How Uncle Roger Helped Destroy Jamie Oliver's Reputation

Over the last few years stand up comedian Nigel Ng's character Uncle Roger has helped destroy the reputation of Jamie Oliver by exposing his lack of knowledge and skills in the Asian cuisine world. Most notably by roasting his egg fried rice..... šŸ“ø Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/phatmemer/ šŸ¦Twitter - https://twitter.com/phatmemer šŸ“” Discord - https://discord.gg/mpYn3Qvn7v šŸŒ Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/phatmemer/ šŸŽµ TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@phatmemer SECOND CHANNEL: šŸ„ Phat Network - / @ucd92exie60bpkum... Throughout his career Uncle Roger AKA standĀ  up comedian Nigel Ng has made a career out of humiliating chefs and has had many victimsā€¦..theĀ  first being on the 8th of July 2020, uploading a video to his youtube channel titled ā€œUncleĀ  Roger disgusted by this Egg Fried Rice Videoā€ it was basically a video roasting the BBCā€™sĀ  tutorial on how to cook egg fried rice, the video since then has 37 million viewsĀ  on youtube alone. This roasting of the BBCā€™s rice led to uncle roger collabingĀ  with the pre
senter, AKA Auntie Hershaā€¦. the following month Uncle Roger honed in on hisĀ  next target, this time, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver. Uploading a video titled ā€œUncleĀ  Roger Hate Jamie Oliver Egg Fried Riceā€. According to Uncle Roger he got most things wrong,Ā  including but not limited to, using packet rice, the rice being too wet, using no garlic,usingĀ  olive oil, using chili jam, using a frying pan instead of a wok and just generally makingĀ  a shit egg fried rice. Causing uncle roger's ancestors to
weepā€¦.but also cry with joy becauseĀ  the video got 26 million views on youtube alone. ā€œFinally, there is someone who canĀ  literally roast the celebrity chef. Not just a random complaint, uncleĀ  roger complaints were actual facts.ā€ This would be the first entry of a oneĀ  way mission to shame Jamie Oliver for his cooking abilityā€¦..However Uncle Roger isnā€™tĀ  the only person to have beef with Jamieā€¦.. Throughout his career Jamieā€™s managed toĀ  capture the hearts of menopausing women and become incre
dibly successful doing so,Ā  those cookbooks donā€™t sell themselves. But heā€™s also managed to acquire a hugeĀ  amount of haters. There are many reasons that go into people hating JamieĀ  Oliver, but there are four big factors; The first being his war on school dinners bothĀ  in the UK and US. He was becoming incredibly frustrated at the state of school meals andĀ  obesity rates in children and decided to take action, which is a fair and noble cause. HoweverĀ  the execution didnā€™t go so well, with him g
etting turkey twizzlers banned in the UK, causing uproarĀ  and breaking down in tears in America after he showed a bunch of kids how chicken nuggetsĀ  are made and was surprised they still wanted chicken nuggets. This event would even leadĀ  to Jamie being mocked on a Southpark episode. The next factor was his role in theĀ  hugely controversial sugar tax. The Sugar tax would make soft drink companiesĀ  who make products containing more than 5% sugar have to pay between 18p and 24p forĀ  every liter th
ey produce. Which saw nearly 50% of the sugar sweetened soft drinks marketĀ  reduce the level of sugar in their products. Jamie was instrumental in getting this taxĀ  implemented, campaigning on the streets and talking to politicians. But the people ofĀ  Britain were furious with this decision. In Scotland he even proposed a 2-4-1 ban on pizzas,Ā  which some argued would only really affect the poorest in society . It seemed likeĀ  he was on a rampage to ruin all foodā€¦. The third factor, In June 2008
Jamie launched aĀ  restaurant chain called ā€œJamieā€™s Italianā€ which at its peak had 42 restaurants in the UK andĀ  became franchised with branches all over the world. However in 2011, he gained controversyĀ  due to it being revealed that the sauces used in the restaurants were from an industrialĀ  park almost 400 miles away. Which wouldnā€™t be a problem if Jamie Oliver wasnā€™t such aĀ  big advocate of cooking meals from scratch and using local produce. Not only that, theĀ  finances of the company were cr
umbling and the food quality began rapidly declining in a lotĀ  of the restaurants. Which ultimately led to 22 of 25 restaurants getting closed down by may 2019Ā  and 1,000 jobs lost. Jamieā€™s other restaurants and overseas locations were franchises soĀ  they were unaffected. In March 2022 Jamie revealed that he was pulling restaurants outĀ  of Russia in response to the Ukraine conflict. Uncle Roger tweeted ā€œIf he wanted to hurt Russia,Ā  he shouldā€™ve kept his restaurants there openā€. The final major
factor in peopleĀ  generally disliking Jamie Oliver is because of a scandal in 2018 in which heĀ  was accused of cultural appropriation for his microwavable jerk rice. He labeled the productĀ  ā€œpunchy jerk riceā€ but found backlash because it literally didnā€™t include any of the ingredientsĀ  found in traditional Jamaican jerk marinade. This resulted in the product getting removed fromĀ  shelves and Jamie hiring cultural appropriation specialists to advise on future cookbooks.Ā  This happens all the tim
