George Trump got the money he posted the $175 million bond in the fraud case got a couple days to spare this is obviously the reduced amount he couldn't maybe he couldn't supposedly he couldn't post the 464 but now he's got it what's your reaction it's good that's a good thing I think a lot of people reacted negatively to the reduction in the bond but I think that's based on a misapprehension a misunderstanding of what the purpose of an appet bond is the purpose of an appet bond is to protect th
e Judgment holder the person who won the Judgment in the court below if there had been no bond because it was simply too large to post then the the state of New York would have had no protection and would have had to go out and seize assets which is something that really is a a very very difficult task and a very very costly task so the people the taxpayers of the state of New York should be glad that the court reduced the bond enabling the court to enabling Trump to be able to post the bond tha
t would mean that once the appeal is over and the State wins the appeal they automatically get um the 175 million assuming the State wins the appeal chrisy let's talk about that now he can appeal how's that going to go well one good thing that came from this is that there's going to be an expedited appeal now these things move slowly but this will I an expedited in in in the justice system terms it will be expedited meaning that we're going to see this process start in the fall um you know look
I don't think he has a leg to stand on on as to the appeal this was a very detailed decision by uh by judge engoron that was based in fact in his credibility findings of all of the witnesses um you know I really I I don't see that there and you also had defense experts that were found to be unreliable and really didn't put up much of a fight on the core legal issues here so you know when it comes to factual disputes really that's where the Appellate judges tend to stay away and this is such a fa
ct-based inquiry here that I think it should stand up on a f well let's talk about the leg that he is standing on because he's using it to kick I want to talk about Judge meran in the hush money case now basically being forced to expand his gag order to protect his own family and other people and family members involved in this case what do you think of the judge's decision and just sort of where we are well where we are is we're two weeks from trial and so you have to figure you know being a fo
rmer prosecutor myself two weeks before trial Alvin Bragg and his team are meeting with witnesses to try to prepare for this trial and keep their eye on the ball um and these Witnesses are coming in and saying this judge can't protect his own daughter how is how how am I going to be protected what what am I subjecting myself and my family to and there is that push back that is happening that that Alvin brag details in his brief about why this gag Gordon needs to be expanded because the judge nee
d to show that he can administer this trial in a way that has Integrity in the way that people feel protected and they're not scared and they're not motivated by fear not to do their civic duty and so that is very clear in this order the judge is saying this isn't really about me this is about my responsibility to everybody in this trial to make sure that people can do their Duty and protect themselves but Donald Trump's lawyers here this is about a strategy that's not just delay we've talked ab
out that this has now distract distract the prosecutors they don't want to be worrying about this kind of briefing two weeks before they want to prepare their case distract them with all of this nonsense and disrupt the trial make the jurors afraid these make the witnesses make people afraid to do what they need to do to administer Justice George we actually have have a quote from this expanded gag order that I want to share where he writes it is no longer just a mere possibility or reasonable l
ikelihood that there exists a threat threat is real what is your take is this expanding order even enough to deal with that threat it may not be because Donald Trump is a sociopath he's a psychopath nothing will stop him from trying to do what he wants to do which is to intimidate and roll over and and attack anybody he feels is a threat to him and he is feeling that threat more than ever from all different fronts and I it's quite possible this may not be enough I mean he is a very very destruct
ive individual ual he is mentally ill he is very self-destructive in particular as we saw with the eege Carol trial where he basically he acted out in front of the jury and and basically bought himself the punitive damages award that he had to post his 88 million $83 million bond for this is this man isn't well and he's going to continue to behave in an irrational fashion and in a bullying fashion and in a threatening fashion because that is that's just the way he's built and it's not you know i
t's not part of some Grand strategy do you worry that it's working right if you were a potential juror if you were a witness I don't know it it it might affect you it it could but again I think that's the reason why you have to have protections of you have to have jury and anonymity as judge Kaplan did in the egene Carol Case and you have to have strong people in the Judiciary particularly this judge judge mchan who is a noons and very tough judge who is not going to take this and I think that y
ou know these these people are showing the world that you can stand up to Donald Trump and that's what the justice system is has been doing it's been a little slow it's slow going the justice justice takes time but I think finally we're beginning to see that that people can stand up to Donald Trump when it when it when it comes down to Donald Trump versus the law and Versus Society well Society better win and that's that's what this is about this is about whether one man can argate to himself th
e rules of the game and control the rules of the game and and and and completely destroy and undermine the rule of law and Justice Maran judge Maran here is saying no that's not how this works and I think we all need to stick up for the court and the court system and the prosecutors and and and you know second this and and support this because this he's Donald Trump is threatening the entire judicial process and the entire legal system just for his own personal benefit Society better win but the
Biden White House is kind of making the argument what if they don't AAA in response to Donald Trump's post over the weekend that included that image of President Biden tied up in the back of a truck the Biden campaign said Donald Trump is now regularly inciting political violence and it is time for people to take this seriously how's the White House dealing with it well on the campaign side we saw the Biden campaign today hold a press conference at the DNC headquarters directly addressing this
with two police officers who were at January 6 and this is really a strategy that we've seen them use time and time again to really Center democracy in their fight for 2024 and this is something I think we're going to continue to hear and particularly because Biden voters continue to say they are voting more against Trump than they are for Biden I think this is something that they're continuing to use the more that they talk about Trump the more that they're hoping to pull in some members of the
ir Coalition who are right now threatening to stay home who are worried about the state of the economy and this is exactly the kind of stakes that they're trying to lay out George can we just put into perspective that we cannot look at this election like two peers running against one another right the former president posting an image of the current president tied up and what does team Trump do they dismiss it as no biggie you've got a judge's daughter now being threatened and team Trump is like
ah this is just the way it goes how far have we devolved right we we've devolved a lot because this has become the threat to our society is not just Donald Trump but the normalization of his behavior and I and I have to commend uh the Biden campaign and the Administration for basically we have to go right they have to go right after this and say this man is sick or to quote what apparently the president said about Donald Trump a few weeks ago he is a sick puppy he is an unwell man he is mentall
y ill he is not somebody you want in any position of power and he is getting worse you can see his conduct he is getting absolutely worse as the doors and as as the walls close in around him and we have to and that's that's the the the Press can't walk away from that either the Press has to point this out this is sickness and it is madness and I think at the end of the day people are going to reject that I hope Christie I want to talk about the hush money trial because it starts later this month
hopefully and a source tells NBC news that former White House communications director hope hick is expected to testify before excuse me for the prosecution people are all excited about it but just because she's going to testify does not mean she's going to say anything and if history is a guide hope Hicks is an absolute expert at standing next to Donald Trump and saying absolutely nothing that is true uh look but the prosecution is calling her right so they have to think there is something of v
alue that she adds to the case and one element in particular she had a phone call that she was on with Donald Trump and with Michael Cohen uh right around the maybe a day or so after the Access Hollywood tape and so they may be calling her to say Donald Trump was worried about how that Access Hollywood tape would affect the campaign he cared about that and so this idea that you know what Donald Trump's defense is is these these hush money payments they really had nothing to do with the campaign
this was more about Melania and protecting my family and my reputation hope Hi Hicks may be able to say actually he cared a lot about how these things would affect the campaign and that's an important element that the state needs to prove at this trial or George for the state is Hope Hicks there to to show that Michael Cohen's not full of it because we know that Donald Trump's team is going to paint Michael Cohen in the worst light possible and it'll make it tricky if Hope's in the seat and is f
orced to say uh yeah Michael's right yeah absolutely right I mean I I agree with what chrisy just said I mean this this is testimony we don't know exactly how good or how strong it is but the fact of the matter is they hauled they hauled uh hope Hicks before the grand jury for a couple of days at least and they know she her story is locked in they know what she is going to say they've asked her all the questions no doubt that they they could anyone could expect to ask her and it must obviously o
r they wouldn't be putting her on it must corroborate their story and corroborates uh Michael Cohen corroborates the documents which I think of the most powerful evidence against Trump and um so I I think her testimony not be a bombshell in and of itself I don't know we we we'll we'll have to wait for the trial to see but you know the cooperation is what prosecutors need to get a verdict Beyond A Reasonable Doubt hey everyone MSNBC has a new and improved app you'll get realtime alerts and Analys

