- [PA Speaker] Dr. Barnes to the fertility clinic. Dr. Barnes to the fertility clinic. - Mr. And Mrs. Wetherly? - [Mrs. Wetherly] Oh, I forgot to tell you, Sandy sent us a fractal pattern mobile to go over the crib. Should be good for the baby's mental growth. - You are gonna be such a great mom. - Is this your first time? - Yes, this will be our first. - How wonderful. Sir, if you'll take off your shirt? You can have a seat over here. Ma'am, you can sit over there. - I'm actually a little bit n
ervous. - Don't be, the procedure is totally painless. - How are you doing? You okay? - Yeah, I'm good. I'm good. - All done, congratulations. - We're gonna be hosts. - Taking a nap? - Hey, Darryl, no I was just focused. - Relax, I'm just fucking with you. Shit, Clint. I guess you're gonna have to do some actual work around here instead of jerking off all day. - So that's what you were doing on your paternity leave, huh? - Wouldn't you like to find out, shit head. - Hey, how is the little guy? -
Oh you should hear the pipes on this kid. Can't sleep a wink. Hey you guys are coming to the Christening right? - Yeah of course. - Uh-huh. - Great. Oh hey, you guys have any plans for tomorrow? - Mr. Walton invited you on his hunting trip? - [Tanner] Well, technically Daryl invited me. - But Mr. Walton's gonna be there. - Yeah, it's on his land. - [Emily] Oh my God, do you think, - I don't know, I don't know. But you know he invited Darryl hunting right before his big promotion, so. - This is
it. - Well slow down Em, we don't wanna count our chickens. I'm not the only one that was invited. Clint's gonna be there. - Clint, Clint would burn the factory to the ground if he was left in charge. Everyone knows that. It's gonna be you. - All right, come on now Em, you're making me all nervous. - Look, okay. Look. Just be yourself, okay? You're gonna do great. You got this. (gun fires) - Nice. - Two birds, one shell. - Takes a hell of a shot to bring down a couple of flyers like that. - [Mr.
Walton] No, decoys did all the work, I just got lucky. - That strap of greenbacks you bagged last season, that wasn't luck. - I always wanted to get one of them big fuckers mounted, wings spread, full on attack mode, hang it right in my john. - [Mr. Walton] Does someone wanna grab me a beer? - Yeah, I got it. There you go, last one Mr. Walton. - Thanks. Okay, I'll bite, why would you want an angry duck hanging in your bathroom? - [Clint] 'Cause it's fucking hilarious? Think about it, you're sit
ting on the shitter, you look up and boom, it's coming right at you. - Won't that be a little intimidating to your guests? - [Clint] Nah, fuck 'em. - Fuck 'em. Darryl, you and Clint mind running back to the truck, grabbing that other cooler? - [Daryl] Yeah, sure. - [Mr. Walton] Take that strap back to the truck while you're at it. (ducks quacking) - I really appreciate you inviting me out today, Mr. Walton. It's a great piece of land you got here. - I'm glad you like it. Gotta get you to my plac
e out in Park City sometime. It's nothing fancy, but the game out there is incredible. - Oh, that sounds great, I'd love to go. - How long you been working at Walton Industrial? - About seven years, sir. - And you like the job? - Oh yes sir, I do. Of course, I think I can do more. Handle more I mean. - Are you looking for a promotion? - No, no, I don't wanna be pushy, no. But you know, if you think maybe that's appropriate. - I am looking for a supervisor to cover second shift. What do you say?
You game? Congratulations. - [Daryl] Cold beer to the rescue. - [Clint] Oh man, where do you get this shit anyway? Near about the best damn beer I ever tasted. I did one of these tastings last year, my mom and I we went for Mother's Day, you know to this little brewery in St. Louis town, my cousin Jimbo, oh my God they have all kinds of beer, you wouldn't even believe, I had, they have a thing called a sour beer, you guys ever have a sour beer? (mumbling) - [Emily] Honey? How'd it go? Did you ge
t to talk to him? - I'll be right out. Ow! Ow! - Tanner! - I'm gonna go get some air. - Tanner, you're a host. How'd you get approved? Why didn't you tell me? I would have gone to the clinic with you. - Emily. - Did you know this was, did you even go hunting? - It wasn't like that. - I'll get you a hot washcloth. - Emily. - We're gonna be host parents. I'll get some hand me downs from Betsy at work and I know where we can get a crib secondhand. - [Tanner] I didn't go to a clinic. - We're gonna h
ave to paint the guest room, get it fixed up for the baby. - Please Emily stop, listen to me. He did this to me. - Walton? - In the woods. He held me down and - Why would he do that? Did you say something to him about us wanting to be hosts? - No. - Are you sure? I know how you boys like to drink when you're out there. - Emily, he attacked me. - Baby. It's gonna be okay. Maybe this could be a good thing for us. - [Pastor] And will you nurture this child in Christ's holy church, that by your teac
