V. ROCKET INTERNATIONAL

in central england's midlands region lies the small bustling city of nottingham historically known for its role in the legend of robin hood it's the lace marking area which was once the epicenter of the world's lace industry and the home of nottingham forest fc one of the oldest football clubs in the world nottingham is also the birthplace of one of the uk's legendary sound system the mighty v rocket international ruben under monday and parliament mondays [Music] people know anytime we rocket un
sucks and vocal dance have a nice v-rocket is a bonafide phenomenal sound system [Music] v rocket sound system was founded by spanish town natives mr doogie and his wife miss imogen robinson who like many jamaicans migrated to the uk during the windrush era it all started with a small 50 watt component system now me and value came over to join the family in 1966. and um that's here england won the world cup i think and um yeah becoming an environment which was different tobacco we get so my mom
and dad used to cook fair you know the peers in the in the sentence area because um there was no restaurant as such the black community so my mom used to provide that kind of service anywhere amongst that my dad had a little 50 watt zone i would call its own system i have a local 51 thing i go on where entertainment comes gathering every now and then then them dears [Music] black people now in a club forgot so it was warm entertainment scene so for the local community they used to cook food from
those and sell local community random go and play them domino and gamble on them someday a weekend horse party blues party not just another also alfred street but different parts are not enough street and union we would have them please then so they saw the foundation start my parents used to listen to a song v rocket back in the days and i feed them young days at jamaica [Music] so as as young people so when them start the sauna rest in peace messiah muamma sadogi it was a no-brainer for them
them just near me time for the song where them used to listen to back home as mr doogie sought help to build up v rocket international he was introduced to another spanish town native who was a master in his field master amplifier builder the legendary legs the giant he was looking an amplifier and somebody told him about me so he came to the house i will become friends because he was from spanish town i used to live in spanish town you know back home so we come together really but the second am
p i made for doggy was 600 what wasn't five i don't tell nobody because one thing you never do in sound system you never tell [Music] people like what you got because they can beat you once a man knows what what you got he can counteract it because he can go and build bigger amplifiers on you but when he doesn't know you don't know he don't know what to you know and you can't come to me and said to me i want you to build what do you have now you tell me what you want you know and i'll be the way
you're asking to make but i'm not gonna tell you anybody that comes to me and asked me i wouldn't tell you what i built for duke i like because that's his business yeah i created the b rocket don't forget you know so anything that v rocket does it's interesting because i know when i know b rocket before they know anything about sound system therefore they know about sound system [Music] as v rocket continued to develop across the town there were two brothers who had started their own youth soun
d system called dub city the two brothers would later become the front runners on v rocket who would take the sound system to a higher dimension [Music] phone system and when i we have a little clash i think i was um the mfm center found monsieur and we have a local cache with three racket and dope city uh no other thing and if they have a bigger song who knows tuesday night you know this in dub city but we never built someone yet today we did have a base up there which we were kind of lucky tha
t was a youth center but going back to when we did first meet beefy and bernie yeah forever beef and bernie me i always remember them playing v rocket sound system reuben also known as beefy was a natural-born selector who had a genuine love for the music he was a class act and a fearless warrior in the dancehall arena yeah i really i look for music from a really early year from about six years ago and always used to play my dad all my older brothers music after they finished playing them and th
at went on for years we built a little song and called it dub city we had a load of energy and fives with the friends and crews around it and um it just went from there to where we i heard the rocket play one day coming from school i dropped larry off at hero after them they were testing the sound and i never heard nothing like it they are tunnel explaining their treble and mid so it sounded sweet it sounded booming heavy beat bass first time i kind of got the feel of dance or bass line a couple
years went on and then we and varying ranking and most of the robertson family came together started to move together as a crew and [Music] in the long run we took it over from bob's era that's various big brother it was handed down from him well really the old man mr doogie handed it down to me on my brother i said you know he took directions from me and the brother wherever he was to go with it and mr doogie you know preston saw you know soldier [Music] parliament also known as bernie was a m
aster sound engineer who took great pride in producing excellent sound quality and delivering devastating power that toppled many of v rockets opponents my rule with the song v rocket international was the sound technician an engineer when me first going and i was the person who makes sure everything are clear right kaya simi zamano if my sauna player writing on nugget travel we have to get to the bottom of it and whatever it takes we have to get to the bottom of it seeing so i had a lot of expe
rience in fall finding alongside the technicians that i work with coming up as a young man going back to the beginning let me say the great carl enough people call him legs the giant yeah i used to teach him things you know because first of all i make this sound i like to hear the song play a certain way and if he's not doing it right i'll go to him and i'll tell him i said bernie that's the way that's not the way you do it man you know and get around with him like that and come on and tweet the
