Traveling Desi

Finally after several twists and turns, we have reached. Though I feel that the next 4-5 days are going to be a disaster. So if you are going to be disappointed, I apologize in advance. But this is a new experience for us, and for you. You have seen far too many polished series. It’s now time to enjoy an untouched-type vlog. What say? Yeah, sure. The roads are quite dangerous, I’ll show you. Your Bangkok vlogs didn’t leave Khaosan for the longest time. With my cousin Parag who lives in Bangkok..
I am Traveling Desi. And we are exploring the part of Thailand that most Indians rarely visit. With Aditya, my cameraperson for this trip. And by the way, this is the border between Thailand and Burma. But this story began last night when we were 7-8 hours away from Bangkok. On the way to Phuket, there’s a city called Ranong, where we are headed. We booked our hotel online at the very last moment. But since it was a long way, we had to stop for dinner. And if you need to visit the washroom on t
he way, you can stop at the gas station. Is it PPT or PTT? PTT. The washrooms by PTT, i mean gas stations. They are great. You get petrol here. This car requires Octane 91 grade, which is cheaper than 95. I’ll look for the washroom here. There are a lot of shops and eateries here. I can even see a 7-11 behind me. A car is being parked, let me come to the side or they might hit me. For our dinner, we went to a Thai roadside restaurant. There were a lot of Thai-style vegetables here available with
rice for 50 Baht. This also consisted of home-style chicken, pork and veg options as well. There’s no English speaking population here. You have to point at things and order them. I recognize this is a popular delicacy in Thailand, rice topped with chicken. It comes with a soup and chili. You can have it fried or boiled. But these meals can feel bland in taste. So you can add sauces available here to spice it up. For a salty flavor, they add soya sauce to chicken and rice. We got 2-3 food optio
ns which features a veg item as well. So if you are a vegetarian, you can easily get veg food. You just have to made them understand what you need. Otherwise you can use the translate feature of Google App. In my plate, I’ve had fried chicken and boiled chicken as well. He got a portion of pork and another portion of fish. They also serve soup with every meal. And you can use the sauces to tune it as per your liking. As if a lot of people will come here to have a meal. That too so far away from
Bangkok. Whether anyone comes to eat or not, we have to show what we are eating. Because we are moving from a travel channel to a vlog channel. We… We’ve been eating KFC and pizza for the past few days, nothing else. We had a little bit of Japanese. Yeah. Our cameraman is scandalized after witnessing all this. He’s saying that he’ll get a burger or sandwich from 7-11. Safest option. I can’t eat all this. Our regular protein shake. Protein shake. Apart from this he got a croissant and choco-chips
bread. He’s avoiding this wonderful food and having chewing hum instead. We finished our meal and left. Great, is this how you build muscle? You know, I sometimes eat 2-3 of these before going to sleep. Don’t close the door, the keys are inside, if it gets locked, it will be a big problem. I don’t have it all the time. Okay. Very good. I always have the White one. The one with almonds is quite good as well. Chocolate almond. Which one did you get? This is vanilla and that, they didn’t have the
one with almonds. You should have had choco-bar instead if you wanted this. You should get this one. It’s about the taste.. the one with almonds. Okay. And in a little while, we reached our hotel. After taking a backup of our data, we had to explore the area the next morning. As I told you before, this is a city which is on the way from Bangkok to Phuket. Not many people come here for tourism purposes. So we are heading out. What’s the name of this place? Ranong? Ranong. This is a place called R
anong, the popular areas nearby are Surat Thani and Chun Pong. This is where the boats leave for Koh Pha Ngan and Koh Tao. There are a lot more locals here with minimal tourist influence. Hence the hotels are incredibly cheap here. The one we are staying at cost us around Rs.2000. Rs.2200 per day. 1000 Baht. Including breakfast. Including breakfast. 1000 Baht. We are leaving from here and Parag has carried out all the planning. He researched and found that there are 1-2 viewpoints in the area. S
o let’s check out the viewpoints first and after that we’ll head to the beach in the evening. We didn’t plan anything, we are just going to see the places we found through immediate research. Now let’s see how the overall experience is for this unplanned trip. Where are we going? Where are you taking us? Let’s go to the viewpoint first. How far is it? About 25 kilometers. Okay. 25 km? The place which we crossed last night. Oh that mountain-type thing? That’s the one, on the way to the beaches. O
kay. Whatever. Let’s go. It’s 15 km away. Whatever it is, let’s get into our car and go. Sir, you know all the viewpoints and stuff. Quickly put the location in the map. I’ll do that. I started the car, and now we are going reverse. We have left with our cameras. Now when we are shooting b-roll footage, I tell him to smile. Put on a fake smile. Smiling shots are always look better. Because the people who watch our videos come home tired from their jobs and businesses. So if we greet them with a
grim “Now we are going, we’ll see that”. So they don’t want to watch those faces. They want smiling faces. Hence, smile. Laugh your heart out. Wonderful. Good job. Let me focus on the driving part, the roads are quite dangerous. Focus. You focus on the road, he’s driving an automatic shift for the first time. Amateur people. I’m training him the ropes of the camera and training him how to drive this car. And both of them are training me to keep quiet. And then we reached to this lake which reach
es up to Thailand’s border. After a short drive, we finally reached this viewpoint. The lake in front of you is divided into two, the left part lies in Thailand while the right side is in Burma. And we were watching all this from here. The viewpoint located below this tower. Look at these tiny islands through which the water passes through. It’s so wonderful to watch. These kind of views aren’t found in India, unless you head towards Andaman side or Lakshwadeep side. Though you won’t get to see
this view in most cities. Pretty. When we go towards (?Fangda?), after a drive of 150 kilometers, they have these by the dozens. Really? Then we should hire a boat to experience them up close. We’ll enquire for the boat. There are boats leaving from there, the city. Look one of the boats is right there. Yeah. So let’s enquire about the cost and the time taken as well. Yeah. If you go to Phuket for this experience, with similar water bodies and islands. It’s incredibly crowded and highly commerci
alized. But since this place is not commercialized. There’s just one drawback, you need your own ride here because there are limited public buses as far as I know. It’s quite far away from Bangkok, but Ranong has it’s own airport, so you can take a flight from Bangkok and come here. Now I’ve already shot all the various party scenes across Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and Fifi last year. I haven’t uploaded them yet. But I’ll upload them in conjunction with this vlog series, so that you can see the natur
e’s side as well, which is miles away form commercialism and party zones. And you’ll get to see the party side once I start adding them to my channel. Which do you prefer, parties or peace and quiet. I prefer such peaceful places, that’s why I brought you guys here. He forcefully took us here. He said that you partied a lot, now come with me. He says that just get me a bottle of beer, and a book. And a book, to read or show off? To read. Okay, to actually read. So a book, a beer and a chair to
sit and enjoy the view. But limited people are able to do that. For instance, I’m quite restless, I need a high-energy environment. So I prefer cities better. While he is like so. So based on your taste, if you like peaceful environments, Ranong is a really good option. If you like parties more, then Koh Phangan and what’s the name of the other tiny island? Koh Nang Yuan. Whatever, so we’ll show that place to you in the next video. So we’ve explored the hill, now let’s head towards the beach? Ye
ah, let’s go. I’ve heard that there are two kinds of people. Just like we have cat people and dog people, the same way, there are mountain person and beach person. I’m a mountain person, I don’t like beaches. What about you? I’m a mixx of both. All rounder. Let’s go. Over there. A little. We also spent the next 2-3 days exploring the mountains, but that’s a topic for another day. And beaches too. If you enjoyed this video, Please don’t forget to hit the Like button.