hing and example he may accept God's grace for himself? - We will. - We will. - [Pastor] Elmore James, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen. - Amen. - Two thousand and twenty years ago, Jesus Christ sacrificed himself to save our kind. War, famine and pestilence had brought humanity to the brink of destruction. That's when we were visited by Jesus. Against the will of his father, Lord of the Saccovens, Jesus had come to Earth to save us from ourse
lves. The Lord was so moved by his Son's sacrifice that he learned to love those beneath Him. - Damn it, knock it off. - [Pastor] And graced humanity with miracles. Curing our plagues and ending the blight. Today we honor Jesus Christ's sacrifice, by hosting the Saccoven children and raising them up as our own. The Lord said go and make disciples of all nations, (mumbles) And bring up his progeny and your own to obey everything I have commanded you. Amen. - Amen. - I'll be right there. - [Daryl]
Easy, slow down there partner. Yeah. - Darryl? - Hey Tanner. - Can I talk to you for a second? - Have a seat. - It's about Mr. Walton. When you went to get the beer and I was alone in the blind with him-- - You know I got promoted right after my first hunting trip with him. - Darryl, listen to me, I got say this now-- - You know we're lucky Nancy and I. Guess we made the right decisions along the way. Recognized opportunities when life presented them to us. Should we go see mama? Okay, let's go
, okay. - I wanna remove it. - Tanner. - I'm serious, Em. - Listen you have a lot of hormones coursing through your blood stream right now, so why don't you just rest and think about it? - I want it out. - [Emily] Tanner, I don't think that's an option. - People have done it. - [Emily] Oh yeah? What people Tanner? The ones in jail, or the dead ones? - Not everyone, I've heard stories about-- - I've heard stories too, so what? So what you wanna be an outlaw? You wanna throw our lives away? I'm no
t willing to do that just you can kill that baby. You're gonna be late. Honey, come on. - I can't do this. - Cold blue, we've got failing pulses on both the baby and the host. - Is it a miscarriage? - No unlikely. God damn butcher probably tried to cut it out of himself. Must have gone into shock. We're gonna have to bifurcate the neuro-umbilical node if we're gonna save them both. Emily I'm gonna need the-- - Micro pituitary rongeur. - Taught her any other tricks? Scalpel. Christ, this thing's
a mess. - Try to avoid nerve resection. - [Doctor] This guy must not have been taking very good care of himself. - Got it, attempting bisection. - Baby's barely breathing. - [Doctor] He's not gonna make it unless we get him out in time. - I can do this. - There's no time. - That'll kill the host. - He made his choice. Get the incubator. Get the incubator! - [Man] No Bonnie, stop. It's too late. Time of death, 11:21. Thank you all. - [Bonnie] Lord Jesus Christ, through your painful crucifixion wh
ich you suffered so patiently for our sins, we ask that you have mercy on this holy soul and turn your face toward him and let him be with you in paradise today. Bless his short life, ended too soon by this earthly evil and bid his soul eternal rest. Amen. - Amen. - Send me a picture. Daddy does miss you. All right, well maybe we can swing by after-- - You knew. - [Nancy] Daryl? - I gotta call you right back. God damn you really are as stupid as you look. It's fine. You want to spend the rest of
your life busting your ass out there? Huh? This is how guys like us get ahead in life. - It wasn't the same for you. Why didn't you say something? - [Darryl] The fuck was I gonna say? That's Walton, that's who he is. You really think you were the only one? - People should know. - [Darryl] Yeah, and whose gonna tell them, you? No one's gonna believe you and even if they did, what then? Walton goes away, this factory closes down, which puts me, you, and every guy here out of a job. You really wan
na be responsible for that? Look, I know this isn't what you had in mind, but not everyone can even be a host. You got a strong back and a healthy body. Use it. Starting bonus from Walton. Might be a good time to get that baby's room fixed up. - [Woman] Mr. Walton's office. - [Darryl] Hey darling, it's Darryl over at the mill, you mind putting him on the phone for a few minutes? (grunting) (screaming) - Honey? Honey? Tanner! Oh my God, please. Sweetheart, wake up. Wake up! (shouting) This is goi
ng to hurt. (shouting) Stay with me. Stay with me. (screaming) Tanner! Tanner! Tanner! Tanner! - What are we gonna do? - I don't know. Maybe I can fake a miscarriage report at the hospital. I don't, I don't know. - I know this isn't what you wanted, Em. I just want you to know that, - Tanner, get up. - [Tanner] What? - You need to get up. - Darryl called me. Thought I should pay you a visit. I thought you were smarter than this, Tanner. - Please. - You're both going to hell. But first you're goi
ng to jail. - No wait, Emily had-- (screaming) She had nothing to do with this. - Don't lie to me. You don't have the brain to do something like this yourself. - Please, please, please, don't hurt him. - You want mercy? All right. - No! Tanner! - You wanna keep your job? This house? This is how that works. - It's okay Em, it's okay. - Good choice. (grunting) (screaming)

