March 27, 2023. A gloomy Sunday morning. The citizens of the village of Novyy Burets in the Kirov Oblast gather in the local house of culture. They are very worried and want to speak to the authorities immediately. - So you're afraid that... - Yes. We can't sleep at night. That's the kind of fear everyone has. That's right. You see, everyone's talking and being afraid. Because he, you know... You can expect anything from him, apparently. There are 337 people living in Novyy Burets. The majority
of them are women. Almost all of them work at the local agricultural enterprise "Rus" as milkmaids, which means that they go to work and return in the dark. We go to work at 3 o'clock in the morning, nobody drives us to work or brings us back. We go alone, at our own risk. And in the evening we go home at 8:30 or 9 p.m., and he can be drunk somewhere and catch us with a pitchfork or an axe. The man in question is Ivan Rossomakhin. He appeared in the village a few days ago - returned from the fro
nt. Since then, he has been wandering the streets drunk, smashing car windows and attacking passersby. He has a pitchfork, an axe, a knife. Then he walks on the street and shouts: "I'm going to kill everyone, I'm going to slaughter the whole family!" Then he shouts again. The fear of the locals is easy to explain. Novyy Burets is the home village of Rosomakhin. Many people here remember him. They know what he has done before and how he went to the war. As long as he is here, officers will be her
e around the clock, because you can expect anything from this thug. We all understand this sufficiently, we have a clear understanding of everything. We understand your worries and fears, so we will not let you offend under any circumstances. We have an agreement that we will put him on a train with all his things on Tuesday and that he will get the hell out of here so that I will not see him here again. Rossomakhin will not leave on Tuesday. The police will not keep their promise. On March 28,
the day after this meeting, Ivan Rosomakhin kills a man. And now we will reconstruct with you the events of that day and the events that preceded it. The most cruel murder Let's go back to 8 years ago. 2016, summer, night. The windows of the grocery store in Novy Burets were smashed and the alarm system howled throughout the street. The store has been robbed. Someone stole 2 bottles of Fanta, 26 cans of canned food - stew, stuffed peppers and saira in oil - and 19 bottles of vodka. The vodka had
the great name - "Russian Way". The loot will soon be found in the raspberry bushes - the criminal has thrown the bag directly into his own garden. Ivan Rossomakhin turns out to be the culprit. He was 21 years old at the time. When the police were looking for him, he hit an acquaintance with a shovel while drunk. And when he was finally arrested, it turned out that a year earlier Rossomakhin had also broken into someone else's house while drunk and tried to choke a neighbor. Back then, he was s
ent to a special detention center for two weeks. This time he was sentenced to three years in a penal colony. Rossomakhin was released in May 2019 and came back to Novyy Burets. Over the next few months he drank and caused trouble - that was the reason the police came to see him, but Rossomachin naturally preferred not to meet them - he fled each time to the ravine behind his house and hid there until they left. On November 11, six months after his release, he went to the neighboring village of
Vyatskie Polyany, got drunk and discovered a woman with a backpack at a bus stop. Rossomakhin had no money, so he decided to rob the woman. It was 5 p.m. and it was getting dark. After making sure that no one else was on the street, Rossomakhin attacked the woman, threw her to the ground, started choking her, then grabbed her backpack and ran away. The backpack contained a carton of milk and sliced bread worth a total of 66 roubles. Rossomakhin threw everything away. He was arrested for this st
reet theft. Considering that this was not his first arrest, he was supposed to go to prison for three and a half years, but in the course of the investigation it turned out that Rossomakhin had done something much worse. It happened on October 4 - five months after Rossomakhin's release from prison and one month before the theft of the backpack. That day he visited a friend - to drink, of course, and he was already drunk. To take a shortcut, Rossomakhin crawled into the garden of his neighbor Ta
tiana Sapozhnikova. Tatiana was always afraid of Rossomakhin because she remembered stories about him - about how he'd break into villagers' houses. She confessed this to her daughter, and the daughter later told it at the trial. So when she saw Rosomakhin on her property, Sapozhnikova ran out of the house and shouted at him to leave immediately. Rossomakhin became furious, rushed at her and hit her twice on the head with his fist. The woman staggered and ran into the house, but Rosomakhin ran a
fter her. As he later said in court - to apologize, but the woman, he said, didn't listen to him, continued to scream and then grabbed a rake and tried to defend herself. And then he started hitting her. I quote the verdict: "He struck her with at least 9 blows with hands and feet with boots on the head, the genitals, the upper extremities and the lower right extremity." The blows caused Tatyana to fall to the ground and never get up again. Rossomakhin said he went to her afterwards, listened t
o her heart and found that she was dead. Then he decided to stage an accident. He brought the woman's body into the sauna and laid her face down on a rake, as if she had fallen on it. This is how her daughter found her the next day. During the trial, Ivan Rossomakhin claimed that he had not killed his neighbor. It was the investigators who forced him to confess. The court did not believe him. Firstly, one of the neighbors saw Rossomakhin climbing over the fence to the property of the murdered Ta
tyana Sapozhnikova, and secondly, his biological traces - skin particles and sweat mixed with the blood of the murdered neighbor - were found at the crime scene Doctors who examined Rossomakhin psychiatrically diagnosed a mental disorder, but came to the conclusion that he was aware of the criminal nature of his actions despite this diagnosis. Ivan Rossomakhin was sentenced to 14 years in a strict penal colony for murder and robbery. He was due to be released in 2033. But then Rossomakhin's fate
took a sharp turn - Putin pardoned him. And with that, the death sentence for another person was signed. Rossomakhin did not remain in prison for long - shortly after the start of the war with Ukraine, he joined the PMC Wagner and went to the front. From there he returned to his home village for a vacation in the spring of 2023. This is where my story began - he got drunk, smashed car windows and threatened passersby with pitchforks and an axe. The very next day after his return, he was arreste