preamp tool please i'm booming just see everything lift up i may say okay my general the boss let me say that you can't do them there man who killed in let me a some rugged training when we go to the alvaro rule man you know and sleep up you know you see the next deer in in the roof to me you know but ima sure may say let me get some good teaching oh i thought was one week ago i would play all right the next week we got and the song dropped up we used to play together like we can remember a cla
sh with our red wine we handed player a few times we hurt them never said that we were at themselves ma always break no that wasn't a problem and you danced and got them always great yeah i'm starting off i pray and everything but at night in the early days still doing that night something else go wrong soon so if something goes wrong you just take liberty and it was a turn you know whiskey and one night my work my work at the casino i'm here keeping a big cluster let's start with two of the mos
t devastating songs queer city a mafia tone the dance was at the famous nightclub the raqqa's club leicester and during the dance day it was queer cassity international and the open coming detrimental stuff for jama fairtoon and we going panda dance before we even before framingham go panda flyers them say we are underdogs so we know we then are going to go be top non body but we say you know what they could have fling the two tune and we have i'm clear with someone you know that night so system
wise quicker give you a lesson and he was using his sound tobacco mafia tone because he had the big clean crisp sound but quakers didn't play three-way same time we have the top simmers on your beard mafia did coxen did so they could lock off the base midrange coming on and that night i see him stafford mafia thorn wolf big bald queen city quaker touch mafia for music mafia had all the tunes um mafia turned took that dance but it was a clean and crisp is quaker but that tap on bottom thing and
then come with us who said i want everybody to go there and it was like thunder coming down in the dance hall and an art that was an experience picada night there mafia and queer cat teach were a lesson where whenever i did forget it and i'll not remember it but where do for me and my team was make us know where we have to get right getting there wasn't the problem is we know no so we had to get there come here tell her the man named give her one time stafford my teacher mafia tony was incredibl
e his performance was super outstanding quicker city we can't take nothing from the big man carl doing never have the tune like stafford mafia right the manson was ultra national we learned from the beaten there and after that that was the key card that was the era where we saw right ago time for a step up now and after that it wasn't too long after that we started to become v racket international [Music] over so many years legs leave england got to america i left one of these veterans that work
ed a lot with him and amplifiers in birmingham to look after it and fix the sound when we just fix it so that they go to where that's where we got our pilot at the side say we're going to try braves after a certain amount of time like working on the phone and me and parliament click um because he was technically minded and technically minded in that way that he he likes things electronics because it's not just the song first of all i started off just working on the sound building stuff then afte
rwards when did when the other side came in that we wanted to modify boxes and build boxes parliament always had from from mr doogie i think it was parliament always had that um interest in in in building boxes and because myan parliament kind of work closely together with because i could see the enthusiasm what he had for it i i turned around and was showing them certain things and and we kind of like worked together to build the cabinets i would design them and then obviously the problem with
me ricky and parliament when i came around the sound yeah there was a lot of people into like those mc's selectors you know like i said i came from like moving boxes and all them kind of things yeah and i seen that like a lot of people was into this selecting and the my business you get me and i didn't say to myself boy i didn't see myself being a magma in that way or even a selector but i seen the other side where i said boy is this man operating this thing and every time this thing goes out on
the road the main response is with this man so that's how i got drawn more to parliament and the relationship with me and him became even more because i'm more stuck around in the engineering side of this thing because i see that a lot of people was going to the selecting as i said that my business and that and i didn't see myself doing that i seen an interest that from the minute i seen bernie turning these keys and in his head in a valve arm i said well i was more interested in this side of t
he sound ricky was always there when and whenever the song was playing ricky was like the writer man if if it was anything if the sound was pulling down parliament would show ricky what the ropes and ricky was the kind of person that was always eager and there we i'm showing the interest valerie robinson affectionately known as lady v joined reuben and parliament by filling a vital position as manager and agent for v rocket her addition to the team would help make v rocket the formidable force i
t would become in the uk sound system arena valerie joining us was like a piece that was missing and it was a significant move at the time because she started the angular business as the promoter helping to promote taking the bookings and not all of that but the real significance it will vary come with she started to build a relationship with jamaica and the artists there the first time i met valley was at jammies in the 80s when valerie was young beautiful even though she's she's beautiful righ
t now but she was more beautiful back then because she was younger and she was shaped like this very very sexy beautiful lady and i started jammies and she was caught in a dark place but um damn china you know everything's a hustle so um i shouldn't have to cut that one because this one is a better tune for anything we just um had a friendship um valerie is like like every lifetime you meet her sister who is strong intelligent and knows what she wants when we start with the song coming roping wi
th parliament and ruben who decides to work a set of foundational jamaica [Music] summer flight to jamaica and set up with dub settings with channel one okay man them dsd squinji was engineer king james and toby's well jamies did come slightly after becca thomas did their water also do him thing father used to go jamaica regular so all the pre-releases and discard artifacts and them chewing they used to come in regular parliament and ruben from young ideas used to regularly i buy them children s
