St. Patrick's Day events with Harris-Grieco Irish Dancers

welcome back 5 45 here on Daybreak and this morning we are celebrating St Patrick's Day right here in Western New York and what better way to celebrate than with some Irish dancers it's tradition right that's where we find day breaks Lauren Hall this morning hi Lauren you're live in Williamsville with the Harris Greco Academy of Iris dance good morning yes good morning we are happy St Patrick's Day we're going to introduce you to all the dancers before they go so what's your name friend Sophia S

ophia Reagan Reagan Juliet Juliet Adelaide Adelaide Lorelei Lorelei and their teachers Miss Rachel okay so they're gonna perform for us a little bit and tell us about your Academy because this is one of the newest Irish dance groups in Western New York it is yeah we just started we opened up in 2021 and we've been just building and building ever since and you have a really busy weekend ahead starting now starting now yes they actually had a bunch of shows yesterday at some schools we have about

13 to 15 shows today and we'll be rolling all the way through the weekend to the parade and how do you keep track of it all and keep track of all the dancers and where they're supposed to be and making it to all these shows honestly the parents are God's end they really do they they help us keep a calendar together and they get the kids wherever they need to be and as we can hear from your accent probably play you are an authentic Irish dance teacher yes Rachel Jeff yes I was uh actually born in

England to Irish parents but um yeah my um lived in Ireland moved over here just about 10 years ago when yeah and I asked you before is is the Irish dance scene in Buffalo on St Patrick's Day how does it compare to Ireland yes it's it's a lot bigger um but a lot more organized when we were kids it was just get out there and dance wherever you can find now we actually have some structure and people embrace it here and it's it's it's lovely to see yeah and the girls are getting ready to dance in

the parade on Sunday as well yes yeah we'll have some dancers up on the float and we'll have a lot of dancers following behind we're super excited to have everyone together and we we have the link on our website to your Facebook page which has all of the performances starting this afternoon running all the way through Sunday you can find more there and we're gonna have some more dancers join us next hour as well here on Daybreak but for now we will send it back to you in studio Melissa and Heath