e in the cooking world, a chef will take a cuisine from around theĀ  world and add their own whacky spin on it and just call it experimentation and includeĀ  it in their 5 minute meal cook books. For example both Jamie and Gordon Ramsay angeredĀ  spanish people by putting curitzo in paella. After Uncle Roger roasted Jamieā€™s egg fried riceĀ  to pieces, he set his sights on Gordon Ramsay by analyzing and reacting to his IndonesianĀ  inspired fried rice. However unlike Jamie, Gordon was actually very go
od at making friedĀ  rice and was given compliments from Nigelā€¦. One commenter underneath the video statedā€¦. ā€œPeople underestimate Gordon. They donā€™t realize that he traveled the world to master his craft. HeĀ  learned about cuisine around the worldā€. Another unknown commenter stated ā€œHappy you approve rogerā€ But in the same breath, Gordon isnā€™t immune to getting the asian cuisine completelyĀ  wrong, during an episode of his tv show, gordon showed a head chef at a top thaiĀ  restaurant in London, hi
s version of pad thaiā€¦. On the 31st of January 2021 Uncle Roger wouldĀ  deliver his next analysis of Jamie Oliverā€™s asian cooking, this time seeming like he had learnt fromĀ  his mistakes using actual rice instead of packet rice but still mostly fucking up the sauce forĀ  the fish. Despite Uncle Rogers reviews getting hundreds of millions of views across platformsĀ  Jamie still didnā€™t acknowledge Uncle Rogerā€¦. This would lead to an uncle roger roastingĀ  for the third time, this time watching him mak
e ramen. As predicted, the methods,Ā  technique and some of the ingredients were just plain wrong, most notably usingĀ  soba noodles when claiming to make ramen. ā€œAs a Japanese my soul is crushed.Ā  He unnecessarily killed the miso, leaves pork belly unflavoured, puts onĀ  raw bean sprouts, uses soba noodles and says itā€™s ramen. Jamie Oliver, you needĀ  to come to Japan and eat REAL ramen.ā€ Over the next 2 years Uncle RogerĀ  cemented Jamie as his arch nemesis by creating five more roasting videos,Ā  c
ritiquing his green and red thai currys, butter chicken and even being heldĀ  hostage to review his Indonesian salad. During this period Uncle Roger met GordonĀ  Ramsay in real life for the first timeā€¦ In the caption of the video Uncle Roger statedĀ  that they bitched about Jamie Oliver for 15 minutes when meeting. Which kinda makesĀ  sense, you see Gordon and Jamie Oliver have had a complex relationship for overĀ  a decade, publicly trading barbs at each other. In 2015 while opening a restaurant inĀ
Hong Kong Ramsay stated ā€œAt least Iā€™m here, I came to my opening right? If youā€™reĀ  going to open a restaurant in Hong Kong, at least turn up.ā€ Jamie defends not turningĀ  up to restaurant openings as he doesnā€™t like to take the attention away from staff. In 2017Ā  Ramsay criticized Jamie's promotion of healthy eating stating ā€œIt;s all very well to spout offĀ  now about sugar tax and supermarkets. None of that was spoken about when he was label-slappingĀ  with Sainsburyā€™s for ten years. And no disre
spect, but weā€™re chefs, not politicians. When you breatheĀ  that stuff down the public's throat and say ā€œIā€™m leaving if we have Brexit, then Iā€™m sorry, theĀ  door stands open. Stand for what you say. Sadly, the only time he opens his mouth isĀ  when heā€™s got something to promote.ā€ Despite this the two supposedly squashed the beefĀ  in 2019 when Gordon appeared on the Jonathan Ross show and talked about the fall of Jamieā€™sĀ  restaurant empire, offering his sympathies. Jamie has been targeted throughou
t UncleĀ  Rogers catalog of videos however in January 2024 Uncle roger took things to the nextĀ  level uploaded a video reacting to Jamie Oliverā€™s lamb curry song with world famousĀ  music producer benny blanco. The Lamb curry song AKA Give it to me hot was a lyricalĀ  version of a recipe that just sounded like a white guy with pukka shells heard reggaeĀ  music once and tried to make a song. It was written to be part of Jamieā€™s live cookingĀ  shows, where essentially he would cook the dish as the song
lyrics were playing.Ā  Itā€™s all quite perplexing really, one, the fact that at one point in time people wouldĀ  pay money to watch this, two, he made a reggae song and three he made a reggae song for a lambĀ  curry that isnā€™t even a Jamaican lamb curryā€¦ The following week Uncle Roger created aĀ  Jamie Oliver diss track with the help of Benny blanco with all proceeds going toĀ  the food charity that Jamie works withā€¦ To this day Jamie has never acknowledged uncleĀ  roger, which is fine obviously, not
everyone has to be involved in internet theatrics but it doesĀ  unfortunately lead people to believe that heā€™s taking it personally or doesnā€™t see the funnyĀ  side to it maybe. Which again doesnā€™t help his public persona to people outside of unseasonedĀ  food lovers and menopausing women categoryā€¦. Thank you so much for watching this video, IĀ  really do appreciate it, make sure to follow all of my socials @phatmemer, like, subscribeĀ  and comment below what you wanna see nextā€¦ā€¦