o all that continue but they step up and adopt them start coming differently now to me it was an ear smooth it was an ace move i'm very happy to make a luck the majority of the time i should go she got on there i should come up with you i should stand up to when she can come up right and whenever it started that i was that's why in the dance or the clash nobody wanna have some children i don't want a person could i come and say and i'll give them a princess julia all right so that is another kno
w me i'm burning when ski filled them under the rest of my might say give me something little today but now listen to them come on foreign next to two members very very rare you know and sometimes you come on midnight i think we'll touch your own i just said you can't feel that without answer i'll be fit a certain instruction [Music] [Music] [Music] oh [Music] yeah during the earlier years as valerian rubin started lickhead now we have a look at youth where he would spend some time on jamaica an
d in come back here on meltdown well the way kids scream for one time so scrippy is that you where you still come running at the house i don't wanna go school wherever we rock it is i have to be there caviar racket is okay and the blues on the icing green spot but not even not even there anymore regular every night so sometimes how you sort of go there just to hold a biker for you know something some days i miss our school and you know parliament beefy all the time you say hey if you go and i sc
hool you for go at school so sometimes i was gonna be soft at school but at this hours i love the music i love the sword i did i would i microphone we used in giant lyrics then writing one lyrics so script vagina i'm very young yet cowards creepy first time you know he was going just in his last sierra school and someone in the scene come he says creepy you're supposed to be in school man you're not supposed to be here and you know scripted just love the thing i hear me without telling me i am y
ou started saying you forgot school a grand school man saying car from another parliament and reuben you know i know me so love the music but but at the same time you know is a man you understand you know parliament are the real man and they make me while i would fix up wrong i saw him because if we were if not guaranteeing i saw him let me know and i'm serious parliament my player people man parliament sir we're gonna bring you in you know but if you're not go to school you can't companies on y
our africa school [Music] and we're scripting love it and decide say me go go school mega got school sister v 16. i worked the mic i may tell italia it was a general [Music] in 1987 v rocket created history by being the first uk sound to carry their entire sound system and crew on a 12-week tour of the motherland of dancehall jamaica it was a trip that would change the trajectory of the sound system and launch v rocket into the league of champions [Music] the idea came up that winning for tour g
ermany a car it never took long for him at the decision it was like a evening bantering where overnight it became reality so it wasn't just the crew were just flying in with those music you know we'll support the sauna with regenerator everything so 87 was saddle upon i couldn't believe when the deer come fly flight everything book and the song chance park shipping company come pick up the equipment that will say parliament say we are carrying the things they've got load up with self in them i w
ill go down with the county in a day i'll never forget it to know a volvo car left up on the top like a pallet i everything generator and the sony zone shipper afghan at jamaica 87 1987 v rocket touchdown in jamaica and that was it [Music] keeps on flying was a difficult one because when we reach then one creates the money if it would clear it it will clear the equipment so eventually what happens is the shipping company know tell the agent so if you put up the money god damn no say the equipmen
t booked for comeback because the concern was with the customs that we're gonna sell the equipment over there so we'll go off clear the song get the song and we'll drive to the area there my comeback passed on spanish stone side cowboy up isaac and people are wrong behind the chuck say oh england song come england seoul england song come friendly because they could see all the boxes on the back and they could see we were on there with it and dropping all our beer stringy topper everything and my
husband jeffrey it was the man with a look after the generation thing the main worry was is the delico going to work is the generator going to work i had to set the summer i'm going to cool lama everything good and putting petrol and everything i remember when them when they did they they they're calling it come on and just sit on string up and start fire i won the first june draw i'm a sorry levi rocket is up disappear and people are coming from alberta and i say yes england song yes v rocket
a long time where are you about to know hola haba beer so we'll get from ital movie star johnny beckham bsr mr b seden them time the hola baby so anything i play at them time to get croc get robot kai foreign melody skyfish singing fish winston aussie at clear yes king respect [Music] the tour was really what tight up we were javis i have the majority of the rhythm that bobby feely and james them was licking them timely may have them more during their time there my brother rule ben the sister va
lerie then liver studio sometime i'll twerk like a man in them are coming right some days may god only with them today with ruben i'm valerie bobby [Music] that really cemented the relationship because i tell you something they had more time to stay in the studio to listen to songs that i have that they that they didn't have and it was a lot the mafia they are every day till night but go home leave them all a while i caught up you know what i mean so that's really unfathomable for my own son you
know your mind your father parliament i'm global my son so i'm going to come and string up them say yes so no real so that is that is why when i went to england to class can some use v rocket because v rocket know kind of cloned my zone parliament tinker committing about zone system because the real me one of my songs on is the same thing with parliament you know i mean parliament is a straightforward quality man and poor man and i saw me dealing with the sound system thing too you know quality