"Progeny" was created by the incredible Justin Daering and his talented team at AFI. Be sure to check out the film's website and Instagram to keep up with the project: http://progenymovie.com/ https://www.instagram.com/progeny_movie/

@wvu9787

This movie was very smart covering topics like abortion, rape, abuse of workplace power, religion and more in such a unique way. Awesome 👏 I would love to see a full 90 minute movie based on this.

@BB-gr9hq

"The Boss has something up his sleeve" takes on a whole new meaning. Also, the phrase "Like a Boss" will never be the same for me.

@xbleaksquidx

Really really effective storytelling about violation without being exploitative, I am super impressed and as a survivor, this hit hard. The victim-blaming, the way people treat your differently or like to act like nothing happened? Spot on.

@2m8o15

This short is one of my favorites holy shit. The way she doesn’t listen to him being attacked, the religious aspect, the way she’s like “well maybe this could be a good thing for us” To see everything gender swapped is truly incredible

@SuperCHERISHED

What a twist! I was very pleased when the wife finally stood up for her husband. How horrible it must have been for so many men being assaulted. I don't know if women were also being implanted. The short film was indeed creative.

@TheSCPStudio

The most terrifying part was at the end when you hear all the other alien creatures screaming. You know there’s no escape for these two…

@chrollophile

great one! I love the way the pregnancy happens behind their neck, just show how much burden this whole thing on their shoulder.

@homie8289

when the other victim was downplaying his experience and told him to stay quiet it sent so many flashbacks rushing into my head. its a conversation i know all too well. this was an amazing film. thank you.

@forbol

Integrate your agenda into the dominant religious beliefs and most anything will be accepted. Also loved flipping the script on the male/female birthing roles. This was quite good. finally one of these short films that tells a story from beginning to end.

@QwertyUiop-yp8jt

I must say this was an incredible film. It makes me feel even more sorry for the people who are raped every day. The scariest films are the real ones. I hope everyone who watched this film had the same experience I did.

@popermen694

I really love how much perspective this gives. Without it being preachy or cheesy.

@sgg3586

I think the symbolism in this was amazing, and the production/effects top-notch.

@driftin90src

What's worse than alien warfare is that they find a way to be deeply integrated into human society, especially political and religious groups.

@jordantoohey7813

I need more of this. I want sequels. I want more backstory. This was one of the best shorts I have ever seen. The acting was absolutely amazing; all of them. Oh wow. I can’t say enough good things.

@characters.inc_1233

I love this narrative so much. I especially loved the touch of how religious people value the baby more than the mother by the doctor trying to save the alien over the host. Amazing film

@robshort5620

Said it once and I'll say it again, I love Alter for bringing this type of content to wide audiences. Justin should be praised for a well made movie that didn't resort to cheap shocks to get the message across. Also the thumbnail was perfect, I had no idea where this was going!

@lordot8665

23:31this is why its so important to sharpen your kitchen knives because you really never know when you got to slice an alien parasite baby out of your partners neck.

@GangstaSparkleFairy

I went into this expecting typical body horror, but I was really impressed when all of the deeper thematic concepts became clear and even more impressed by how those concepts were presented in a way that didn't feel too obvious or preachy or pretentious. I would really like to see a longer film of this.

@Hokova

This does an AMAZING job showing how dismissive people can be of rape and workplace abuse, because ´who´s going to change it´.´Who´s going to believe you´. Fucking superb. I needs to be a manistream horror.
