captured on a ring [Music] camera the entryway to Shawn no's home quickly fills with smoke the fire was out in about 30 minutes look at this just melted this is the aftermath of his home wow I just really really lost everything um I thought maybe it'll just be limited to the living room but um that wasn't the case the devastation that you see in this house was caused by something that can be found in the everyday household a battery that goes to a cordless vacuum the the battery had a charging p
ort already so it just went straight from the wall directly into the battery and it was just sitting there on the corner cuz we had the we had the house cleaned a couple days ago fire investigators point to an overheated lithium ion battery you I've always left that battery plugged in um it's never been a thought that ever crossed my mind n's kids inside were able to escape to safety but two of the family's four cats did not within the span of 30 minutes U you know this is something I never thou
ght would have happened to me NL hopes others will hear his story and learn from him if you have all these you know devices plugged in throughout your home you know and plug them immediately don't leave them charging overnight once it's charged uh just take that extra second to to go and disconnect it so that this doesn't happen to you but in n's devastating precautionary tale he says there's also some good his community was quick to launch a drive for donations just outpouring of support um and
and you know things given to us has been nothing short of a miracle and a blessing