empowerer no that trip was i was in my element i'm here in the art away reagan music mech in jamaica and i'm in the top studio i'm producer at the time studio and every year i'm seeing tiger superstars i mean i know the studio and i'm getting tuned working with jammies i'm bobby digital scringers in peace called scringer didn't leave from channel one and was engineering before bobby rhona jamies so we built up a really really good relationship we where v rocket become jamie's uk song with a son
y unity so everything will come off at all for the press v racket [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] you know so to speak you know edgy teacher dizzy penny many many many artists you know patrick patmar kingfish josie i can go on an analysis many [Music] whilst in jamaica v rocket would recruit some homegrown talent who would join the crew and return with them back to the uk you about a song fly down from england yeah uh the the proprietors are owners and everything from from my district anywhere m
y area in a spanish store so big buck which was one of the family members you know liver jamaica up foreign now you stop the place and get a couple firewood and everything me and other artists because our a slew of artists and that night and i remember we left the dance and everything good and you know small axe black spider some some area sounds and all these things so island concern a big buck himself come to me and say you know what the people in for the soul which is in family then v racket
want your update or fedo i think what he does i say a motor until you see him come back again someone will say something serious now yeah and then we get a contact to valerie yeah miss v man you know and she said so and so on and so on so i'll get your passport and think together really and you're gonna come up such a time in such a way i mean i say yeah so mr pepe you're coming tonight to get serious now be pure up and get myself ready passport in open ready and everything get an invitation let
ter get it stamp gp everything yeah and take it come on make a fly let me tell you what it's like the cars it's a english soul like a yacht song come back in a full force bomber drop dirt and then let me we realized when we were leaving that these were guys we would have to try and get up here the car they were ready the they love the family we love them over the three months we admit i always said this is business this is music and if you guys want to come up on work this on a full job that whi
ch i get to know it was it was an experience and a half may i tell you wake up and shake up cause now is we rocking time viral kiss is gonna blow your mind wake up and shake up yo when v rocket returned to the uk they came ready to solidify their place in the premier league of uk sound systems they began to engage in fierce competitions with every top sound in the country [Music] yeah our journey had ended in jamaica and we'd return back to the uk after three months out there touring thailand an
d creating some good work um following that it was time to do some killing [Music] will remember now the marcos garvey center tyrone donna the garvey was very smart i had this idea that when they get back i would book them for four solid weeks um i mean just think of four weeks of one song system playing the first night it was just free rocket on its own and you told us some 800 people absolutely crazy and then after that we had v rocket and unity which is another song system back to the rafters
because it's a big thing we were kind of come back from germaco all the new music people want to come in and hear it and then i think after unity we had i'm not sure if it's java we had we had coxswain as well but it was just the main attraction was v rocket coming back from jamaica and people come in to hear every rocket um system yeah i mean this has been the the most blessed situation we have in nottingham where we have our own massive song system which is nationally known and always playing
here um i would say we rock it as made marcus i think if you talk about marcus garvey center and the artist that's been there and the access going on there you have to start from the very top and saying we rock it at a place with it the marcus garvey center in nottingham is a world renowned venue it has hosted countless reggae concerts and sound clash events for more than 40 years the v rocket crew and the directors of the marcus garvey center developed a close union that would create many memo
rable events so right now we're here in the markus garvey center member part nine crime parliament so when you talk about the the the city of nottingham you have to talk about this iconic building the marcus garvey center iconic in so many ways it's it's it's an international building because so much great reggae artists and sounds as performed right here in this building back in the days this is where it is starting everybody right here at the marcus garvey center was the meeting wrong for alla
h they saw them valerian tyrone put on the promotion this is where we used to do it and also any sound check the rocket zone was established the upgrade and the checking and everything this was our backyard the relationship is that close with and bernie and others around it run the system that whenever they want to use the building for testing um their equipment um whenever they want to use the building they know it's it's free of charge to them it's rather interesting really because i meet peop
le who have been to marcus garvey 70 30 35 years ago and they would have met their partners here and they would talk about can you remember yellow man and the big dance we had and we rock it played that's the kind of stuff you get to chilly daily it's this big artist and oh bureaucrats this song system enough respect to the nottingham community because additive being for your great attendance over the many years and the support this building wouldn't be here and i have to pick up tyrone for the
the work that is done over the years to keep this building doors open [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] rocket is a bonafide phenomenal sound system they have boxes they have amps they string up they load up the sound they play the sound they have customized units the whole thing so we have to look here when you're asked if you're asking me have i seen them clash no because when i came into it they were already clashing and killing people for years before i got my foot in the door and starte