@4wheal

I like that Gordon actually has a sense of humour and is willing to learn from his mistake and seems to have fun interacting with Roger

@justme002

Jamie Oliver's reputation was pretty bad before Uncle Roger.

@DrakeBarrow

The idea of Ramsey and Roger bonding over Oliver bitching is hilarious.

@rebeccablackburn9487

Jamie closes his restaurants and "can't afford to pay his employees severance" but can afford a grade 1 listed estate for upwards of 6 million dollars. Classy guy!

@LaVitaNouva

Difference between Jamie and Gordon is, while both can fuck up the dishes out of their expertise, Gordon actually care and learn from it.

@ThatLeaf

Jamie Oliver visited my hometown area when he went to try to "fix" the school lunches there. In truth, he came off as arrogant and bashed the lunch ladies and nutritionists instead of the government workers who dictate the mandatory requirements to said lunch ladies and schools.

@tikaalik

His disastrous attempt to make an Italian feastā€¦ in an Italian villageā€¦ while they rip him up for doing it all wrong. Trying to ā€œimproveā€ their traditional dishes. Wow.

@desertsniper23

Jamie didn't need Uncle Roger's help to destroy his reputation he was doing that just fine all on his own

@fisk7aal

Even the chilli jam company invited Uncle Roger for a tour.

@JHak909

Jamie has become a meme for Uncle Roger at this point.

@0142Jason

A chef friend of mine once put serious thought into starting a YouTube channel where whenever Jamie Oliver puts up a video he would make the same dish done correctly to a professional standard. It would have been called ā€˜Oliverā€™s Correctional Officer.ā€™

"If he wanted to hurt Russia, he should've kept the restaurants open." Ouch!

ā€œAnother online commenterā€ is Gordon Ramsay hhahhahahhahahhaa

@avfc1985

Jamie Oliver only talks when he has something to promote or remove from others. No wonder he is disliked.

@monsieur_nemo

Imagine Jamie going through his villain arc because of this

@scarredcoyote

I think the difference between Ramsey and Oliver is that Ramsey basically plays a caricature of himself in his shows (Kitchen Nightmares and so on, not his cooking shows) and Oliver is a case of WYSIWYG whatever show he's in. Ramsey is smart enough to know when to laugh at himself (at least publicly). I'm pretty sure that if uncle Roger roasted him, Ramsey STILL would have met up with uncle Roger.

@Kecapsoya

Calling the rice is too wet is an understatement šŸ˜‚

@RonLaws

I wouldn't say it's fair to pin all of this credit/blame on Uncle Roger. Uncle Roger is just one of the more entertaining voices merely shining the light on what Jamie has already been doing on his own merit, that most of us were already aware of.

@Mister6

The fact that Nigel/Uncle Roger takes the time to differentiate when he's reviewing a famous chef vs. when he's reviewing a home cook (e.g. Kay) and makes it clear he's doing things all in good fun and not to attack them shows that not only is he a great comedian (and a surprisingly apt food critic, he does great research before each video) but he's also a nice person who understands that comedy can hurt people if taken the wrong way. Instead of roasting Kay, people cheer her improvements and successes. Nigel's review actually helped her channel immensely

@ricardoandsarahandchrisgam4142

If he wanted to hurt Russia he should have kept his restaurants open . Iā€™m dying šŸ’€šŸ’€šŸ’€