d for this and subsequently imprisoned for 5 days. This did not reassure the locals, so they went to that meeting with the police and the local administration and demanded to be protected from Rossomakhin. Everyone knew how dangerous he was, including the police. Listen to what the head of the inter-municipal department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said at the time We have a person, Ivan Leonidovich Rassomakhin, who has returned from a special military operation. In principle, it was to b
e expected that he would freak out, because he is an extremely unstable and problematic person. That was all to be expected. On March 28, Rossomakhin left the special detention center. On the morning of March 29, the son of a local resident, Yulia Buyskikh, came to her home and found her dead. There was no doubt who killed her. Yulia Ivanovna Buiskikh turned 85 - she celebrated her birthday two months ago. The event was great - it was celebrated in a restaurant in Vyatskie Polyany. Yulia Ivanovn
a had a large family - many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took care of them all. Her granddaughter remembers that she spent her whole childhood in her grandmother's house and she told the children fairy tales - real folk tales. Despite the fact that in her old age Yulia Ivanovna could barely walk, she worked in her garden every summer - she made jam from berries and sent it to her relatives. She gave a gift to everyone who visited her. In general, she loved helping people
and always wanted to do so. This is what her granddaughter says: My grandmother had the need to help people. She could forget about herself and just help, sometimes without thinking that it would be hard for her, that it would be difficult for her. She would call me and say, "Anya, what's wrong? Is there anything I can help you with? Can I babysit?" Vyatskiye Polyany was a town where young people from the surrounding villages came to study at specialized secondary educational institutions. It wa
s often impossible to get home late at night - either the bus broke down or the road was covered in snow. In the 2000s there was no dormitory in Vyatskie Polyany, so teenagers stayed overnight at local residents' houses. Yulia Ivanovna felt sorry for the children and let them stay the night. One of these teenagers was Ivan Rossomakhin. I think she recognized him when he came to her. And she probably even let him in because she remembered that he stayed at her place. Maybe she thought he had come
, I don't know, to thank her for giving him a place to sleep, to have a cup of tea. I'm pretty sure she ran off to put the kettle on. Of course, no one would have thought her life would end that way. We don't know what really happened that day. Rossomakhin apparently remembered her address. Why did he actually go to her house? Did he want to rob her? Was he just drunk and then angry, as with his previous victim Tatiana Sapozhnikova? Whatever happened, we know the end. Some sources say that Rosom
akhin stabbed Yulia Buyskikh. Others say he hacked her to death with an axe. So he did exactly what one of the residents of Novyy Burets predicted at a meeting in the house of culture. He was arrested almost immediately. Video cameras installed at the neighbors' house recorded Rossomakhin going in and out of Yulia Buyskikh's house. A couple of days before his death, Yulia Ivanovna called to wish her great-grandson a happy birthday. She was very worried that he might be fit for military service.
She was afraid of what might happen to him in that case. Yulia Ivanovna was 7 years old when the Great Patriotic War was over. Several of her siblings died in those years, and she herself survived the worst famine in Central Russia. She didn't want to believe that the Russian army was bombing civilians in Ukraine. She watched television, then spoke to her granddaughter and complained: "I don't understand anything". She was firmly convinced of one thing: war is always bad. No matter what happens,
no one should kill anyone. But it was Putin's war that ultimately led to her death. Putin hypocritically talks about the glowing memory of the Great Patriotic War and how veterans should be taking care of. The attitude towards older people, a good attitude towards older people, characterizes the level of development of society....And that makes society more efficient. And it is very important to cultivate this feeling within yourself and pass it on to everyone around you But this story illustra
tes well what his words are really worth. He places no value on people's lives. He started a war with Ukraine - pointless and not needed by anyone. He sent prisoners to the front - people he had no compassion for. And now that they are coming back and threatening people all over Russia, he simply does not care. War maims everyone. You can survive it physically, but something inside you is irrevocably broken. Ivan Rossomakhin was already ill before he went to the front. After the months he spent
there, he was completely inadequate. He only needed a tiny amount of time to kill a person. Only 7 days after his return from the front, 5 of which he spent in custody. And he is not the only one. Putin's decree pardons thousands of prisoners, many of whom have committed terrible crimes. Now they are coming back - mutilated, broken, completely savaged after what they went through there. They have learned the lesson that human life is not valued by anyone. You can do whatever you want. Only now t
hey still have combat experience and sometimes weapons. Anyone who votes for Putin in this presidential election is voting for all this to continue. So that the war doesn't end, so that people die on both sides of the front - even those who are thousands of kilometers away and seemingly have nothing to do with the war. Putin killed Alexei Navalny, a man he couldn't defeat, and he did it because he was afraid of him. Alexei unites people and opposes the war. But even if Putin steals this election
- and we know that he'll - you have your own vote. Don't give your vote to a murderer. Alexei urged us to vote in this election. To go to the polling stations and vote for anyone except Putin. We have a clear instruction from Navalny on what to do, and I want to remind you. Go to the polling stations on March 17 at 12 noon and vote against Putin. I am sure you will meet some like-minded people. This is the safest way to express your protest. By the way, even if you were forced to vote earlier,
no one can stop you from going to the polling station on March 17. Send this video to people you know - those who support the war and those who have doubts. Send it to those who are devastated right now and do not know what to do. If you are ready to do more, read the description of the video to see what else you can do. We have a mission, Alexei left it to us, and we must fulfil it. Because no matter what happens, the most important thing is that we remain honest people and know that we have no
t helped Putin to stay in power with a single word, a single gesture or even by our silent non-participation. We have to do what our conscience tells us. 17 of March, 12 PM. Go to the polls and vote against him.