d to become somebody who could take part they were clashing unity cox and you know all java all those sounds back in the 70s you know in the 70s i was like trying to find the courage to go into a dance i'm just toured jamaica and i'm come back and valerie said nothing i'm complaining in a marcus garvey center that element was memorable we know salem got jamia and come back and everything hurt so we have forgot you know confused this that was one eleven dance so much that is a dance man never for
get karma sir ribs was very clever every time there you know demon rock has on them they mute they are going wicked v rocket solar the first song he called a super power solenoid when them data when v rocket come with a sound there no sound as far as i know of in an englander a player saw heavy clean you know it's a super power sound like macaulay you wanted to put on a piece of eating at the dance in a markers and when mattel said my daddy i must say well now go see a bad man what that mean is
that i'm we're bringing penny ira [Music] and we're bringing in edgington and we already have scrippy we have a local man them i'm so when the man them coming after unity don player presentation english dj versus yard dj you know another different part of the buckle you know with dg and dg you know wicked man wicked ali khan here when the chuck turner come on come come come come you know [Music] robert now do not what turn on films on the same time so the tools on a player one time and one same
of a mushroom that better mash up the dance don't take a kill [Music] a dance with whoever it was cats and sucks and because i know i had what to deal with them with i have the ammunition tuned yourself far away how when when i expect you we get a call [Music] you get a fight but love a fire to them it was saxon yeah and java them two songs i always remember them we and them always going at it because they have a good slew of entertainers too like us yeah and it was it was hard battles songs wer
e there you know artistry i would say one of the main events would be a club where we called in derby which was the havana club that's if i remember nsu top sister utah city road maybe number one was you toxic road and v rocket to my recollection had charlie chaplin and brigadier the general my good version first time he played with java there might have been a similar with me officer noble i mean i'll go back in front of you tell me ready another door there was like a yard sound still it was on
e of the best sounds in the midlands at the time i i actually would say it was the best in the midlands um what we we come across when we was um playing those other good sounds but the the music what they was playing i would say i would rate that as the the best i'm i'm not i'm not saying the dj they was playing more on a yard vibes thing you know they would import a lot of artists from jamaica and let them play on on their sound so they was kind of bringing that yard vibes we turned up at this
dance now we're all excited because we're still young in the game a v rocket a big man too you know so and i never forget we strung up the sound we're testing out and we sounded all right and we're excited we're looking forward to it and then i think um beefy come on the mic when they were testing out that sound and i'll never forget this he said sovereign yearbook in the stilling up but tonight we are gonna see if you have any use i i didn't but i don't want to attack the full hundred at the ti
me master blast only had a few droplets but when v rocket come on with the valve hamster i mean i read gold and green and parliament was diane rubin was there the first tuning plane was a 45 you know the sun named dixie peach slatter had a fussing demanding putana [Music] see i say after them play this the slaughter and test them some dixie and then play it i'm feeling love sick same thing here i keep it quick quick quick while they wash up the placement [Music] tuner every selector is selected
in a clash wow ruben when you talk about ruby now then your slab is a parliament i don't separate none of them because they're a team and the music industry you know any industry in life you have to have a team it's a team that makes one unit and ruben top class selector challenging reuben was the top selector in england when i buy us anybody's may ever hear from me in ronald's own you have ceremonies so this is certain other selectors that really stand out um like the top five most famous selec
tors and reubens in that bracket robin when imma taken [Music] i'm aggressive [Music] foreign [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] one of my icon as a selected act for life yes ruben i don't want to really spin the record but parliament play a part in adapter and i in chewing the song and make it sound a weird way i'm going to jam it somewhere you feel like v rocket [Music] [Music] i've been djing a very long time and to tell you the honest truth we don't know self-praise by the sound it's the
best mic stage i ever talk on and a lot of artists a lot of singers tell me that when when a dj up on v rocket zone you don't have no string you can't get worse because you don't have to strain it doesn't matter oh hardy dj it doesn't matter what light it needs you the mic stays just like it adjusts to your voice the the the other thing that i didn't like would be rocket the tapping it was so clean it was so clear i said yeah yeah v racket taps even if you never know what's happening racking up
the dance when you're here the taps you have got a v racket yeah you know shut up parliament know the preamp here i don't think that mean love yeah ignore the praying power here am i finding some frequencies don't think that you're so sweet but still they get me yeah man i have no one to play himself mid range i always watch bernie touching up touching up and then touching up you know i didn't just give you that revives the sound just make you make lyrics you know it just make you make lyrics th
ere is no song that you're happy for to happen you're not you don't tired because they might don't work you you work with your mic you understand the mic don't work you have some sound where you have to make some put the comment up and put no once burn is a dj timer bernie under the mic there's nothing more to do the mic still just clean even germans germans when we do the jamming store and view its own we didn't use even germany tell every artist go back and say no sir the cleanest mic stage wh
