New offerings in store for SLO International Film Festival's 30th anniversary

the time to appreciate Cinema on the Central Coast is fast approaching I'm Dylan Foreman your community reporter in San Louis abiso with the Palm Theater right here is one of the places you can go for the slow International Film Festival now in it's 30th year I looked into some of the growth and changes of the event now at 5 years with the festival templon native and executive director sky mclennen has seen firsthand of the festival has reached New Heights I've grown up with the film festival an
d to be able to Shepherd it into this anniversary year means uh the world this year they have skyrocketed to a total of 144 films up from the 125 they showcased last year as our as we grow as a festival and we've grown over the last 30 years people have come to known that we just have really high quality amazing films the local presence is greater than ever with more and more local filmmakers contributing to the film festival like Brookman Rowe who wrote and produced Harvest calls I think over t
he next four or five years you're going to see the growth of film making just on the Central Coast expand exponentially now the beautiful scenery of the Central Coast is catching the eye of outside filmmakers like the movie camera from director Bo Bridges who shot it all in Morrow Bay and all the filmmakers that come here to the slow International Film Festival are just really receptive to talking they're they love asking questions about this area and and vice versa I get to find out about what
these filmmakers are all about with its anniversary year there are some special offerings in addition to the always popular surf night highlighting surfing on the big screen the festival is offering a first ever skate night bringing the energy to Independent skating Cinema in honor of the anniversary year the festival is releasing a 30th anniversary series that will look at 30 Films selected from current and former members of the festival for those who can't make it there will be a Showcase of s
creenings from the festival the following week at Park Cinemas and Passa Robel we're really excited about also expanding the festival into other parts of the county the film festival goes from April 25th to the 30th here at the Palm Theater the Fremont Theater and the downtown movie Center Cinemas in St Louis abiso I'm Dylan Foreman kby news
