"Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" will be set some time after the events of its predecessor. According to a casting report, several ape societies will have emerged from the oasis in the film, which will be released in 2024 while a small group of humans have slowly recovered from the ape flu. Caesar's legacy is said to be ambivalent: While some ape societies have never heard of the hero, others turn events in their favor and establish their own empires based on false facts.