en the monday tune up v rocket song and me at least here they might make everything for the song coming like it's bad [Music] [Music] key fat white zone no foreign sounds like sovereign from ruin jackson unity from manchester byron turbo charge no generation master blaster saxon even before my time jungle mana java turos not supposed to do what we was doing to them i'm in our guru on it would be the [Music] you have so another country though the same time is there be a sadistic you know the coma
tone from dealing with town boy wicked that's already them it's like she was a country so and i couldn't release this country zone from nothing i'm so bad you know we're going our london you know i'm playing all them big souls and we are giving them trouble london our attitude no care where you come from if you're outside london them are the wikileaks them can't help that mdna right military london so it in our idea and here too when me and robert you will need to play we're playing lovingly we
have a clash and everyone had me to get bombed no with unity and v rocket no membership never come from the same stable so it's a different outlook now you know as i said we have a job fedor that are for promoting the music where we are playing we never just have player dobson willy nilly i played any digital ended up with players on proper tune and his only unity mv rocket at that time a player that amount ajami's music we never cross the line at all at no time at all we keep everything another
downside and when we come out there is be respect for one another because we can see what one another is doing i enjoy doing that to them i enjoy coming to london knowing they're not gonna sound as good as this but i'm rinsing some chewing in the head as well the real battles was v rocket and saxony the wall-e england order but in the time then back up primary it was always a problem when i said man no him recognize them you know but we were very affected they would give us they would give us a
run for our money yeah you know okay you need us okay you vibes you know i'll give you a g2 kicking on yeah right and why you know somewhere we're talking back somewhere some i'll tell you sometime when v rocket use a player i'm gonna play a bad tune why am i here from a netback stand up i'm ahead go cool i'm saying wow you know god how about something the event when saxon and v rocketed and let me tell you they were taught it all and it was in london i'm talking i'm just trying to remember you
know but i can't involve when i was a question to get the pinpoint but that event was in london i think it's kill burn you know they came to um kilburn london for the first time to play beyond they brought um penny harry edgington and um lecture lecturer the dance ram saxon v rocket i will never forget that clash when i said the dance ram it no no please play around and i remembered rocket day you know they surprised the london crowd because they worked saxon that's actually going to tell you t
his in another interview who would you say had the mantle because it wasn't a trophy they were playing for but that event was when i said music expanded that night quality music the crew would never buy us i mean let me never forget my first lyrics i said already if you go home i'm hear them say no [Music] [Applause] [Music] hey [Music] the early days of v rocket coming to london made a stamp in london a map because then thought saxon can you know sorry like what you know we're a musical bridge
just like oh we can't get touched everybody can't get touched that night the rocket gets sucks now pizza whopping beautiful dance people know any time v rocket unsucks and vocal dance have a nice you know what i mean v rocket of them thing we are full of flavors even if we play a v racket in the mid week on a weekday that's nice we booked saxon one night i didn't bring him along attack every man take him out brushway so when we go for our dji then whether they're my english man or jamia come on
get touched yo saxophone yo we have over there that jamie can know we have the style and a pattern is [Applause] foreign foreign [Applause] there was one dance where oliver said wikia miss saxon and the rocket hampton crypt and yeah tell you the dance tuna bite lyrics are jump you know what i mean believe not to tell you what they all come because but as a youth in other dance days like he has said no this is the level of sound system where you aspire to be this that dance was it for me see so s
ucks one thing would be rocky to know them always clean and heavy saxon bsd dust is one of them punchier beers car london so never did have the weird then i've won one big beers but you see when the midlands sounded like v rakitan saw them from birmingham they might have been weird the night then yo the dance nice we're on a uk tour we did like london and then we went up north from coventry to birmingham then to nottingham where we broke up free rocket um they were like where the biggest ticket
not them i mean to this day um they had lecturer and we had kevin ivy and we were rolling that night and went to daylight we did dub for dub dj for dj tune fortune the works i mean that was like a crazy dance um we wreck it yet yeah amazing honor and respect to all of them so they've caught every man of them time and every man of them true quality the reputation of v rocket sound went before them they were revered because people knew how powerful they were other sound systems feared them because
they knew that the dub box was deep [Music] as valerie grew in her role as manager she evolved into one of the leading promoters in the uk valerie is the creator of platforms such as winner takes all uk rumble and england's biggest annual sound clash event the uk cup clash [Music] [Music] there's a big journey i don't have to express because you can see sister he has done so much to this music establishment in england where from her sound which was her father's which i heard a story before many
interviews that she has given sister v came to a an error and a struggle in the sounds it was men dominated you have to respect that lady i'm very challenging and she never gave up the fight the musical fight because you have to challenge that you have to have i don't say war well you have to have that musical challenge and sister v is on point she's a top class lady she's administrator she's a promoter she's an organizer she's an agent she has many qualities and i'm sure many sounds around the
world has that love for her sister you come check around on a wednesday night they can't forget when i wednes [Music] becoming like a family you know it is in pajamas king jam is someone pantour man i'm a teleman rip up england man the whole england mashup biggest dance in the about the place man everywhere everywhere will play a sword lord ram while i must sweat water i run out of place like a river matter of mine yeah she she's well experienced you know and it could not be easy for her to com
