hats with dreams we know exist. Momo and Yamato go hand in hand. Momonosukes dream is to become a fierce shogun of Wano-Kuni, much like his father, Kozuki Oden. Which we k
now has already been achieved. Well, at least the Shogun part. He’s still got some work to do on the ferocity side of things. But he’s working towards it! Being willing to challenge a marine admiral is the most “I am him” level of flexes. One that’s sure to set a precedent for his growth. And speaking of Kozuki Oden, Yamato’s dream is to live life like the legendary shogun! Which all but confirms that one day, they will sail alongside the strawhats. Much like Oden did with the whitebeard and rog
er pirates. Until then though, they have to journey to the sacred land of Wano like Oden did. Now finally, we have to address Vivi, a true straw hat whose dream has already been realized- Which is why she’s no longer with the crew. Vivi’s dream was to save her country, Alabasta from the evil clutches of the big bad crocodile… Crocodile. But once Luffy and the strawhats absolutely messed that poor man up, Vivi’s dream was done. Alabasta was safe. Which makes her the first fully accomplished dream
er among the crew. But during her time on the crew, we met the loveable doctor, Tony Tony Chopper. And this little reindeer has such a noble and wholesome goal. He’s so precious. He just wants to cure any and all the diseases. All of them. What an absolute legend. Without question one of the most noble dreams of any of the crew. There’s just one issue… it's INCONCEIVABLE. Where did he even get this idea? Well, a big part of that was his mentorship from the goofy doctor Hiriluk and the ever myste
rious doctor Kureha. Without their guidance when he became a reindeer human, Chopper would never have taken up this cause. And it’s actually Hiriluks death that truly pushed Chopper into the path of the ultimate doctor. The reason being, Chopper in his *youthful ignorance,* accidentally poisoned Hiriluk, and promised through Kureha’s teachings to never make that mistake again. And thus crafting his dream to become the one piece world’s greatest doctor. And once he does this, he’ll finally pay th
e life debt he owes to Doctor Hiriluk, and that’s the really important part. But until he does it, I really don’t know how close Chopper is. But he’s definitely solved some crazy diseases so far- which means he’s definitely got the chops to do it. We are about halfway through now, and these dreams are getting wilder and wilder. And I bet that right about now, you think you know Luffy’s big dream reveal already. But I assure you, it’s not what you think it is. I swear Luffy’s dream is going to sh
ake the world. And speaking of world shaking dreams, we just have to talk about the archaeologist and absolute heart throb of the one piece world, Nico Robin. And arguably, she may have the most blatantly selfish goal out of anyone. You see, Nico Robin was a citizen of Ohara, which made her a natural born scholar. And after learning under professor Clover, and dreaming to follow her mother Nico Olivia’s footsteps- Robin yearned to uncover the true history of the world. However the one piece worl
d follows a simple philosophy. And that Knowledge is a burden– and once it is taken up, it can never be discarded. Her knowledge was a burden that led to the pure destruction of O'hara. Despite this fact, thanks to her final mentor Jaguar D. Saul, Robin’s true dream was realized. She would uncover the secrets of the world, and keep the will of Ohara alive. That’s the burden she carries. In doing so, she unknowingly became the flame of the revolution, and one of the world governments most feared
enemies. Because if there's one other thing that’s true about one piece, it’s that the world government lives by preventing its citizens from knowing the truth. Robin though, she’s going to spread that truth to the whole world. Something she’s on the cusp of doing! Once she makes it to laugh tale, it’s game over! She’ll know EVERYTHING. And after she’s uncovered the secrets- she’ll just be able to live happily with her found family. Her true desire. To laugh, and feel loved supporting those arou
nd her. Something she’s been able to find with the straw hats, and something she’ll be able to put her full effort in once the will of Ohara is secure. Holy cow, that was a doozy. Robin’s goals and dreams are full of darkness and responsibility. I think we need a truly SUPER dream to refresh ourselves. Thanks to Franky, we may have just that. Now due to the fact that Franky is a shipwright of Water Seven, it’s a no brainer his dream revolves around creating the most BOMBASTIC AND AMAZING ship to
sail the high seas. And yeah honestly, that’s kind of it. He wants to build the Pirate King’s vessel, sailing the seas having a bunch of crazy adventures. And in doing so, building a ship to rival the Oro Jackson, Gol D. Rogers’ ship. When he does, he’ll have realized his dream of creating a ship to find Laugh Tale. It’s safe to say that once the series ends, Franky at the very least will have accomplished his goal. Afterall, WE HAVE to find the one piece. It’s in the name! But the fun and happ
