video with me Nina schofield singer songwriter vocal coach and session musician and I have not
done a shre gal reaction in a year I was looking at my YouTube studio and thinking yeah it must
have been you know 6 months or something no it's been a year so I'm really sorry about that I try
and keep up with all the artists that I enjoy and kind of do as many videos as possible but I do 12
videos a month and they all just fly away from me and sudden
ly it's a year and I can't believe it
so anyway we're here we're back to watch some more Shrea this time we're watching diwani mastani
and this is a live performance I don't know where this performance was it doesn't say I just know
that it was live and I'm really excited to see this I looked up the English translation of the
lyrics before hitting record on this video and the translation you know I don't think it's entirely
accurate necessarily but let me know if I read a little bit out to
you you might be able to kind
of say yes that's exactly it or no I can tell you better but it sets the scene by saying the fairy
that has come from the clouds such beauty with all the ornaments she's come she's come uh with a
feston in her hair and with the eyes of the world on her she's come your beloved to the world or
dear likee woman um when you're your sight touched me I got crazy about you I I became crazy became
mad the story of my love became famous so that's kind of the overall thi
ng that I'm getting from
this that this is about a love that sort of drives someone so wild that it becomes a a famous story
so let's see how that resonates musically let's see what's going on with the vocal here with Shrea
and just enjoy her performance here we [Music] go [Music] there's a playful nature to this already actually
there's something about the chord movements um I don't know something about this very
mystical sounding lovely floaty vocal from shre [Music] so well controled the
little just hear that again actually the
crescendo at the end of The phras Amazing [Music] wow that note that's the E5 I love the quality
of Sha's vocal the way that she navigates her range is incredible and it's because she
has such lovely tonality in all different parts of her range that the transitions are
so smooth she can sing all these songs that kind of move through extremes of her range
I feel uh with ease and making it sound so pretty let's just hear that phrase
again [Music] in
I know [Music] theic aspects nice I love how
this is developing musically [Music] okay [Music] that whole phrase the technical aspects that
are in there it's the constant [Music] movement you know it's not [Music] just no this all these
passing notes all these Grace notes and [Music] incredible the racing of [Music] the I love how she gets the audience involved
uh there's space in the phrasing that's another thing that I've been noticing say that you
have these elongated phrases but then th
ere's a little rest you know I like that for the
performer it's great because it means that you've got that time to readjust and get your
breath control back to a kind of neutral place but also just song wise it tells the
story in such a great way oh wow this instrumentation such interesting chords
being created the harmony within [Music] that wow listen to the dynamic control within that phrase here we go [Music]
I like this descending [Music] [Music] Melody that was nice the looseness
in
the phrasing instead of just keeping it tight it was this kind of the fny funny I know
I'm not doing the melody cor correctly but you know what I'm saying phrasing wise amazing and
another thing that I noticed is the clarity so diction wise we're getting everything coming
through all of those lyrics so super super clear even when as you get to you know
the higher parts of your range it does become more difficult to pronounce things not
with Shreya just listen to that phrase [Music] again [
Music] bre control okay that major to minor I think it was that I
the chord movements in this the progression is just out of this world [Music] for that [Music] again we're going up to the G Shar 5 there goodness love this Arrangement
the atmosphere it [Music] builds uh This Is Awesome The Turning
of the camera it feels like we're kind of on a ship and it's rocking back and
forth or something I want to listen to the whole of this section again this
is so cool with the backing [Music] vocals
oh my goodness the the movement [Music]
there I mean I didn't get that entirely right but it's that chromatic movement that is so
[Music] special [Music] and you can hear the Reverb choice and the delay that's on tre's
vocal there is just fantastic perfect it just suits the whole thing perfectly so when we were
looking at those lyrics earlier and we kind of got this mystical aspect to it I feel like the
song carried that in such an an incredible way Arrangement wise just absolutely stunnin
g and
yet again just one of the most well-controlled vocals from Tre dynamically breath control wise
storytelling wise and beautiful as well let's not forget that you know there's technicalities
but then there's also just this level of beauty that comes through both in the vocal and the
