rid of it all a name only once to move all the responsibilities from that department and give it to some something else um here at the state now the Arizona Congress Authority or the ACA as it's known is funded with both public and private money it was created back in 2011 since then they estimate that they've brought tens of millions of dollars to the state and hundreds of thousands of jobs and state senator Jake Hoffman and other conservative Republicans believe the ACA is turned into a bloate
d and inefficient agency Hoffman is the author of a bill amendment that would essentially gut the agency and all but name only it's unlikely that that's going to happen since Governor Hobbs will likely veto the legislation should it reach your desk but the president and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce said the bill sends the wrong message to any company thinking about coming here they hear about this and it does reputational damage real reputational damage not hypothetical we get the call
s what's going on is the ACA going to go away is this program that we've modeled our whole you know business plan around is that going to go away now that was Danny sidon he also said the ACA oversees programs that current businesses and industries take advantage of right now in the senate committee is expected to pass the bill this afternoon the proposal would then head to the senate floor for a v vote yeah you talked to Sid for a while there what else did he have to say about this one of the i
nteresting things is he was he would rather spend his time talking to us today than going down to the legislature to Lobby against the bill he said he's just been so frustrated with uh the chairman of the Comm was the sponsor of that bill he doesn't think that he would get a fair shake down there so you know he'd rather talk to us than go down there and do that and see what happens moving forward but his big concern is just the fact that that bill is out there even though it's probably going to
get vetoed it does send a message to people in the business Community outside looking to come here that maybe it's not a very friendly environment for that kind of business well thank you
