Slim Goes ELECTRIC in Arizona! 2024 Road Trip Part 12

With the popularity of electric vehicles on the rise, I decide to try one for myself. I also re-visit Saddle Mountain after a 5 year absence and do a little rock scrambling. CORRECTION: Whoops, my mistake! The battery is 48V, not 18V. The charger uses even more power 54.6 Volts. nice to be back in familiar territory a little dusty but it still works now this brings back memories Saddle Mountain I've been here at least a couple of  times this is where I met uh Danny and her runaway great location near Phoenix I already did a video of it but it's a good old standby so I can relax for a couple of days well today I'm going to leave the  little camper all by its lonesome as uh I got to Brave the freeways and go into Phoenix today something special to pick up well I know I so
rt of didn't  like Houston's traffic well I'm not crazy about Phoenix either I'm kind of stuck in gridlock again but the traffic did improve when I got north of the I 10 I made it back to Camp by early afternoon so people have been asking me  when are you going to go electric? today's the day my new electric ebike cool huh? so here's what I got it's made by "Lectric" a company based right here in Phoenix Arizona it's the XP 3.0 model long range which means it's got a slightly bigger battery tha
n the standard and it can go up to 65 Miles on a single charge to me it's like a regular mountain bike with the bonus that it can also go electric as well now I really don't know anything about it I did go to the showroom I looked around I wheeled and dealed I got an influencer discount but I did pay for it folds up of course that's how it was  in the the cab in my truck um there's lots of accessories I also bought I haven't put them on  yet because I have to do my first test so let's do it righ
t now turn it on and and make sure that I don't have it too fast it goes up to five speeds uh assisting speeds I guess you'd  call it but I'm putting it number one I'm a beginner take the kickstand off oh! of course yeah I know you're going to point it out to me anyway right? helmet okay now I won't kill myself okay so one two three here we go lots of bumps here whoa!!! well that was fun and I think I graduated from the School of Hard Knocks there's my tattoo for a quick light meal I pan  fried
a mix of carrots brussle Sprouts snow peas kale and cabbage and smothered it with lots of hoisen sauce healthy and tasty Saddle Mountain offers some  beautiful rugged scenery along with being a free BLM Campground there's also a few petroglyphs on an easy walking trail and don't forget to visit the Labyrinth March is a great month to visit as the flowers start to appear but I had my eyes on a nearby Mountain that had a hole in the side well I've been looking at  those mountains for a couple of d
ays now I got to see what's up there and although it's hot and sunny there's no way I can wear a jacket so I just  put on tons of sunscreen and my hat you need to be careful walking  around here as there's lots of rocks on the ground and lots of spiny cactus now I've been used to the deserts being brown lately but this one's green I think spring is finally in the air and I see uh see these flowers here so that's definitely a sign of spring and I've seen hummingbirds as well so for all you up in
the north that have been suffering through winter spring is in the air it'll be up your way believe me now one comment I keep getting is aren't you worried about snakes and no I'm not worried about snakes I do have my hard hiking boots  on and uh I also am wearing my jeans but I have never ever seen a snake in the Arizona or New  Mexico desert before April takes a long period of hot weather before they come out of dormancy but I am on the lookout believe me whoa I'm more concerned about walking
on these rocks while I'm holding a camera than I am for snakes but I am on a lookout at first glance this looked like a snake but it was just a little  lizard doing his little lizard dance oh boy got to catch my breath I saw a cave from down by where  my campsite is and I think it's around this corner can't be sure it's  hard to get perspective when you're up here see if I can find it oh is that it? not sure I don't know if that's it or  not right here but I'm going to look no this isn't the one
and I'm not crawling  up there but uh I guess it's just not very accessible that's okay I'm not out here  to kill myself I'm out here to enjoy life well I haven't given up yet I think I  found another way up at least it's going a little higher the last one it uh sort  of up came came up against a big boulder so I couldn't go any further but this way looks like a I'm getting somewhere I'm going up looking good actually looking gorgeous ah maybe that's the a little  crack in the Rocks I was looki
ng for oh boy time for a break I need to catch my breath okay I'm going to go for it well hold on there that might be a cave well looky there found a little pocket cave  at least with a nice view and there's also something else here garbage I mean what kind of idiot  who has the intelligence to be able to climb a mountain and Hike not know what you  bring in you pack out and it's like a big Slurpee come on! I'll do it for them but for now I just want to enjoy The View well I think there might be
a way to the  top but I don't know if I can film it or if I can even make it so I'm going to go a bit at a time see if I can make the peak it's the camera that's pain in the butt okay oh yeah made it I'm on the top and I'm sweaty what a view! okay that was fun time to get off this mountain it was great I had a chance to use my climbing skills but what really needed work were my biking skills well now that I've taken it  for a spin I know a lot more  about it about it first of all you don't have
to  Pedal there's actually a throttle like this just like a motorcycle however if you  use it throttle only you're going to use up your battery a lot quicker the 1000 watt peak Motor has 55 Newton M of torque which is pretty powerful but you'll still have to  pedal on uphill climbs as the motor needs a little more assistance I would not want any  more than three-speed myself I'm happy with 1 two and three but it does go up to five you'd have to be especially here with so many rocks you'd have t
o be really skilled to be able to want to go any higher than that but everybody's different there are seven gears in the back and you change those right up here that goes up bring them back for bumps there's  adjustable front fork suspension as well as additional suspension under the seat the knobby tires are 3-in diameter and puncture resistant the pedals fold up for storage and with the fenders and rear bike rack included the total weight of the bicycle is 64 lbs now there is one thing I'm not
super super crazy about but apparently it's the same with all electric bikes and that is how you charge it there's a little pull tab right here and that reveals the inlet this is the charger and one end goes into the bike but it's the other end I have a problem with there is only 120 volt AC there is no 12v DC version because I think the battery is like 18 volts so what I have to do is use my jackery and plug it in that way so I'm using an inverter is what I'm doing I mean if you're using it fr
om your home that's not a big deal but if you're out on the  road and you've only got 12v DC you're going to have to have an inverter to charge it and I just want to show you how much it actually is charging right now it's saying 107 Watts it's pretty stable like that and I know I've used quite a bit of the battery in the last little while I got to I expect  I don't know for sure but I'm pretty sure I got to have a full charge on my uh 500 W uh jackery to charge this but I I charge it while I'm
driving you can probably try uh charge this in your car as well but uh I don't think I'm going to do that I think it's too high a wattage that uh I might have problems with my fuses now I know there's a lot more features I haven't even discovered so I definitely recommend going to lectricebikes.com Check out their website you'll see all the models, the prices, the features for me I'm just happy I got this I think it'll be a great accessory to my travels and uh I just got to learn how to  use it
it's going to take me a while uh that's it for the bike today not only is it getting cooler but it might actually rain so uh put it in the back seat uh I really like that it fits in the in the cab of the truck I don't have to put it in the back more secure there but I think it's going to be a real good addition to my travels but I think I'm also going to be heading out in the in the morning rain or not I uh got all I need here time to move on and I don't have any fancy meals unfortunately I've
been doing too much  you know the bike and the hike and everything else mac and cheese and veggie dogs  of course just before the storm's going to hit although the rain poured down just a mile away it stopped before Saddle  Mountain and let the sun put on a show instead with the sun asleep the bats took to the air and it was time for another  kind of light show and with a flashlight  in hand I tried my own Creations I hope you enjoyed  this video check out my others as well
