StadiumDB.com presents:
New Stadiums Opening in 2024 Hi,
Our tour of the world's stadiums continues in full swing. This time we present you with the
designs of the stadiums scheduled to open in 2024. We'll visit the Americas, wander into
Europe, make a stop in the Middle East and finally head to distant Asia.
So now without further ado, welcome aboard as we're off to see the stadium designs, due to
open in 2024!! Kansas City Current Stadium,
capacity: 11,500, Kansas City We begin our journey in
the Midwest of the United
States. It is here in the largest city of the state of Missouri that the country's first stadium
dedicated to a professional women's football team is under construction.
As we know, the Americans are a real powerhouse of world football,
and the league there is growing rapidly. The stadium will be compact
with two two-storey stands along the pitch and slightly
smaller ones behind the goals. Nuevo estadio de Herediano,
capacity: 12.000, Heredia We land in Central A
merica, where in the city
famous for the National University of Costa Rica, Heredia, a facility is being built for one of the
three most successful clubs in the country, CS Herediano. It is being constructed on the site of
its distinguished predecessor. The new arena is expected to meet all international standards. It
will feature retail spaces, VIP areas, men's and women's changing rooms, a museum, a
high-performance sports centre, a gym, an amphitheatre as well as press areas and a clinic
.
Mâs Monumental, capacity: 84 567, Buenos Aires It's time to visit the true mecca of football.
With a redevelopment underway from 2022, the Buenos Aires colossus is already the stadium
with the largest capacity in South America. The project involves removing the athletics track and
replacing it with additional stands in the lower part of the stadium. In addition, the facility
is to undergo a general makeover, including the installation of seats throughout the auditorium.
Besides this, new
skyboxes, a tunnel for the players and a sound system, among other things,
are to be built. The scale of the whole project is impressive!
Everton Stadium, capacity: 52,888, Liverpool We are moving to Europe, and we begin with the
UK. Everton's new stadium has been designed on the banks of the River Mersey,
in the Bramley-Moore dock, which was previously buried. The
building's openwork brick-clad facade is meant to loosely reference the architecture of the old
Goodison Park. The upper part, on
the other hand, is very modern - illuminated and transparent,
a little austere thanks to bare steel and showing the rhythmic structure of the stadium. The two
blocks also contrast in form - the bottom is square in plan, while the
top is angled and rounded at the ends. The interior of the stadium is also
interesting. The auditorium is divided into one, two or even three levels, depending on the stand.
Nieuw Cambuurstadion, capacity: 15 000, Leeuwarden
From the isles we head to the mainland. In
the Dutch city of Leeuwarden, a minimalist stadium
is being built with a simple structure, inside which the stands are enclosed with additional
semi-open spaces for various purposes. The building is intended to
have a closed form, despite the initially undeveloped corners. The Nieuw
Cambuurstadion is to be part of a much larger development, with a total of 70,000 m2 to
be dedicated to sports and entertainment. Visit Mallorca Estadi, capacity: 23 000, Palma
Once again we move to the islands,
but this time with a far more pleasant climate. Mallorca's
former athletics facility is being converted into a football-specific venue, but keeping the
stadium's current form. To achieve this, the lower ring of stands will be completely remodelled,
taking the place of the running track and acquiring a rectangular
shape to surround the pitch. The space left by the removed arches will be
taken up by additional usable space. Another important change will be the creation of a canopy
over the east
stand, similar to the one on the opposite side.
Stadion Miejski w Opolu, capacity: 11,600, Opole We are in Poland, where a facility is being built
for the local club Odra. The defining element of the stadium is a white,
light-transmitting membrane, the so-called "dress", which swings back
and greets the spectators, revealing part of the supporting facilities. Thanks to the curving
membrane, the structure is light, eye-catching and gives the impression of being lifted by the
wind. The chosen s
olution will allow for easy and effective illumination of the stadium at night.
The arena's auditorium will be raised about 1.5 metres above the pitch to provide all fans with a
good view of the entire pitch. Stadion Miejski w Katowicach,
capacity: 14,896, Katowice Time for a visit to Upper Silesia. The new stadium
for local club GKS is being built in the south of Katowice and will be combined with a sports
hall. Both venues will be set into a vast cuboid welcoming spectators with an elegant
colonnade.
