If your from LA durning 70s, 80s or 90s you know how cholo / chicano culture got to Pi. It started by people getting deported after serving prison time. Filipinos and chicanos lived shoulder to shoulder in barrios of LA for generations. Few notable areas Rampart, Northeast LA, Carson and Cerritos and Oxnard in Ventura county. A lot old barrios in these areas have and had long history of both chicano and filipinos members such as Temple st, , Rebels , 18st, Sarzana. . If you go to Historic Filipinotown in LA you run into old veterano Filipinos who tattooed and walk , talk like old chicano. I say Chicano and not Mexican only because durning those times most Latinos in La born in US and had different talk and walk compare to Mexican directly from Mexico. The chicanos would not allow Mexican to join in a lot gangs those days which is how 18st started. That another story on its own. Anyways yes when these gangster got deported back to Pi a place most didn’t even know since came to US young the culture which they grew up in came with them and it just caught on to locals in PI. I know this as grew up with a lot same Guys who got deported.

Now ya look like a NavajO

@alexromero4315

You can’t compare “k culture” to this, people in LA get murdered for looking like this, so for people to use it as a fashion statement somewhere else is just a bit strange to me.

@lipskie7202
