thanks for watching I'm Mike T and I'm J Winkle well the total solar eclipse now less than a month away and many of our W bash Valley communities are expecting an economic boost as thousands prepare to visit the area for the phenomenon your Guide to the eclipse found out how local city leaders hope to make an impression and get people to visit again we are anticipating between 50,000 and 100,000 people Indiana's first city is gearing up for the total solar eclipse with hotel room selling out RV
parks full and we also know our our one bed and breakfast has been booked for 2 years all these visitors bring a jolt of Revenue along with them we're kind of averaging it out um to say an average visitor would have a two night stay at $400 a night that would give us about an extra $20,000 Revenue in inkeeper tax barniak said the average Indiana visitor spends $183 during their trip between dining shopping and other activities but our local cities are thinking about the locals too as they plan f
or the eclipse all leading up through the weekend there will be different things going on and the people that are here locally get the chance to go to these events I know that there's going to be thousands of people that that come and visit but just the folks that are maybe getting out of work early being off of school they're going to come to the events they're going to spend money at the different restaurants and the economic benefits could extend past the eclipse itself as visitors see what t
he W bash Valley has to offer the most difficult visit to get is the first visit so we have completely revamped what we're doing as far as making sure that people get to see the beautiful sites that we have here I think that that could have some long-term um impact as well of you know maybe bringing 30 40 50 100 people that eventually want to stay and make their Roots here reporting in the path of totality I'm Nicole crine now the total solar eclipse is expected to begin in our area on the after
