weekend is the Springfield Sportsman Show which will once again be at the Eastern State's Exposition Fairgrounds and a whole lot of vendors are taking part with the event just now getting underway western Mass news reporter Matt price was in West Springfield and has what you can expect a mega event is kicking off a new year of outdoor fun inside the Better Living Center at the eastern states Exposition in West Springfield hundreds of vendors are showing off their gear and even issuing hunting li
censes at the Springfield Sportsman Show western Mass news spoke with show promoter Doug Susa who says the event has been around for about 40 years we have a number of different things it's hunting and fishing so we have a lot of folks that are selling fishing trips or hunting trips uh we also have uh general interest things we have a lot of things for the family to do from taxidermy to Big Fish it is the perfect opportunity for people of all ages to learn about the outdoors among the vendors is
the Massachusetts division of fisheries and wildlife where we found angler education coordinator James Legacy providing information on hunting and fishing and Wildlife artifacts as well he especially wants to make sure new sportsmen are on the right path buy a license first you need to have a license if you're 15 and older um be safe so if you're going to do it take a hunter education class to be safe to learn how to do it you need it to hunt another thing people could do at the show is they ca
n set their eyes on the big bucks no I'm not talking about money I'm talking about these big bucks courtesy of the Northeast big buck Club it's made up of deer hunters that are interested in protecting preserving and promoting hunting and other Outdoor Sports since 1996 the club has been one of the events longest running vendors showing off some of the biggest bucks in the nine Northeast States President Sean humph says the reason why they attend every year is because it is about conservation an
d raising money for a good cause what our uh scholarship is about is to give back to folks that are going into a natural resource conservation uh Wildlife so we give scholarships for that white tail and bear are among the hunting Sports being displayed Susa tells us two of the end goals is for people to broaden their interests and create Community people uh get to come out and enjoy themselves see their sport maybe pick up some lures or or meet somebody and talk the Springfield Sportsman Show co
