Mara the stories that I've heard in the dozens of hours of phone calls that I've had over the past 5 days they're absolutely gut wrenching frankly my stomach has been doing flips for several days please if you're watching this and you are thinking about getting a dog go to one of these shelters and give one of these incredible dogs a second chance before it's too late because for many of them it already is Zuko you are a bear and a wolf it was Oscar Sunday and Zuko a Norwegian ELC count was sche
duled for euthanasia and I was told that the dog would be dead if I picked him up the next day I had to take him immediately Jerry passed on his way to an Oscar party flipped a U-turn after meeting the dog he was a fun playful loving animal there was no aggression whatsoever my whole office has played with him he was nothing but loving and licks dozens of infuriated LA City animal shelter volunteers former employees and animal rights activists say this happens all the time despite California cod
e which states no adoptable animal should be euthanized if it can be adopted into a suitable home they say perfectly healthy dogs without behavioral issues are killed because the shelters are overcrowded largely by large breed dogs that need their own kennel the city says that is not the case sending us a statement that reads in part it's crucial to emphasize that laas does not and will not entertain the idea of euthanizing healthy safe and friendly animals and any rumors indicating otherwise ar
e entirely false but after this viral email from La Animal Services volunteer coordinator claims a total of 800 dogs face a possible death sentence they angrily marched into Friday city council meeting demanding change is that volunteer Kathy cus says she was fired from the West Valley shelter in Chatsworth she occasionally took dogs on their last walk I did that a couple times and I I I won't do it again because it's too uh difficult to be walking around the block and trying to hold back your t
ears because you know this is the last time this this this animal is going to be able to go on a walk and see the outside her favorite was a Pity mix named Tico who she swears was nothing but a good adoptable dog he went to the back room uh and they killed him and then a few minutes later I was given back my uh empty leash with no dog on it anymore lucky for Zuko pass had the heart to save him his friend is taking him to live on a ranch in Georgia right now but many of these dogs will never get
that second chance at life it's been heartbreaking to see these animals that are perfectly good as this one as an example go to their death for no reason please do not not contribute to the problem spay a new to your pet adopt don't shop and the people making these claims say that we need a compassionate leadership that needs to follow the law making it illegal to euthanize perfectly adoptable dogs now of course the leaders send us a very long statement today and they're refuting these claims th
ey say absolutely under no circumstances is this happening that statement in its entirety is on our website foxla.com

We need to put a hold on breeding animals in los angeles full stop period

@graciephil

Heartbreaking as a society. We need to regulate breeders.

@CranberryFo

I adopted 2 cats from a local shelter. A "bonded pair". One is a handsome tuxedo cat. He's laying in my lap right this moment as I type this. His sister is a lovely calico, she's upstaris in the pet bed at the moment. I'm glad to have been able to give them both a loving home.

They have been doing this for YEARS!! When i volunteered there they refused to let me call the phone number on a cats tag!! But hey....they are only doing their job Los Angelians. Get your pet spayed or neutered ASAP.

@Conchita04

They’re doing that because they don’t want to pay to care for these poor homeless pets

@youtanked

😢😢

@daphnelu7

I fostered a dog from one of the LA Animal Services shelter. They are overcrowded as with any other shelters are. Many are understaffed as well. People need to spay their animals!

@BonusFiddle

If theres too many animals, what do you want done ? Go foster them

@User5_

The county does the same thing.

@LaHijaMexica

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE spay/neuter your animals.

@romeoelopez24

3:02 That’s not a good reason to neuter my dog.
