Christine initially only short clips of the depuy's bodyw warn camera video was released but today full Clips unedited clips from the perspective of two deputies um it shows the moment that 15-year-old Ryan Gainer who is autistic came at a deputy with a gardening ho take a look where is he at hey get back get back you're getting shot as you see there he ran towards the deputy despite the warnings to stop still photos from the bad body cam video shows how close the team came to the deputy before
three rounds were shot the preliminary investigation suggests both deputies fired the sheriff said the only thing edited out of the video was a couple of audio drops to protect the investigation but he does say that the deputies seem to follow protocol that um in this circumstance whether we knew didn't know had the best resources available to us this is a reactionary time and if we're looking at this in the scope of being a human being and what they're trained for the deputies followed through
with what their training Protocols are there had been other occasions where the family had reached out to the sheriff's department and the sheriff's department followed their training uh which is they de escalated incidents where they had made encounters or contacts with Ryan that's do it Lacy the Gainer family attorney who talked to Fox 11even News last night he has not commented on the news conference today but he did point out that the deputies were well aware of Ryan Gainer that the family o
ften times had called the Sheriff's Department in order to get help for Ryan um right now Shannon dyus just says that this is just another example of how the social network as he called it needs to be fixed and that people like Ryan Gainer who may be having mental health issues ongoing need to be treated and held perhaps so that they can't be a danger to himself or to his family the investigation continues on this and because it is a deputy involves shooting then the State doj Department of Just
ice will do it its own independent investigation as well

@neckarsulme

Not sure why people call police on an aggressive, out of control family member, and then are surprised when the cops protect themselves

@bubbagasm1

Hold on, you mean people judged the officers before seeing the full video, and knowing what happened? That doesn't sound like people on the internet at all.

@VeteranGamerDad4Christ

so wait, the family cant handle their child so they called the cops ? why not get him into a facility, medication, half-way house ? what if he had hit one of their family with that still gonna sue the cops cause they didnt stop him fast enough ?

@JDog_Unchained

Autistic or not, there's only so much you can do to deescalate a situation when someone is charging you with a weapon.

@shellysmith1037

no problem with police on this. Basic stuff, don't attack cops

@user-jc7jb3bu5s

Defending themselves. it's on video.

@champboehm7863

Why we all acting like lawyers? Shits sad on both ends, for the kid and for the cop. Stop proving points and have some class.

@krystaldaniels7940

My heart goes out to the family AND the officers involved. Being forced to shoot and kill a kid, let alone a mentally challenged kid, is something that will replay in their minds forever.

@Quipson

You can see it on his face, anger issues got the guy killed, not autism.

@rogerpaquette109

Clearly a mental health issue here but facts are facts...you DONT get at cops with a weapon whithout getting shot. The hatred and anger in this boys face...scary

@cicero9978

Cop had almost no time to even react. Situation looks exactly like a jump scare from Resident Evil game smh

@monicahavens1404

The look on his face says it all Ryan was out of control

@raymondsvt6791

Was the officer supposed to stand and get hit with the shovel ? And police officer regret it after he got his head smashed in ? I don’t even understand how people are feeling this is the officers fault he literally defended himself

@Malignus68

Justified.

@johnbaran577

When you call the cops you shouldn’t be shocked when someone ends up shot

@bradbassett1240

They should have called Susan Hirasuna to come deal with this kid. She apparently would know how to resolve this situation.

@The8Don

Just another example of how parents shift parenting responsibility to the government

@samwheat8348

The children are getting younger and younger with mental health issues. I don’t remember the 1990s being like this.

@steveryono1112

the family lawyered up pretty quickly...the family should bear total responsibility...not the sheriffs...

@harryvarner6652

The family be want money. Call a lawyer, we be want money!