e to you know in a while with a classy as i'm not i'm gonna just use this term man world when it comes to seoul she caught the girls neat in it and she come through very powerful and she bring a different influence to the old industry i've watched this woman grow up from mangano said from nothing to something and fighting to preserve the sound system industry why what can i say the things what she has done to actually for the sound system work and answer the uk is is invaluable so i would take m
e utter after that lead the deer speaking on behalf of sophie my cousin scully and my brother robbie v rocket one of those sounds that they actually helped us grow as a sound so what it is we got to remember with sound system at that time is very competitive very tribal so there were lots of people in the industry that wouldn't really help you because they're thinking you could become a threat to them but i know i could pick up the phone to valerie and then she would in turn put me in contact wi
th certain people and give us some advice that would help us grasp the sound as well when she asked me to take part in uk cup clash that's like and immediately the old tummy muscles you know butterflies were kicking oh no no but i can't no valerie i i'm not in that league what what and she convinced me gently persuaded me but finally convinced me that i could and should take part and i did and it wasn't just once that she did that she did that on more than one occasion and it was because she fil
led me with confidence that i was able to take part in uk car crash and able to get some of the forwards that i got for that i have one person to thank valerie robinson original clinics alongside v rockets on fears and the kids and i say belly bless yourself i'll be don't say next word neither parliament drastic foreign argument and i say lady v rastafarian and rule east [Music] sequences taking the sound system off the road to upgrade the equipment the rocket was relaunched in the beginning of
the millennium and the new generation were positioned to take the forefront and continue the legacy six years but during that time i have a son paula jr which is known as belly and we had imported a new dg and selector valby who was going to move forward in the manelium early years with as the new commands them and the younger vibrant you know the businesses are changed no you know so you have a move with the time the transition had to be made because things changed a lot of the zones them were
used to just have the the the one changer a lot of them saw the start started disappear from of the scene and we never want that reached reach the zone so when they brought me up it's more like a juggling part of things so the table was just started to turn so that's our first step to juggling becoming juggling sound and it was pure them dates they went the records and me and valen butler was there for yeah yeah a couple years ago and then um at the same time the young guys nephew then his son a
nd some affiliate friends the iraqi millennium squad the younger part of the sun with my brother my cousin what up was my son now marley start playing music at a young age and him team up with belly parliament's son me and belly part and partnered up um and we started doing like little under 18's parties and we started keeping our own under 18 sporties and following footsteps of mormon the sun you get me and then we used to go over the house on a saturday we sat the man in a normal get up and be
gged him that i lift over to a mountain pony and then you seen at the dog box a clash on the compressed parliamentarian upon the song you know there's something about him marley can't talk by himself and he can't select by himself and we have a meeting i'm gonna set the parliament said you're up now billy for compound the big song let him go up on the big song so he's like one do you know the universe at him and say you know what more i'm bringing like you jump on the song i mean do you come in
i don't wanna the easiest part for me to play a song that you just make me feel good my minute on the select animal made us world americans my passion for music and science system came from a very young age obviously grew up in a in a household of music obviously parliament that's my dad so i would always say the sound system tapes the sound clashes the music i'd see the records it would be a very physical thing for me and i mean he had a record shot so i see how i was there and i was able to ge
t access to the music and stuff and like i said in 2002 um uncle b fairy ben as they call him um he kind of just said you know what when you're ready let me know and i've got my light well i can't remember where or which dance it was but he came and he said once i'm ready for it tonight they said i said all right and that was it from that time [Music] [Music] my a chemistry between them toward them a bread as them working with van and billy is like what what can i say is like one of the best thi
ngs ever because um val emceeing crazy belly selecting is like always on point been working from 2016 and while melee combination is like one of the best i've ever seen i've seen all the selectors playing uk but when you come out to voluntary trust me nobody can test both of us have an understanding that i was the key he was willing to listen right and at the same time his ideas them when bring to the table was really on point when when i was let loose in the in the archive with the records the
45's the 12 inches the lps the dog plates it was like wow you know me my my my knowledge and my music library my edit just expanded when i got the opportunity so i'm not saying uncle beef didn't say this belly or val didn't say this belly but i think a lot of my learning came from observing and acting and being in these events and putting these put in the deep end basically so sometimes we're going to dance let us leave the pressure upon him physically i manage it because someone business people
think it's very easy to do to deliver is one of the hardest thing to do every week well is a silent killer you get me it's not too he's a man that won't talk too much what you see when he gets behind the turntables and the decks that's where he does he's talking like our one thing we believe in program you see when you listen to him you can play tonight and there are two minor add two different selection and then still keep the thing moving you know i mean and then you know well the and my mone
