What does it mean to be an activist today?

We asked some members of our community what it means to be an activist in the framework of "Feed Your Future!", the Food Wave event organized during the Pre-COP days from 1 to 3 October 2021 in Milan. Let's find out the point of view of Virginia Pignata. Discover more https://www.foodwave.eu/ #foodwaveproject #feedyourfuture #catchthewave

Food Wave

My name is Virginia and I am a Food Wave activist In the framework of this project we are exposed to great and urgent issues and we try to interrogate ourselves on how to have more ethical and sustainable food systems and how to make the discussion more open and inclusive And we are doing that starting from the urban level, therefore from cities and citizens but without reducing the discussion to individual responsibility but opening our perspective to policies, which are the tool to consolidate
change Being an activist is not a “role” but it means maintaining yourself vigilant and critical about what happens in the world It means focusing on things that are beautiful and possible and try to protect them and give them space among all the compromises we are forced to accept in our daily life And in this sense being an activist is not "exclusive" and is not a label: being an activist means being a citizen