y dreams aren’t over yet! Because Brooke, the musician of the strawhats, has arguably the most adorable dream of them all. You see, this skeleton has lived a long, long life. But in doing so, he befriended a creature he must return to see. You see, back before the Straw hats crossed the redline, they came across Laboon, a spunky whale that wants to… And well, that Laboon just so happens to know our dear skeleton Brooke. Back from when he was alive at least. So it’s become his goal ever since fin
ding out Laboon is still alive to go back and visit him. Something he’s definitely bound to do before the final war on the holy land. Now that’s what I call powerful bond. Though I must admit, there is a dreamer among the Straw Hats who wants to create an even greater Bond. And that’s to craft and nurture the bond between Fishman and Humans. That’s right, Jinbei’s dream. Jinbei is incredibly well traveled. And if there was an award for crew hopping, this whale shark would take the cake. I mean h
e’s served just about every great pirate on the seas. But none more influential on him than his first captain, Fisher Tiger. Mirroring the likes of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jinbei has the same goal of Fisher Tiger. And that’s to create equality among the fishmen and other races of the world. Destroying all discrimination in the world of one piece. And while Arlong may have been a misguided Sun Pirate, Jinbei definitely isn’t. He’s just a solid dude, all around. If anyone can do it, it’s
Jinbei. It’s an incredibly important dream for him to have- because the only person that can make this change is a Fishman. Especially one who’s destined for greatness. He has the ability to change the entire one piece world- and bears the responsibility as one of the last remaining sun pirates. He’ll see Fisher tiger’s dream through. And to accomplish this dream, he’s allied himself with the warrior of liberation. Monkey D. Luffy. Afterall, who better to support if your dream is liberation and
equality? It’s a no brainer. Plus with luffy destined to destroy Fishman island, Jinbei’s about to have a whole lot of work to accomplish his dream. It’s going to take a long time to do so if the real world’s any indication. And since I brought up no brainers and the warrior of liberation, it’s time to talk about the fearless straw hat captain. Monkey D. Luffy. And I bet you thought this was obvious! Well, prepare to be sorely mistaken. Luffy’s dream is to be King of the Pirates right? To be th
e one that is “the most free”. He’s said time and time again. Obviously, that’s his dream. Boom! Case closed. See ya! *Crickets* Yeah no, not that simple. You see, we actually haven’t heard his dreams just yet. When he was a child, we saw Luffy share his dream with Ace and Sabo, and they had pretty mixed reactions. Not that unlike White Beard and Oden’s reactions when they found out Roger’s true dream. Which we learned thanks to Oden’s memoirs that Luffy and Roger may actually share the EXACT sa
me dream. It must be part of the whole “pirate king” thing. Come to think of it, the strawhats all had similar reactions when they found out his dream too. It must be truly hilarious. Regardless, because of this we know that King of the Pirates is just a stepping stone for luffy to accomplish his true dream. So what is it? Well we have some KILLER theories! So let’s talk about what it COULD be. There’s two popular ideas floating around about Luffy’s true dream, and both make sense. Starting with
the first one. Which heavily revolves around Luffy’s favorite thing, food. His real dream may be to create a world where nobody is ever hungry! A place where anyone can eat whatever, whenever, however they’d like. That’d actually be pretty noble. Which is why I think it’s a bit more unlikely. Afterall, the strawhats were all cracking up after hearing his dream. Now the most insane dream theory out there is the idea that Luffy is trying to be the god of festivals. That's right, he’s on a crash co
urse to host the craziest and most insane party that the world’s ever seen. Afterall, we see Luffy host crazy ragers and festivals after every major arc. And so it makes sense that if Luffy is going to liberate the ENTIRE one piece world, he’d have to throw the most insane party. That’s right… One Piece’s Coachella. With the Soul King headlining, and back up performances from Boku wa doctor tony tony chopper, queen, and scratch man apoo. What a gnarly lineup. Now if you’re curious how close the
straw hats all are to their insane dreams, look no further. That’s right, I’ve got a whole video detailing the mind shatteringly insane evolutions that all of the Straw Hat’s are going to have. Give it a watch! With that said, have a great one, and as always shanks for watching.