y no even though something like presents i need to have him like a style and you know said my name i go i'm going to you then i go on wikipedia my old one you know i mean and i keep v racket fire burning and with them as well them always play and clear to the audience and make sure everybody alright you know some selector just play to themselves they're not watching the audience valve be hours i watch the audience and i look how weird to bust the crowd i love that with him still you know all rig
ht i'm going to ability rockets big him up big selector there is that yeah umbrella who's all about now they're all younger eggs haven't been around or been together as long as vladimir so to me me with the valentino had a big money daddy business you know i just therefore getting that some more class now we've been all over juggling many countries around the country juggling for me i haven't experienced the diet rugged clash clash vibe you know i mean and that's where i want it to go and i'm no
t saying i want to stop jogging i want to be able to do both but for me i know the the the the the um music we've been voicing i know the input that's been put in to making sure that the specials and the dog box is well-rounded so for me the future is i personally want to start clashing but i also know we've got a younger team that we're trying to bring through and with us after i'm not going to be playing star system forever val's not going to be playing sound system forever so we need to leave
it in a good shape for the man them that are going to be coming up after us so the legacy can live on you know i mean i'm not going to lie i'm i'm i'm the guy right now that's got a point to prove so whatever dance i go in um whatever opportunity i get i'm coming to shell it down you get me so that's what's my thing right now so spilling back and taking the opportunities when they come them says so now since are they selected to be island and mccann promise people now i you said this here anybo
dy run up in me i'm belly just north on a plate or shiro different you know it's v rocket sun you know so the slogan is the only sound that goes to the moon so we're here we're gonna stay here and for me is back off your time you know i mean ready [Music] for over 50 years v rocket international has been going strong the legacy is sealed the new generation continues to bud and the future of the dynasty looks promising it has been an amazing journey well i've gained respect for the years and the
the work while i'm putting our business and and i'm an article just nothing i'm not talking about putting our business world clash on all these things are going through sister behind them sometimes it's part of the team to bet them things that happen so something we you know what i mean i mean know about v rockets onboard before me build unity zone from their select fourth manson you know so v rocket a proper foundation so you know one of the biggest i have every respect for the rocket soul i un
derstand we've been to all battles war and we always come up on the same side [Music] nobody can stop them i know today they're the best what me know about i'm not biased i love v rackets on to the world my hand will look very racket anytime see it no frisbee can i salute the rocket song straight up up to the time until now my song that well i didn't miss conscious all night right here a real soldier [Music] one of the top three songs i would say over the last party idea legend man legend v rock
et is a sound system legend no doubt about it the name v rocket is implanted with the greats of uk sound system culture that could be like a year to your england zone the year to year england zone a metro media at the end of zone if there wasn't the rocket song system marcus garvey center would nowhere nowhere near with the success that it is marcus garvey center is nationally internationally known and i would say 95 99 percent of that has been the work that every rocket has put in german is one
of the best zone worldwide they understand and v rockets second that so but i said well done number one [Music] [Music] i've never heard music playing on a song and some level v recognition the rapid is a big song i will give that salute to the vivaca team as an establishment and an enterprise as a movement in the uk who has carried the journey of this music which hasn't been easy it's just a struggle to take it through the generations this rocket was a very good sound and um yeah i'll take my
house they're up to speed they're up to date they know what time it is and they know how to rock a house if you can't rock a house you're in the wrong game get off the stage b rockets still command center stage they're a great sound and sister valerie is a very special special person i build a lot of sound and [Music] you don't even hear about them anymore you know but i'm still hearing about v-rockets y'all sold that were i was i know they are not and isn't but v rocket sound no people to all o
ur people the armenian father parliament yeah known as bernie but akk father parliament ultra v rocket song been there done it 40 ideas in the yeah i was still up there crush it big of toad are the music supporters the more they all are the music that's then everybody peace well now forgive thanks for the journey the late miss adobe and moms [Music] mr manoogie mrs honor because that's what the team is you know that is the team because the transitions start from freedom siblings parliament and r
euben and from mamza missadoogie god bless them because if they never start the look of 50 watt zone system what our our journey would be we would never know so [Music] enough respect to them [Music] and made business not just v-rocket but reggae music sound system culture camera just represent the iwakuni we represent the culture the sound system culture may the culture live on may the sound system culture live on it get enough not fight it out over the years but more life [Music] forever when
it comes to the sound system culture and i have to give the utmost thanks and respect to the people them that are so supported us and stood by us and all the people that's played a role whether why you know wire without driving the van rest in peace baller pick up yourself java jeffrey mccann name some of them and them are japort [Music] enough respect to all the people them that have supported us over the years and give us the encouragement to keep going for start calling him there forever some
more life to the sound system culture and to be rocket international [Music] and we keep on playing [Music] [Applause] [Music] anywhere we can't make it it's the same dream that we share when you put [Music] anywhere [Music]
