So I just shot my first ever Interview Scene today. I’m about to film a mini documentary about my friend Timo and his passion for cars he - yeah he really likes cars. This is the log footage and this is the final image I asked you on Instagram if you want to see a breakdown - all my 66 thousand followers said yes so let’s break it down. aah yeah so I’ve pulled up with my chick at his garage. He was late, like always. This is Karolin sippin coffee. Then he pulled up in an ugly ass grey bmw. We pu
t the Amaran 200X on a tripod. Setup my camera which is a Canon R5 with a 24-70 2.8, black pro mist from velium to get that filmic glow in the highlights. Ninja V+ on top recording in 4K ProRes 422, C-Log 3. I wanted to add some practical light to the scene, had these small LED tubes from a cheap china brand I don’t know how to pronounce it - weeeylite - but don’t buy them the battery sucks and they didn’t sponsor this video so fuck weeylite. My plan was to fill up the garage with some haze but
then I forgot to do so. I had my new super tiny fog machine with me from a brand which I also don’t want to mention because they also didn’t sponsor this video so fuck them too. Okay Timo sits down I hit record on the atomos. Then we setup a new camera angle to give it some more depth..He talked 18 minutes straight. I slapped one of my Film Emulation LUTs on top because I’m too lazy to color grade this manually then used the De-Hancer Plug-in for Final Cut Pro to add some film emulation effects
like Halation, Bloom and Film Grain to the footage. You can watch the final documentary in about 3 weeks on Timos channel, I will let you know when it’s up on my instagram stories. Follow me. Or don’t. That’s it thanks for watching. Bye.

If this was too fast (and not really informative I guess 🥲), here are some Videos from Danny Gervitz, Jacob Banta and Aputure that really explain the process and teach you how to do it the right way:

@Drewxcifer

Love this style, everything has become too polished and brand friendly, camera channels lack originality and personality and they all feel like they are nothing more than a sponsored money grab.thanks for the breath of fresh air. I’ll be following in your footsteps.

@RonellCross

The tutorial is legit, but I subscribed for the commentary. haha!