The state of New York needs protection, what a joke.

@imjustthere9343

At this point our politics is a drama show.

@queazy03

The gag order so Trump doesn't point out the judge has an activist daughter & should be recused?

@freehaven-junprince2376

Americans need to understand that this election isn’t red vs blue anymore. This is sanity in the real world with policies you may or may not agree with vs a complete departure from reality.

@medic1073

Witnessing the systematic dismantling of our system of justice and the Rule of Law is hard to watch.

@paulcousino8773

THE SO CALLED NEWSCASTERS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES!!!

@user-tm4pz3we6w

There is one political party that doesn't care about the First Amendment, the Second Amendment, and the 8th Amendment.

@aprilpryor2332

I know people who have lost their children, wives and careers over their inability to post bond. There are documented cases of people losing their lives while incarcerated due to inability to pay bonds. Why should any of us take our justice system seriously?

@GRANITEMONUMENT

George is in no way a “conservative lawyer” ,

@GRANITEMONUMENT

Wait it’s weird the prosecutor LJ was a high ranking board member of the Irish club that intentionally over valued their property to secure a PRIVATE LOAN in which the lender only had their statements to value the property!! They claimed the building had “AIR RIGHTS” which is extremely valuable in New York, and all the while it had no such rights in place…

@jmichaelrice2

Hopefully he sues them all for defamation.

@Drengr-Wulf

Everything they try against Trump falls through. The fact the TDS crowd still thinks theres a chance in Hel they can stop Trump is jus laughable 😂😂

@todgr81

It's gotten to the point now where I don't believe a word from MSNBC.

@milesslack8513

It's got to be the worst news program ever

@josephdussault9475

Yeah because they can talk all the crap they want but he can't say anything that might expose the corruption

@GigalassII

Not even about politics anymore, it's filtering out those who can't distinguish reality

@eleventythymes8360

MSNBC should bring back Mehdi Hasan. Canceling him was a huge mistake.

@truzar100

Once it goes to the supreme court, he gets off scot-free, waste of time

@GGable

It's so easy to tell who the bad guys are these days if you're stopping somebody else from there right of speech, you are the bad guy.

@faj010

And how's Hunter Biden?!