Behind it will be a translucent wall of anodised aluminium profiles that take on the golden colours
of the club. The stadium's auditorium will be single-level with the possibility
of additional rows being added. Remember to leave a comment and to like
this material. A subscription would also be appreciated. Thanks!
Stadion Varna, capacity: 22,441, Varna The history of Varna's new representative
stadium dates back to 2006, when an impressive concept was presented, somewhat reminis
cent
of Cologne's RheinEnergie Stadion. That plan was never realised, but it was slightly scaled
down and began to be implemented in 2015. The stadium will also be symmetrical,
in the same spatial layout as the one from 2006. But no longer
with an auditorium for 30,000, but 22,000 (although with an option
to expand to 28,000). Instead of four covered stands,
only three will be roofed. Sabah Al Salem University City Stadium,
capacity: 15 000, Al-Shadadiya We are leaving Europe, but before h
eading to
East Asia we make a brief stop on the Persian Gulf. Kuwait's stadium project
is very futuristic. The facility is being built as part of the country's
largest education project. The entire complex for 40,000-50,000 students is being constructed in
the south-east of the metropolis, with the sports and leisure section covering more than 600
hectares! The stadium is inspired by the wings of a pigeon, imitated by the roof: two arches set
high and a partially transparent membrane. Thanks t
o its arches, the stadium will be the tallest
building on the entire campus. Yellow River Sports Centre
Stadium, capacity: 61 000, Jinan As announced, we are landing in China, where
the number of state-of-the-art facilities being built in recent years is
dizzying. The stadium in Jinan will be a large, football-specific arena that
meets all FIFA requirements. It is being built together with an entire sports complex. Once
completed, the facility is to be hosted by Shandong Taishan FC, a team th
at plays in the
Chinese Super League on a regular basis. The sports centre will be built near the Huang He
River and will cover an area of 63 hectares. Its design concept is derived from the nine bends of
the Yellow River. Shenzhen Sports Centre Stadium,
capacity: 45,000, Shenzhen The new stadium is under construction on the
site of the previous Shenzhen Stadium, this time without the athletics track. A large arena with a
retractable roof is also part of the concept. The designers focused on
transforming the area
around the stadium into a lush environment, with the maximum number of trees to surround the site
and highlight the surrounding buildings. The sports centre is set to become a green corridor
for the city. Those Chinese are something else! Kai Tak Sports Park Main Stadium,
capacity: 50 000, Hong Kong We move to Hong Kong, where the largest stadium
in the city is being built on the site of the former airport. Alongside the
main, football-specific arena, an entire comple
x is being
developed, which will include a smaller athletics stadium with a capacity of 5 000 spectators and
an indoor arena for 10 000 people. The stadium is designed as a very compact and completely
enclosed structure, with a retractable roof to protect local residents
from noise. The colourfully shimmering façade is meant to evoke the 'Pearl
of the Orient', as Hong Kong is sometimes called.
PEACE STADIUM Connected by SoftBank,
capacity: 20 000, Nagasaki The last country we will visit is Ja
pan, where
two stadiums are under construction. The first is being built in Nagasaki and is to be part of a
comprehensive revitalisation of the Urakami River waterfront. A state-of-the-art football stadium
for the V-Varen team, which played in the J1 League for the first time in 2018, will stand
between other buildings. The designed two-storey auditorium had to be compact, as the facility will
be built diagonally across the plot to fit on an east-west axis. The arena has already
managed to
get a title sponsor. Hiroshima Peace Stadium,
capacity: 30 000, Hiroshima The main aim of the project is to develop a
'stadium park' centred around a modern football facility and recreational space, in the centre
of Hiroshima. The arena's design includes, among other things, a food and beverage area on the
fourth floor overlooking the city skyline, a VIP lounge with modern Japanese décor, a multi-purpose
lobby that will be used on a daily basis, a tunnel-view area from which club members c
an
watch the players enter the pitch, and a single-level south stand for home fans. And that's the last venue we visited on our
trip. Be sure to let us know in the comments which stadium you are most looking forward
to seeing completed. In the meantime, we are already starting to plan our next adventure.
See you on the stadium trail!

I don’t mind small capacity (15000 at least) stadium. The important is the quality of the pitch and hospitality around them.
