[Music] How's it going, Riley here with Hudson Motors today with RetroManufacturing, here in our garage working on our 1972 Ford F-100, installing some Retropod. These are speaker pods called the RPod 6A, meant for mounting six and a half speakers in your classic vehicle if you don't have a good place to mount them. they're super nice, it's a great solution, they're paintable, or you can wrap them, you can upholster them, and they'll look great in your classic. If you don't want to cut holes or
mess up your upholstery or anything like that, these are a great solution for you. Here we have it right in front of us, so this is the RPod. Again it is made for a six and a half inch speaker. If you're gonna install it with a six and a half, you'd cut this inner ring out in order for your six and a half inch speaker to fit in there. They are tapered, so you can angle them in different ways so you get the sound in the direction that you'd like it, but they're a great and easy solution when work
ing on your truck or your classic vehicle to be able to mount your speakers where you'd like them without having to do any damage to your vehicle. Really easy install, however again you're just going to mount these wherever with some sheet metal screws. You're going to need some pretty simple tools: a drill, an impact, some screwdrivers, some sheet metal, screws nothing crazy to get this done. You'll be able to do  it really quickly, especially if you already have everything wired. Your speaker
wire is done, this is a very quick and easy install, but let me show you why, and this is a great truck and the reason why we're using it and why you'd want to use this in your own vehicle. So here on this truck, we've got really nice upholstered door panels, and we don't want to cut them up, and we don't want to cut the door in an area that hasn't been previously cut in this door. The only pocketed area where you could get a speaker would be over here, and so the seat's going to block that off.
We don't want to cut into our nice door panel or cut the sheet metal, so we thought, "okay, let's run speaker pods," and we're going to put those pods down in the kick panels, where they're going to look nice and still sound good and not have to do any damage to the truck. So with that being said, let's hop right in and get started. [Music] Alright, so here we are inside of our truck. We're going to work right here up inside our kick panel, I've already got all of our speaker wire ran and ready
to go, and the nice thing about this is you'll be able to just mount this speaker pod and kind of tuck your wires behind it. You don't need to, it's not going to go on so tight that you're going to pinch your wires or cause any damage, but we're going to mount this up in there. So first you'll mount your ring, and then you'll mount your speaker over on top of your ring here. I've already trimmed our ring down, I didn't do the craziest prettiest job, but you don't really need to because again it
's going to be hidden behind your speaker, so there you go. Put your speaker on there, and then we're going to mount that up right in our kick panel really nice, and then I'll find a nice place to tuck our wires so they're not exposed later. But yeah let's just hop right into it, so first things first you're going to see eight holes down along the base of the speaker pod. Once you've decided on the orientation where you want this speaker pod to go, so I'm going to take the thinnest section of my
speaker pod and point that at kind of the seat so that the sound directs itself that way and it kicks the speaker out that way a little bit. So that's kind of where I'm happy with the the placement of this speaker, from there I'll drill some pilot holes and sink one screw in and just hold it into place, and then drill the rest of my pilot holes and sink eight screws so that's held in there nice and tightly into my kick panel. You're going to want to make sure you don't have any wires running be
hind that kick panel before you do this. I've already double checked, this is all just steel, so I'm good. So again, you'll drill your holes, get it set, drill the rest, put in a bunch of sheet metal screws so it's held on there nice and secure, and then you'll put your speaker in afterwards. You'll drill your speaker right to this, and you'll kind of follow that same exact procedure. You'll mark one hole, drill your speaker, drill that hole for your speaker to mount to, and then once that holes
in you can mark the rest of your eight holes and put screws in it and it'll be lickety-split. So this won't take but just a few minutes. Let's get after it. [Music] Okay, our speaker pod is fully mounted down now, we got all these screws in there. Now, when you're doing this in your own garage at home, you might think that's a little bit overkill, and it probably is, but that's okay because it's on there super secure. You probably could get away with four screws, but we give you guys the option
so that, you know, if you can only mount a screw at a certain location because you don't want to hit a wire somewhere, you'll at least have all these screw mounting places so you know it'll be nice and in there firm. So that's in there now, our speaker wire is round behind it as well, so now it's on to mounting up the speaker for it. So before you do that, we're using our RetroSound speakers here, which are really nice and have a, the bezel hides all the screws so all you see is the mesh facepl
ate so that's really nice, but go ahead and pop that all out. You're going to mark up your holes, and I'm going to do this just using our bezel, just to make it a little bit easier here so you're not having to hold the speaker up, but I'm going to go ahead and mount our bezel, make those holes with the bezel itself and then pull it back off and connect our speaker in the end and finish it off. I'm using double-sided tape here, just because of my kind of rough angle and trying to hold this in the
re. You want to get this ring centered on that nicely so that your six and a half fits in that hole that you cut. So, rather than having to fight it and hold it with one hand to drill with the other hand and be slipping all over the place, I'm just adding a couple little pieces of double-sided tape on the back. You don't have to do this, I'm just doing it because it's going to make my job a little easier here. [Music] There we go, now I'm winning. The first screw is the hardest. Just trying to g
et it held in there. You guys heard that Sarah Mclaughlin song? The first screw is the hardest. Alright, speakers back in, it's wired in now, now I just got to finish off with the face plate so these mesh covers just pop right in, and they're pressure fitted in. And boom, just like that. Tie it up, finish it off, and just like that we've got our speaker pod. It was, I mean even on camera, here this still took us maybe only five minutes to put in. They're super fast so, again, really easy, great
solution, this way we don't have to cut up our door panels, we don't have to do anything else we just can bolt it right in. And it's all said and done. But yeah, again super easy, really nice, quick, easy way to do it. So, they're a great solution, again if you've got a classic and you don't want to go do damage to any of your body panels or anything like that, these are a great, great great way to put them in. We're going to probably take these back out later and carpet them, and so that they m
atch really nicely but again, even as is and just they're plain, black plastic, they look killer, they'll match nicely and then they are pretty low profile. So even if I sit down in here, I'm not going to be kicking it all the time, it's going to work out just great for me. So they're a great product, soon to come out from RetroManufacting, from RetroSound is the 4x6 pod as well, RPod 4A which is pre-cut for a 4x6 speaker, pre-drilled, no cutting, no trimming required, perfect for mounting up yo
ur four by sixes. It's also a great way to putting some extra speakers behind your seats as well. So again, another really cool pod coming out that we have, but again this is a great product. You have our six and a half speakers, just a great way of mounting them. They're super nice and secure, like I could probably rock the truck on that and nothing, so they're not going anywhere. They're really nice, so again just a great product for you and your classic. But with that, that's the end of this
video. we appreciate you guys for watching. Make sure you subscribe to us here on YouTube, and check us out on Instagram and all that kind of good stuff. And go grab yourself a set for your own classic ride. Again, thanks again for watching, see ya. [Music]
