Matale | Sembuwatta Lake | Sri Lanka | Travel VLOG#8

Today, the both of us came to Matale. We are in Matale right now So where exactly are we, Kasun? We were invited by a hotel to come visit some locations in Matale So here we are. Right now we have come to a small place where Chamari is going to try something for the first time. We don’t know what is going to happen. Whether we will be able to do any VLOGS after today or not… not sure what’ll happen. We came from the directions of Dambulla. On our way we have the NalandaGedige Temple, the Aluviha

raya Rock Temple and then we have a Hindu Temple to visit. That used to be the tallest Hindu Temple in Sri Lanka, but now they have built another one in Jaffna. Now that is the tallest Hindu Temple (Kovil) in Sri Lanka, the one in Jaffna, and before that it was the one in Matale. Okay so let’s go see them. Let’s go see what Chamari is going to do. f you are visiting from Colombo the distance is around 142 km while if you are coming from Kandy is about 25 km. So our next stop is the NalandaGedige Temple, which is located some 25 km from the Matale Town. The reason this temple is called ‘NalandaGedige’ is because the entire temple - from roof to the bottom – is completely made from stone. It was built around 1,300 years ago. The main specialty of this temple is the fact that it is situated in the exact middle of Sri Lanka. Next up we visite

d the Aluviharaya Rock Cave Temple, which is around 4 km away from the Matale Town. The Aluviharaya Temple is mostly famous because it is where the Tripiṭaka (philosophical doctrines of Buddhism) was transcribed. This Hindu Temple is located around one kilometer from the Matale Town. It was formerly the tallest Hindu Temple in Sri Lanka, but now we’ve been told that a taller one has been built in Jaffna and that it is currently the tallest Kovil in Sri Lanka. popular as a very colorful temple. Today, we are staying at the Grand Mountain Hotel in Matale. The rooms are very beautiful as you can see. Here we have a nice view. It’s beautiful isn’t it? Over there we have the kids play area where the both of us can play. It is very beautiful. When we were down too we saw it. I think what is special here is the garden which is very beautiful. It is a big garden where you can relax. They said there is a water fountain over there in the evening. Yeah we have

to go check that out and also we will show you how it is down there. We are hungry now aren’t we? Yeah we have to go for lunch now. We visited three places and we have been traveling since morning. We’re a little tired so we will eat and then show you this place. They said it is very beautiful in the night so we will see the hotel view in the night. Okay then bye. The next morning we woke up by 5.00am to go visit the Sembuwatta Lake. At exactly 5.30am we left in a vehicle arraigned for us by th

e hotel. Because we can see the beauty of the Sembuwatta Lake with the mistonly we leave early in the morning. Hi. Good morning. Now we are at the Elkaduwa Tea Factory on the way to the Sembuwatta Lake. Only after coming here did we get to know that they only start issuing tickets and open at 7.30 am. ounter is. Some of her friends have come. So until then let’s take some pictures. We are now at the Sembuwatta Lake. Vehicles are allowed to come all the way here. The ticket counter down below was opened at 7.30 am. There are a lot of activities here if you are coming. There are boat rides, you can travel by cables and then there are some huts over there where you can have lunch when you come with families or friends. Because if it gets any later we won’t be able to see anything due to the mist. It is very windy here. We have to go to the top and check the situation.
