The first step in writing a grant is to find the
right grant for your situation. In this video, I show you four places in Australia that offer
grants for small business, for non-profits, or for yourself. Plus a fifth source
that is unusual, but very helpful. Hey I'm Tiffany with Grant Chatter, where I show
you how to find, write, and win grants. And buckle up, because I am going to give you a lot of grant
opportunities across Australia, all linked in the description below. Place number one
to find grants
in Australia: Government Listings. I moved my laptop to show you this user-friendly search tool
to find Australian government grants. Scrolling down by location, by industry, by business
structure...more selections there...support type - lots of support types besides grants
- objectives, business stage, grant status, and indigenous businesses. You can also find
government grants for your state or territory. I'm clicking through them here, but as
promised these are all linked
below. Place number two to find grants in Australia:
Corporate Listings. Most corporations are very focused in their community support, but one of
the four that I list here has a lot of options for charities. Grants of Australia donates toothpaste
to organizations serving people in need. They also support animal welfare. Big W's community
page shows two named charities - Red Nose and Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation
for youth. Target has a charity partner, the Australian Childho
od Foundation. Commonwealth
Bank of Australia takes a different approach, which is to support the causes that its
employees support. It's worth your time to review this website, including this
list of the prior-year grant recipients, to see if your cause might also receive a grant.
There are plenty of other banks to consider, so I posted a link below to this directory
of banks across Australia. Place number three for grants in Australia: Philanthropy
Listings. The first option is a local s
ource: community foundations. I have a video on this
resource, linked above and below. Also linked below is a list of all the community foundations
in Australia, at the time of recording. See page six. The Ian Potter Foundation supports a wide
range of causes. This FAQ page is a must-read, to see how your organization might receive a
grant. The Meyer Foundation supports innovation and creativity. Again check the FAQ page for
options. Place number four: Niche Listings. Those with passion - a
nd financial backing - often
provide options to build their fields of interest. Here are four examples for women in business:
check out the Cartier Women's Initiative. For artists, check out the Meyer Foundation website
I just mentioned. In sports, here is a list of grants by state, or territory, or nationwide,
with the focus on building the sport of sailing. For recycling, I have a video on grants for
recycling, linked above and below, with a bunch of links for every Australian state and t
erritory. I
ran out of room in this video to list them all, so go to that video and look in the description
for all of those links. Place number five is the unusual one: Grant Services Websites. Grants
Assist is a consulting firm that also happens to provide immense amounts of information
on the website about grants in Australia. Yes, they will promote their services, but you
will also learn a lot about grants, with only paying the cost of your time. Here are two more
websites that teach f
undraising across the board for small business, charities, and individuals:
FundingCenter.com and Philanthropy.org. Which grants will you choose? If you need
help, click on this video or use this playlist to learn how to write them. Thanks for
watching. See you in the next video!
